I chose to stay at this hotel purely due to the price, which is excellent for New York, but also for its great location in Midtown very close to Times Square. The rooms are small and simple but adequate. Let's face it, you are in New York to experience the city not the hotel room. Rooms are equipped with basin and tv. Bathrooms are shared but there are plenty of them and they are always clean. Share kitchen area on each floor is handy. The only concern is city noise but this is New York so ju... Read more

The room was so small I could barley fit my big toe in......... Sow elevator, no big deal.... shared bathroom was no problem, great location! I was a single gal on my holiday, I felt safe although there are definitely some big city noises in the evening!

Polite and professional staff, good location, room was clean and quiet but very, very bare bones: linoleum flooring in rooms, bedding was super cheap, hallways smelled stale from folks using little common kitchenettes but without enough venting, shared hallway bathroom... have stayed in similar places when traveling in Europe but again much more like a hostel than a hotel. Would stay again if the price was right but if price is same as 'B' hotels in the area, would go elsewhere.

The place is cheap compared to other hotels around. Location is within 5-6 minutes walking distance to Times Square. What bothered me the most was the smell in the hotel. Not a bad smell but not a pleasant one either. Room was so small. Even though it was a shared bathroom, it was not that bad. In the few times, I used the bathroom it was clean. Please note that you have to purchase internet for $5.95/ day. It is not bad. Internet speed is decent.

As others have stated, this hotel is more like an uprated hostel but it's perfectly good for what you need as when in NYC you are out and about and the hotel is just somewhere to shower and stick your head at night. Fantastic location, so close to everything, easy to find. The rooms are small and basic but were spotlessly clean. Shared bathrooms down the hall on pretty much every corner. I only twice went to the bathroom nearest me and found it occupied so just took a few steps the other way and... Read more

The shared bathrooms were not maintained well, having an odor and no soap. The community kitchen contained little food and was not kept clean either. The rooms were very small and it was very noisy making it hard to sleep. Also, the beds were poorly kept up with. Having an odor and crumbs of foods we did not eat. My family and I would not recommend staying here.

Pros: Close to Times Square (east of Avenue of the Americas on 38th), reasonably clean, secure entry. Cons: Outside sounds are audible, very small rooms, shared bathroom. However, the cons are still outweighed by the price for a hotel room in central Manhattan - so close to Times Square, MSG, and Chelsea. Even though the outside noise wasn't quieted by the windows, the building itself was very quiet. Lots of eateries nearby as well (including a bubble tea cafe right next door). Overall, I'd st... Best thing about this hotel has to be the location! Walking distance to Times Square, Empire State, Herald Square, Bryant Park, Grand Central Terminal and so many other places worth visiting. Second best thing is probably the price - given the great location Shared bathrooms really not a problem as they were kept clean and are plenty on a floor so probably only sharing with one or two rooms. Sinks in the room were handy too. As such a central location outside is really noisy, so noisy that it... Read more

The hotel has a great location since it is easy to find. It has shared bathrooms (they are out side the rooms), but all wireless providers have bad coverage in rooms and the hotels wifi is too expensive + no AC since it was cold out side you can just open the window but decent enough for a shot 1-2 nights. would visit again.

At the time I booked it, there was a special, but I wouldn't pay regular price to stay there. Its like a motel / hostel. You have your own small room and sink, but you share the bathroom with other people on the floor. Each floor has a kitchen as well, with a hot plate, sink and microwave. I hope you don't mind eating out all the time, cause there's no place to store your food, unless you plan on eating cup noodles. The location is the only good thing about this place. Only 2 blocks from time sq... Read more

Pros: Awesome location and friendly/great staff, always helping when you need them, were able to resolve a situation for us and received some mail packages. They also had very clean aisles, daily cleaning at rooms and clean shared bathrooms. The prices are very competitive and are worth it for all that is close to it. Cons: Some noise of the street (expected, you are the very center of NYC) The elevator stops every time on the 2nd floor, when you are in a rush that is frustrating. Wish to make... Read more

If you're looking for small and cheap with no amenities in a good location, this might work. Rooms don't have bathrooms, so you need to share the one bathroom on each floor. There is a sink in each room and there is a kitchen on each floor as well. The rooms are very small, but kept clean. Access from the street is controlled by a buzzer, so it is also safe.

First of all, we arrived early and weren't allowed to check in but they kept our bags for us. The staff could be a little more friendly, they are in customer service and should be able to at least act like they're happy to see customers. The room was a good size with a cool New York view and a sink, tv and aircon. A microwave wouldve been nice as its so expensive to eat in nyc, wouldve been nice to have the option to warm something bought from a shop in the room. The bathroom was always tidy an... Read more

The hotel is advertised as 3 stars tops. You get exactly what you pay for and while it's true the rooms are kind of small, if you were a visitor like me, it's just somewhere to sleep while you're exploring the city. It was 10 mins walk max to empire state building, times square and madison square garden. Tube is located on a stop that visits more major attractions and shopping on 5th avenue is around the corner. The aircon buzzed a little loudly every 10 minutes or so, but worth it as we visited... Read more

We stayed at the Americana with a 50 person group to see Broadway shows. The Americana is centrally located within walking distance to the Theatre District, Central Park, museums and Times Square. On arrival, I was very impressed with the responsiveness and friendly service provided by the front desk manager and bell men, especially Jeff. The hotel has been recently refurbished and nicely decorated. The rooms are clean and bed was very comfortable. The room included a complimentary contintial b... Read more

Fantastic location just a short walk to 5th avenue, empire state and Rockefeller etc. Friendly staff. One of the cheaper rooms we found, although we were under the impression room came with own bathroom so most likely would have got a much better hotel with shared bathroom if it had been clear this was shared. Room basic, bit dated but fine. Very loud as right on busy junction. Lift INCREDIBLY slow and smelly. Does the job, in a great location but I think you could get better for your money.

I was nervous about staying at the Americana but all turned out well. It is no frills but clean and safe. No bathroom in room but at least 3 on the floor I was on...not once did I have to wait to use the bathroom. Bathrooms were immaculate. Bedding was a little threadbare but clean. The location was decent on 6th Ave but the subway was at least 3 blocks away. Grocery store and bank were only feet away with a coffee shop right across the street. I would stay there again.

You choose this hotel because of price and location. Forget friendliness at the reception, luxury in-room and soundproofing. it is possible to sleep and air conditioner is good. Restrooms and showers are clean and there are plenty of them

So this place is more of a hostel, not a hotel. The site I booked from did not advertise that it had shared bathrooms, and labeled it a "standard" room. That piece would not have ruined the stay in itself, but the bed was old and nasty, as were the sheets, and there was hair and dirt all over the room indicating it had not even been vacuumed in a while. I would not recommend this place. The only reason it got 2 stars instead of 1 is the proximity to popular places in NYC.

Rooms were quite small but clean with shared bath. It's a great location but impossible to sleep well. There was no free Wi-Fi. There was a very small shared kitchen which had a fridge and microwave. There was no coffee making facilities either.

This hotel/hostel does exactly what it says on the tin. Its a bed for the night.. . But it's clean and litrally round the corner to the empire state building. I had to share a bathroom but that was no trouble as all guest leave it as it is found. Bed was comfy and very quiet considering the location... I only needed some where to stay for 1 night so this place severed it's purpose. Safe and sound for solo women travelers

Staied there 8 nights in a Double Room (2 people), paid 785? (all taxes included) in Venere website, using a 15% discount coupon code. Tried 3 different rooms! Changed room because of the noise. Staied in a Twin Room in the corner, with 3 windows (408), a Twin room with only one window facing 38th street (404) and a double room on inside with one window (516) to some walls, you can see the photos bellow. They have about 20 rooms in each floor (I staied in 4th and 5h floor) and there were 5 s... Read more

The best location possible, 5 mins walk from Time Square, The Empire State Building and the shops on 5th Ave! Rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly! Subway near by which is $6 return to Ground zero and if you like walking it takes 30 mins to get to Central Park! It is just a room with a sink , wardrobe, draws and a comfy bed, shared bathroom but kept extremely clean and can be a bit noise when the fire engines scream past at night!
