I had a good decent stay. Staff was friendly at all points. The room was decent size for NY and was fitted out in standard Marriott Colorado scheme. I was a bit worried about noise in room facing Lexington avenue but it was quiet enough for good sleep quality. The hotel gets a fair amount of traffic and is a little worn in spots. The location is great for business.

The NY Marriott East Side is our go to hotel when we visit Manhattan. It is close to the subway, across the street from the hop on/ hop off bus, and within reasonable walking distance to 30 Rock, Times Square, and the theater district. I usually get a platinum upgrade, and the M Club lounge is very comfortable, with plenty of snacks and drinks. Highly recommended, and we will be back.

The location is excellent. The rooms are large and clean. The concierge lounge is wonderful and provides a variety of food selections. We enjoyed the restaurant's food and atmosphere located on the first floor.

As New York hotels go, it is adequate. As far as Marriott is concerned, it's not their greatest hotel. But, it's central, and close enough to Manhatten's business area, the theatre ditict, the garment district, the Grand Central, Broadway & Central Park. The room has all the usual fixtures. Great location, period. I asked for early check in and was granted at 1pm (instead of 4pm). They gave me a corner room. Large room for NYC. Quick bellman and valet park service. Helped with restaurants and the neighborhood. Would stay here again without question. Good value too

This is basically what one would expect from an expensive Marriott in NYC. There were some annoying issues however. The elevator to the fitness center was broken and based on the fancy signage that they had it seems like they are in no hurry to fix it. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Marriott East Side for 3 nights and absolutely enjoyed our stay. We didn't have to worry about anything. Immediately upon arrival, we were checked in (even early no problem), were upgraded to a room with a great view and were treated with the utmost care. I am a Marriott Rewards member and not sure if that is the reason but definitely we were surprised on the upside with the hospitality. This was a very nice hotel, but just a little pricey. Hotel staff was very nice and welcoming! Parking is a little outrageous. It is very close to the trains and a lot of nice restaurants and spas. It is easy to get a taxi to commute through out the city.

I can only rate this as average/good. The plus sides were that the hotel is in an acceptable location (10mins walk to times square) and central station a few minutes away. The rooms are clean and ours was quiet (although this is because it was not street facing and the windows looked into other blacked out windows) - no view at all. My husband and I stayed here one night for our anniversary. The hotel was modern and updated. We usually stay in Midtown but was pleasantly surprised at how close of a walk this was from Times Square and our usual hangouts. The Front desk very helpful when we wanted 2 Queens instead of King even at short notice. Room was nice & to our liking. Free Wi Fi available only in Lobby which is not a plus but then again they need to get what they can from Lazy Guests. This did not deter me from giving 4 stars though, I would have liked it. My wife did not mind going to the lobby and I was not happy to do it & deprived myself of Wi Fi.

Just blocks from all the hustle and bustle of Times Square without all the noise and crowds! Love the charm of this hotel. Staff was EXCELLENT!! I was very pleased with the room size for a NYC hotel. My only negative was the shower curtain was stinky and needs to be replace. Otherwise it was clean. Again location and staff was excellent!

Being a Platinum Elite with over 200 nights for this year, you get used to being treated a certain way at Marriott properties. This hotel did just that. I had used points to stay here, as the location was prime to everything you want on the east side. And it was near to all the subway stations you need to take to get anywhere. This is an older property that Marriott has refurbished nicely. The hotel elevators are a bit odd with some elevators only servicing certain floors, which requires two elevator rides to get to the gym on the top floor. They have now moved the concierge lounge (for any Marriott Gold members) to the second floor. The new version is very modern and attractive but I still prefer the older one on the 16th? Floor. I can't say enough positive things about the staff that work at this hotel. Most of the time you feel compelled to write a negative review when things go wrong, but rarely complete a review when they go right. Everyone from concierge, valet, room service and especially Jackie from the M-Club Lounge was perfect. Kudos to a wonderful staff.

Very outdated hotel and overpriced for what it is. No fridge in room and very noisy air conditioner. Not my idea of heaven. However it is centrally located. Look somewhere else would be my suggestion. We ate at Ashley's deli across the road and food was expensive in the hotel.

This was another great Marriott property overall. The lobby and housecleaning staff were all very friendly and polite. We had a corner room on the 23rd floor that was spacious for New York standards. The bed was excellent. The bathroom had some paint noticeably missing on the door frame. I think it stems from the fact that the bathrooms are poorly ventilated and retain a lot of moisture after, say, using the shower. I had a room on the third floor overlooking Lexington with a single big bed. The room was not quiet, but the A/C covered for most of the traffic noise. A/C worked well, bathroom was fine, bed was comfortable. This was a family vacation and we wanted to stay at a location that was not in the "heart" of everything. Great choice. We had chosen another hotel, but cancelled it. This location was more money, but definitely worth it. The room was on the 16th floor and all amenities were newly updated. We were all very comfortable and hated to leave. The location is within walking distance to most attractions.

I have stayed at this Marriott for close to 60 days over a three month period. I would say that it is a clean hotel with great beds and sheets. Street noise, size of bathroom, and wear and tear on rooms would be some of the main drawbacks. My recommendation is to stay on a higher floor.

Very clean rooms and the bed was amazing. The bed linens were soft and very high quality. On the 22nd floor with a limited view but I was impressed with how quiet it was. Bar was well serviced and the bourbon flight special was a delightful treat. Need to improve the elevator speed but overall a great place to stay.

The Marriott was in a good location. Safe area, which is about a 10-15 minute walk to the Times Square area. The hotel staff was accommodating. We ended up switching rooms after the first night because our room on the front side of the hotel allowed us to hear every horn, car door, and siren. Beds were comfortable and the catered food was good.

This hotel is located in a very good location near Grand Central Station and the Rockefeller Centre. Hotel situated perfectly too many major attractions in the city. Not as crowded or loud as the Marriott Marquis. Staff was incredibly friendly. Josh was great when I checked in. Margaret in the concierge lounge was extremely helpful with restaurant recommendations as well as local attractions. The furniture is in need of a dating and one of three elevators going towards the top floors frequently it did not work. Was a decent value for the money.

I stayed at this hotel 12-15 years ago and it seems like it is exactly the same. I stayed in a double occupancy room with my family of four and it was cramped. Additionally the bathroom had no source of ventilation so it got extremely stuffy and damp any time someone took a shower. I understand New York prices and small spaces - but they need to update this property for it to still feel like a mid-range Marriott property. Great location, however.

The New York Marriott East Side was a very nice property to stay at, the rooms were a bit smaller but very clean and modern for an older hotel. The location was central to everything and walking distance to the subway, all the midtown sites, and central park; there are also a lot of nice restaurants and bars in the area. Really enjoyed our stay at the New York Marriott East Side, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. We stayed three nights in this hotel. Rooms are small and air condition is very noisy. High time to refurbish. Staff is not friendly as I expected and compared with some of the other hotels. Bathroom amenities are not up to the four star hotel standards. Generally you cannot expect 4 star facilities. ??? Rooms rates are not worth for sure ! I recommend only the location.

The room was always really clean, and the service was great. The room I got had huge Windows, which enhanced the quality of the rooms. There is a little shop in the lobby which can help if you are looking for a snack. The location is great because, it is close to subway stations and attractions.

The location is great, only 10 minutes walk from Time Square, and 5 minutes walk from Grand Central station. We had a regular double room with king size bed. It was really spacious and comfortable. However the rooms on the Lexington side are noisy and as a result we woke up in the middle of the night, and we stayed on the 7th floor. The bathroom had a shower head attached on the wall so you had to take a full bath / shower every time you want a quick bath.

Large corner room (603). We had plenty of room for 4 women and luggage. The whole place is EXTREMELY quiet. No problem sleeping after seeing the city. I feel this is true for all rooms as I saw multiple airline pilots who need a good nights sleep. Pull your shades though as the man across in the next building enjoys window watching???.

I have just stayed in this hotel. This hotel is situated within partial walking distance from downtown New York. The position is relatively quiet as compared to the extreme crowded environment downtown, which is comparable to HK. The room is relatively proper considering near downtown. BTW, I think hotels in USA probably do not provide slippers, toothpaste, toothbrush which are constantly available in some other countries.

The best thing about the hotel is its location on Lex Ave. A 5 minute walk from both Grand Central & 51st Street Subway. The hotel has a slight old world charm to it. Sunday morning no hot water till 10:30, was told boiler issues and also told the hotel next door had same problem. None of that matters when forced to take a freezing cold shower. They did give me 10,000 reward points for the trouble. Don't think there is room service either. Rooms were clean. Hotel is in good location. Not our normal place to stay when in NY.

Fantastic staff! Very friendly and extremely helpful! The concierge helped my husband and I figure out the best photo location for us to snap a photograph of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline from Brooklyn. Rooms were clean. The Marriott on Lexington is a perfect way to experience New York City as it is in walking distance from all key main attractions including Grand Central; Library; Times Square and Rockefellar Centre. As a Platinum Marriott level member I go out of my way to stay loyal to the brand. I've stayed in a few other Marriott properties in New York but this was the first time we stayed here. Older hotel showing signs of age. Staff (other than restaurant) is great but can't overcome the many shortcomings. Biggest problem is intermittent internet and lack of an operational business center. This hotel is not suited to business travelers who need a well designed work area. The desk in my room was missing the pull out keyboard table making it almost impossible to use my laptop without causing back pain. In room internet was expensive with a spotty signal. This hotel continues to be a consistent Marriott with great location, good service and clean rooms. I will say this visit the Concierge (one guy and one extremely wonderful girl) were so helpful and friendly. I did not feel rushed or pushed into making a decision on tours, restaurants, etc. They patiently explained the subway, pointed out helpful tips and had fun doing it. I love to see people who enjoy "working"! Thanks again for the awesome weekend! Those two should be commended!

Great location on the east side. Lexington and 49th. A few blocks north is a metro station and a few blocks south is Grand Central. To the east is the UN. Coming/Going from LGA is easy and convenient. The rooms are nice size and there is a desk and comfy chair to get your business completed. The internet worked fine and was included in our room rate. Great location, pleasant and helpful staff, and spacious, clean room. When we asked for additional blankets, they were delivered promptly. We did eat at the hotel so I cannot comment on dining. Would come back.

The Marriott east side an amazing Marriott property centrally location on the east side of Manhattan. You can walk to the best shopping area that NYC has to offer and find many amazing restaurants along the way to stop for lunch.

What a nice hotel to stay in,very clean and close to all shopping, shows and restaurants.The doorman was very helpful.We are staying here this weekend for the 3rd time in a month as we are looking at real estate.Excellent to stay here for both business and pleasure.Highly recommended.

Our first night we had a room opposite three elevators and overlooking Lexington, non double glazed windows, they were full so no options, this was a bad nights sleep. Second night they managed to get us probably the quietest room in the place well away from elevators and overlooking an enclosed courtyard, and with double glazed windows. a really quiet and well furnished room. Extra points to staff for arranging this.

My daughter and I just returned from a birthday trip to the city and we always go back to the Marriott East Side on Lexington. The location is fabulous and there are wonderful restaurants in the neighborhood. We had an over sized room that made our stay even more comfortable. The bed and pillows were great, but the number on reason for staying at this hotel is Patrick! When he greets you, you feel like you are home!!!

I have stayed here multiple times over the past 5 years and this hotel is excellent. The staff are so attentive to the needs of the guests and treat me my wife and children like family every time we come to visit NYC. Bert is just the best and I look forward to seeing and speaking with him every time I stay. This last stay they upgraded our family to a bigger corner room and also gave us access to the M club. Perfect location at 49 and Lex. Just slightly outside the fray but convenient to everything. Wonderful and efficient service by all staff we encountered. Hotel ambiance is warm and historic - not the cold and stark gray, white and black scheme that is prevalent in hotel design these days. Rooms are fine and as expected for a mid-tier Marriott property.

Our room was quiet at night, at end of hallway. The bell hops were very friendly-Would hold bags for no charge after check out and before returning home. Nice lounge area to hang out in and do a little work, after checking out and flying out.

The hotel has a wonderful location. The lack of upkeep makes it look tired and worn out from all the travelers. My room was located on the 14th floor, the hallways had dented plaster, rub marks throughout, paint over painted chipped doors, overall worn out and tired appearance - not typical of updated Marriott properties. Overall, outstanding location, great staff - well overdue for a makeover.

The location of the hotel is very convenient and the staff are very friendly. The room was decent but not newly renovated or more modern. My major issue was the mold in the bathroom. I smelled something funky when I arrived in the room but I thought it might have been the lingering scent of the prior people who stayed there. Friendly, Courteous, Attentive staff. Having read reviews before booking, we were not expecting more than a place to store our luggage. We felt comfortable, even though the room was tiny by our standards, but, normal by The City standards. The Staff made all the difference!

Great location for exploring Manhattan. Overnight parking at $75 per night is a bit steep but you can find overnight parking within walking distance online for as little as $25 per night. Our room was nothing special and could probably be renovated. However, the gym and Concierge Level were both nice. Great recommendation and "Free Drink" coupon from one of the doorman for nearby pub

I stayed two nights in mid-October at the NY Marriott East Side. Very little would have made the stay any better. Check in and out via the mobile app was easy. The room was spacious enough for two with bags. The closet was offset in a small hallway/room which helped to provide additional space. This was my first time staying while on business in the area. I have to say it surpasses what I've experienced with other hotels nearby. The room was spacious and clean and the location was convenient. I will definitely stay again. Check in and out was easy.

Our company arranged a conference here, and we were quite disappointed. Price was high, room was barely standard (plus for size and decent bed, minus for noise from street, no minibar, dated interior). Hotel has no roomservice and you need to order from outside if you are hungry after the restaurant closes. Service at front desk was also below par.

I always like to preface my reviews with my Platinum status(ie. I travel alot for work). This hotel was a 5 star experience! I was so glad to spend the weekend here. The proximity to Grand Central makes it very easy to get around the city as well as restaurants and Broadway. This was our second 3-night stay at the Marriott East Side -- comparable October weekend in 2015 and 2016. We liked the hotel well enough to return, but had a better experience this year overall, and would definitely stay there again. We loved the convenience of this Marriott to subways ,dining & coffee shops etc. The hotel was very clean , quiet and the staff welcoming and helpful. Our long weekend in this bustling city was eased with the comfort of great accommodations with the glam of older NYC hotels For being in the city I felt our rooms were spacious and beds super comfortable. I would recommend!

The hotel is located near Central station and Chrysler building, and you can almost walk to most sightseeings and museums. Time square is also nearby. The room was Clean, quiet and cozy, with Air condition but no free wifi (free only at the lobby). We did not had breakfast included since it was extra charged, but we found excellent spots nearby where you can enjoy various types of breakfast. We recommend it!!

Some of the reviews say the hotel is older. It is - and when you walk into the lobby it has its own character. The rooms are typical Marriott - and to me that's a good thing. I never thought that I would be raving about a Mariott. Stayed one night for a medical conference. We loved the room: it was clean and very welcoming and elegant, quiet. We had a king size bed, there was a small fridge too. I assume that conference food for breakfast and lunch was prepared at the hotel. I just checked in and received the best service from the front desk agent, Collette. To make a long story short, my purse was stolen right before the trip which was obviously terrible timing. ID, Credit cards. etc. She went out of her way to assist me and make my stay comfortable. I used to work in luxury hotels and the level of service she provided was 5 star! Hotel and rooms are very nice as well. I will be back.

Stayed here for the first time in November 2016 and was pleasantly surprised. I had meetings near Grand Central and have grown tired of Times Square so I chose the Marriott East Side for my one night stay. We stayed here for 4 nights and found the whole stay very enjoyable, we had a massive room and the staff were friendly and helpful whenever we needed them. The breakfasts were good and a decent variety on offer as well. We found the location ideal for getting around the city and the metro stops were close by and a lot of things were in walking distance from the hotel which really helped.

I attended a conference at the hotel and stayed 3 nights. It is conveniently located, well kept, and will provide the services and quality one expects at a big city Marriott. That said, the hotel is a bit quirky. It is an updated version of an older hotel has illustrated by assorted sign. I was in town for the NYC marathon for four nights. I rarely write reviews but I had to sit down and recognize the superior service Joydeb and Norman provided in the Marriott Club. These two dedicated employees came in really early on the day of the race to help get our day started off on the right foot. They made us feel so special throughout our visit and really went above and beyond to take care of our group. Overall the hotel is lovely but these two employees made our trip extraordinary.

This is our favorite NY hotel. We much prefer it to the pricey/crowded Marriott Marquis. Marriott Rewards points go further here. It's a few blocks from Times Square but is a quick walk to all the major tourist spots. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. They have the best concierge floor I've seen. Great breakfast and heavy enough appetizers that we used it for dinner. Great place!

We stayed for one night at NY Marriott East Side. In hindsight, we should have stayed at W hotel right opposite which is newer and is owned by the same group. Hotel is terribly old with outdated carpet. My allergy was acting up likely due to the dust kept on the old carpet. Need to store my luggage for a week but was charged about $10 even though I was guest there. Bell boy were non existent and wasn't helped with my luggage. I was in town for a trade show and wanted to be at a hotel central to everything. This Marriott has it all. There was a slight problem with my reservation as it didn't show up correctly in their system. The Manager was extremely apologetic and gave me an upgraded room which gave me more space to spread out. The furnishings in the room are older, but well maintained. I had just finished a long day at work. I called Marriott East Side. The reservation process was quick and painless. The check in upon arriving was both polite and fast. We have stayed at this hotel for years. At our last stay, Joshua at the front desk was enormously helpful and friendly. All the staff is welcoming. The rooms are clean. We came with our children and grandchildren. The lobby is alive and full of excitement. Today they served muffins and cider which our grandchildren enjoyed! The hotel isn't new or modern but makes up for it with its welcoming ways.

This hotel is fabulous! We stayed for 3 nights over Thanksgiving for the parade. Very helpful and late check out too, 2pm! The hotel is clean. Great location to the subway and some places to grab a quick bite! 99 cents pizza just down the street, great pizza and a tex mex place that has the best burritos I have ever had! Stayed in this hotel for its midtown location. The room and bathroom are relatively small but comfortable. Amenities are typical for Marriott. The concierge room is large and well stocked. It is expensive, but within the range for high end NYC hotels. Service staff were responsive and helpful.
