"Awesome old hotel! We stayed as a family in a double room which had two bathrooms. It was clean, staff was professional, and beds were comfortable. It's location was central to all the activities we planned. Definitely recommend this hotel!"

"We absolutely enjoyed our stay at The Wyndham. Our room was in a centralized location-within walking distance of Times Square and the shopping district. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were just right-although a bit cold for me (we asked and received extra blankets)."

"My husband and I are very, very, fussy travelers, mostly in relationship to noise, beds, etc. At first I was not sure about the hotel. It is right next to Penn Station, and midst lots of basic restaurants and generally a very noisy area. The hotel is old style New York..which of course could of meant quite dreadful. I had found a very reasonable rate for a suite since we were planning a longish visit and I had read the reviews about the standard room. I have to say despite our initial reservations when approaching the hotel I was pleasantly surprised. The suite was not enormous but there were only the two of us and so it was very roomy. We had two bathrooms and our bedroom was on a high floor on a corner. We had requested a quiet room and we got it. The heating was totally under our control in both rooms and as we hate heating at night we were able to turn it off in either room. My husband didn't sleep well the first night, so opted to try out the pull out bed on the second. We were amazed that it was actually very comfortable. All the linen was available in the closet - we didn't have to go to the trouble of asking. We had a fridge too - which was great for storing snacks and water. We were given a Keurig to use (on request) which was useful. The bathrooms are of course very old, in the style of the hotel, but since there were two (we had one each), we found them perfectly adequate. The water temp. was fine (unlike the experiences some other guests seemed to of had) - the spray a bit old fashioned and not adjustable. There was a TV in each room which was nice. I thought the staff were really great - very friendly and helpful, especially as we had to store all our luggage on the last day and I was a bit nervous about leaving open bags. I would definitely stay again - the location turned out to be perfect for us since we spent a lot of time both up town and down town, and could walk back at night if we wanted to, or easily get a cab. The subway would also have been very easy. The slight negatives - if you are a very healthy eater the Tick Tock is a little tough to eat in, but if you like large Irish Style breakfasts go for it. The continental I actually found to be fine. It was complimentary (or you could use it to deduct $5 off another breakfast), and I added a side of bacon which made it very reasonable. The orange juice was freshly squeezed.. It could of all been a bit hotter and another time I would request this.. so in summary, if you want to be able to access all of New York easily, and like to feel you can walk to places, and like 'old style New York' this is a good place to stay. If the suites are on special offer I highly recommend that option. Everyone I met who was staying in a standard room did say they were pretty small. I would also recommend a high floor, away from the elevator....oh, and I found the bed really comfortable, amazingly slept very well, which is extremely unusual for me when I stay in hotels, even 5* ones !!!"

"We stayed 4 nights and had a great suite ! The beds are a little short but we were so tired from all the running around- we fell asleep right away ! The staff was fantastic- couldn't be more helpful or nicer !i thought the bathrooms were roomy and we never felt cramped even with 5 of us in a room. The Tick tock is a great place to have breakfast and the location is awesome. I would stay here again !"

"The New Yorker is an older hotel with lots of history. You can imagine gangsters walking down the narrow, maze of hallways. We stayed in a suite. It was efficient but not fancy. We used two beds and a pull-out couch. The pull-out was more comfortable than most as it had a foam mattress, no springs. The continental breakfast was disappointing. One morning the restaurant we were supposed to go to was closed so we were treated to the sky lounge breakfast. The staff at the entrance to the room made us feel like they were doing us a huge favor by letting us in. The view was wonderful but there was minimal choice for food (all carbs, no yogurt, protein or fruit). The other two breakfasts were even worse. A certificate for continental breakfast downstairs meant a box of juice, coffee, and your choice of one of five pastries. Don't bother with continental breakfast. Either go to the diner attached or walk on the street for a variety of choices. The concierge service was ok. One guy didn't seem to know too much but we got what we wanted. We took a hop on hop off bus tour, arranged through the concierge. We paid $50 for what we could have gotten for $29 had we gone straight to the bus instead. A concierge service should be getting you a deal, not causing more expense. The hotel location is wonderful. Walking distance to a lot of shopping, Maddison Square Gardens, Penn Station, the Empire State Building, Time Square, plus more. We would stay there again."
