Weekend in New York, found this Holiday Inn Express couple of blocks from Times Square, easy walk from Penn Station. A lot of development going on in the area including most chain hotels. Relatively new property, typical tight NYC layout, 6 rooms per floor, nicely appointed - K-cup brewer, safe, firm & soft pillows, reliable Wi-Fi. Fast elevators, professional staff, decent breakfast with pancakes, premade omelets, and usual fare. Couple of minor negatives: ice & vending machines are only on abo... Read more

Stayed for 3 nights at this hotel, booked only 2 days before arriving because prices dropped last minute. Check-in was easy other than a short delay when the front desk staff having to answer a phone call while checking me in. Room on the 25th floor, very quiet and far from street noise, with a classic Manhattan view of a brick wall which we were not surprised with. Size is small but we still felt not cramped like in some other Manhattan hotels. Two elevators for 36 floors, they run super fast,... Read more

We usually stay in a Holiday Inn Express whenever we travel. We always feel it's a good value for our money. This hotel was no exception. Being in the middle of Manhattan close to Times Square, this hotel was pretty narrow with a small lobby. There were only 2 elevators to service 36 floors and over 200 rooms, so coming down during the day there are always multiple stops. Breakfast time is especially busy. The breakfast area is small and can get crowded so be prepared if you go during peak hours... Read more

Stayed in this hotel for a week and had a satisfying experience. The hotel is very near to Times Square 42nd Street subway station and this helped me travel throughout NY city. The reception staff were very courteous. We were 2 people and the double room was spacious enough considering this hotel is in the heart of NY city. The breakfast area is small and gets crowded after 8am. Hence, please go before 8am if you want a seat and have a relaxed breakfast. Otherwise, nothing to complain about. I w... Read more

Having had some less than stellar experiences with other chains in NYC, I was not expecting great things at a Holiday Inn Express. I was pleasantly surprised when my expectations were exceeded. This is one of the NYC hotels that has few rooms on each floor but has numerous floors. After a very pleasant greeting at Check-In, they were able to accommodate a change in the bed configuration for the room we were given. We were on the 20th floor. When we arrived we were greeted by one of their lovely receptionist who informed us that as it is my 40th birthday we were given an early check in, an upgrade to a room on the 34th floor where we had amazing views of the new Freedom Tower, the Hudson river and the Empire State Build... We stayed from 14th to 20th June. The front desk staff were very helpful and made the extra effort to locate my missing walking stick. It is much appreciated. However, a big contrast in good and bad service was experienced at the concierge desk. The young man on concierge duty on 19th June was rude and condescending. We love that there is always hot and cold water available at the lobby.

I recently stayed at this Holiday Inn Express. I found the hotel staff to be friendly and attend to ones needs. The hotel itself is nice, clean but small rooms make it a tight fit. It's within walking distance of the heart of Time Square and provides great views of the city. Parking is pricey at $55 for valet and takes a long time for them to drop off the vehicle. The room was very small . Probably understandable considering it was New York but the front desk were reluctant to hold our luggage (which we don't need in the room) so we're forced to keep 8 suitcases in a tiny room. The elevators were full all the time so each trip down took a good 5-10 minutes with waiting and stop at every floor. The only good part of our stay was the convinient location.

First visit to New York, so maybe this is normal. I've stayed at over 30 Holiday Inn properties and this was the worst property but triple the rate of other cities. Service was very good, but rooms were tiny and in bad need of renovation. Their website states "modern accommodations". Maybe it was modern in 1970. Excellent location. Short walk to Times Square. Only 6 rooms per floor so every room is close to the elevator that sounds like the subway. Front desk put us on 29th floor with a "vie... Read more

We stayed at the holiday inn express from the 23rd October to 27th October. The hotel itself is in a perfect location, just round the corner from Times Square and in a great location for visiting most midtown attractions and is still close enough to walk to Central Park and downtown manhattan. The rooms are a tad small but the beds are comfy, bathrooms good and you have everything you need for a few nights stay in the city. I would definitely recommend asking for a city view room. There were o... Read more

Pro: Room was clean & staff was friendly. Was able to print our boarding passes for next day flight. Didn't get to have breakfast bc our flight was early am. Con: We had packages delivered here that were unable to be found when we checked in. Not exactly great customer service since I called prior to booking to ensure this was allowed. Room wasn't ready when we arrived & we were plenty exhausted after flying for 13hrs. It was prior to 4pm check in though so not entirely their fault, just inco... Read more

Simple, clean and in a fairly convenient location. Henry at the front desk was awesome. The staff were all wonderful - except the cleaning staff who insisted on talking non-stop outside our room the entire time they worked on our floor in the AM. Rooms are very small but who cares, we spent no time in there except to sleep. breakfast is tough to get - it's very crowded in there. My friend broke her tooth on one of the biscuits and it's an expensive fix. Thank God I didn't have any of that to eat... Read more

Very central position for all the sights. Close to subway so can explore further around Manhattan. Clean bedrooms although slightly small but we hardly spent anytime apart for sleeping and showering, which was very large. Breakfast was excellent, better than we thought it would be. Plenty of bars and restaurants close by. We recommend this hotel

good location. simple and clean rooms, no frills hotel. The breakfast was a good spread and had good options to choose from. Stayed here for 4 nights as this was my solo trip to NYC and its a safe hotel for women travelers like me. Its a few blocks walking distance from Times Square.

Perfectly located near public transportation and Times Square. The elevators do not seem to be fast enough for the number of floors, especially when house service is using them as well. Over all great experience will return

Stayed here for 3 nights after a trans-Atlantic cruise. You can walk to many of the New York attactions, for example Times Square is only 10 minutes walk. We were in room 1502, and as others have said the rooms are a bit small, but we managed fine with 3 suitcases. The hotel and room are kept clean and the front desk staff and the consiege were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is fine with a few hot choices, but the breakfast room is too small and got very crowded at times. There are only 2 lifts... Read more

My wife, daughter and I were in NYC for a long weekend to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. Her primary interest was seeing a few Broadway shows. We made it to 3 during our 4 night stay. This hotel was within a reasonable walking distance to everything that we wanted to do. Our room had 2 double beds and was pretty cramped, but everything was in working order. The WiFi worked well and breakfast was better than expected. The breakfast staff and the front desk staff did a great job. We would... Read more

Our room was clean and around the size that you see for NYC. Not generous, but comfortable. It had a frig and coffee machine in it. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated the room darkening shades. The breakfast was good that came with our stay. The area is quite cramped though. It gave us an opportunity to meet other people from around the world though as we struck up conversations with them since we were so closely seated. :) I am a light sleeper and not used to street noise, so I found i... Very pleasant comfortable stay. Very convenient to MSG, Times Square, and other attractions. Amazing how quiet the hotel was. Room was small but that is par for the course. Very quiet stay in a very busy place!

We spent 5 nights at holiday in express in August 2016 and we were very happy regarding the welcome. the staff is very helpful and great. The room was clean and we had a small view of the Empire State Building. The location was very good, the hotel is near time square and everything in the upper side of manhattan. The only bémol is the breakfast: it is very good for a free breakfast but it is open to the guest of the hotels around the holiday inn and so very crowded. We recommend kindly the ho... Read more

I've stayed at many Holiday Inn Expresses all over and this one is tiny. Tiny lobby, rooms, breakfast. Elevators take a long time because there are so many floors. Good location to Times Square, Theater District and Hell's Kitchen and within walking distance to all.

Central location very close to Times Square. Very comfortable beds. Rooms not huge but adequate for our needs as did not spend much time there. Breakfast room was a little small but we managed to get a seat every morning. Quite a good choice. Free wifi for a definite bonus.

The location of this hotel is very convenient and rate is very reasonable for NYC. A few experience and observation to share. Check-in: I gave my last name to the front-desk lady and she couldn't find it. I booked the room through Expedia but did not print out the receipt as I never needed in ages. I had to get on my laptop to get the email. When I provided the reservation number, she found it and exactly on "my" name. Elevator: I have seen some complaint here about waiting for the elevator so w... Read more

This hotel was too small for two adults and two teenagers to share one room. The halls were small, the elevators were slow, and the breakfast room was too crowded (probably just because there were too many room for such a small breakfast area). We would not stay there again. But the customer service was big. Friendly staff at the front desk and in the breakfast area. It's a clean hotel too. The location is great. Near what we wanted to see and subway stations. So if you're not in a hurry and don... Read more

Small rooms, big bed, all you need, BUT the carpets are hideous please change them even if they are not dirty they look it! Reception agents are superb, helpful, knowledgable and courteous. We had to ask most days for our coffee pods to be delivered for the morning, but otherwise it was a smooth easy comfortable stay in a central area, close to everything.

A little further away from Times Square than we were expecting but the quieter location suited us. Room very clean, tidy and well equipped - the king room city view room was just fine for our 3 night stay. THe real bonus in this hotel is the complimentary breakfast which can save quite a few dollars. The dining room got a little crowded at times but the hardworking and helpful Oscar kept everything under control and good humoured. Plenty of choice of food and drinks available.
