I choose this hotel because it is new and close to the subway. The area is a little scary but convenient to Manhattan. The reason I give it 4 stars is because the first room I was assigned to was a beautiful corner room but it smelt like dog. I was really upset about it and they were very happy to move me straight away. The second room didn't smell like dog but it did smell like pet cologne so I had to keep the window open to air it out. Also it was a disabled room so I sort of felt like I was s... Read more

BUT the pool, spa etc. are not operating yet., the lobby is incredible, very spacious and airy, sunlite- wonderful place to sit and meet people, Mostly empty too. staff is great. rooms are very nice, but not overly large. top of the line for holiday inn however. the coffee maker is akeurig and is in the closet. yuou have to set it up yours... Hotel is brand spanking new and super-clean. Service was friendly. Location is terrific, right next to multiple subway lines, super-close to shops and restaurants on Atlantic Avenue, and I found free street parking very easily on the weekend. The property has some issues though. We listened to the sound of slamming doors all night long - it's insane how loud they were. The thermostat in the rooms shut down if there is no movement detected, which is fine for during the day, but becomes a bit of a... Read more

We stayed for two nights over Memorial Day weekend. The property is very nice, beautiful lobby, friendly staff. The room is "New York small" but workable. We had problems with broken blinds, workers banging on the AC at 9 am on a holiday weekend and a clogged faucet diffuser (from uncleared construction.) But the biggest problem was the water pressure. Our showering experience was the worst ever in a national chain hotel. There wasn't enough water to thoroughly rinse away shampoo and soap.... Read more

This contemporary hotel opened just a month ago. It is sleek, spare, and ultra modern. The rooms are small but well appointed. Everything you need is at your fingertips. (Who needs a large room when you are in NYC?). The staff was helpful and friendly. The pool will open next week. Right downtown in Brooklyn, this hotel is close to the subway and the Barclay Center.

Stay started off pretty rough to stay the least. After a lengthy drive and much too long wait for the valet, we were finally able to check in. Finally get the key to our room on the top floor (14th) and have a prolonged elevator wait (as others have talked about the lifts are slow when the hotel guest are active) we get to our room to find the air conditioner/heater removed from the wall, the thermostat disconnected and hanging by cords, and various construction tools in the room. We would definitely stay here again. It is a beautiful hotel in a great location with friendly staff and comfy beds. Probably would make two design tweaks to the rooms however..... the safe is in an awkward location and the bathroom, while attractive and adequate is lacking in sufficient counter space. Older Holiday Inns often have small counter extensions that continue past the sink. That would have been nice. We managed nonetheless. The shower configuration did not include a tub but that... Booked two rooms on the 8th floor to attend a family weekend wedding in downtown Brooklyn. Was told upon check in we were given an upgraded room with a Verrazano Bridge view -- baloney! we were put in a room facing north (not towards the bridge, no view). That set the tone for the stay. Also, although the hotel is new and attractively furnished, the quality of construction and furnishings is poor, so that, in the rooms, the finishes are already wearing, with small chips in the furniture and st... Once this hotel was opened for business I was one of its first guest. Kernita, Assata and Kevin went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I have become a regular at this hotel and every time I go back, it feels like my first. The hotel and valet staff remembers my name and I'm treated like royalty. Thanks to the mentioned staff for making my stay feel like a home away from home.

There are some really nice things about this hotel. The lobby area is beautiful. Staff was great: helpful and efficient at check-in, quick to supply cups and towels that we needed. Kevin, bellman at check-in and when we left, was really helpful, friendly, and did a great job. Customer service in general was excellent. Since this is a new hotel, we expected some small glitches. Maybe a 20 minute to Brooklyn Bridge (or $10 via cab) and 5 minutes walk to the subway. The hotel only had two lifts which caused lift-travel to be very slow. There is a bar and restaurant attached.

We had a very good stay at the Holiday inn Brooklyn downtown. The rooms are small but very comfortable and clean. Air condition is very good and efficient and there is a small refrigerator in the room where you can keep cold soft drink and food if you stay there for more then one day, there is also free Wifi in the room, and daily room cleaning is very good. Our room was on the 12th floor (room 1211) which is describe as a city view room and I believe is also more expensive because of the view... Read more

I have been to NYC many times and usually stay in Manhattan, but decided to stay at this new hotel during our last Trip to NYC to escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, and to try something different. I am a platinum ambassador IHG member and I use points (rewards nights) for this stay. Another factor in choosing this hotel was the pool and whirlpool. The hotel is conveniently located 2 blocks from Nervins St subway station, and within 10 mins walk to many other stations for other lines. ... Read more

I stayed at this hotel on a work trip for nearly four weeks and it wasn't too bad overall. The rooms are extremely small as many have pointed out, but I'm not surprised considering it is New York. If you have a double bed room, then 1 bed is within a foot of the bathroom door. The bathroom is also tiny so you may want to pack a toilet bag that can hang over a towel rack. The hotel is pretty clean in general, but if you are detail oriented like me then you may not like the room cleaning service... Read more

I want to commend the staff at Holiday Inn Downtown Brooklyn for their exemplary customer service. This Holiday Inn exceeded my expectation in that when we arrived, everyone greeted us with a genuine smile and warm welcome. Spent two nights here for a weekend visit to Brooklyn. The location is great, we could get to the venues we had tickets for (Kings Theatre and BAM) very easily either by cab or subway. Sleep quality cannot be beat. Our room was perfect. Quiet heat/ac unit, very dark shades, comfortable and clean beds and bedding. Absolutely no noise from outside or in the hallways (which is amazing given that the building is right over a subway line!) I slept the best there that I have in some time. I'd st... Read more

The hotel was a great base for our 5 night stay in New York. Having visiting the city many times before, we don't feel the need to stay in Manhattan. This hotel was great value and close to the main subway lines needed to get to/from the airports and city, but had plenty in the local area to explore too! The room was very clean and the staff very friendly. The only downside was the lack of food service late at night - but we found local places open late so that was easily solved! We didn't ha... The hotel was convenient to the subway which we used all the time. Luckily, the hotel was also close to family living in Brooklyn. I was disappointed that Breakfast was not included. Also, airport shuttle service would have been appreciated.

The room was very small, but it was adequate. The interior was also very modern and chic. However, the hotel had a few down sides. The room was very small, bathroom sensor light turns off when you're in the shower, and the room was also not very clean. During our stay, they also had construction going on in the rooms around us, so that was also unpleasant.

Visiting colleges in NY and needed a reasonable room for our party of four. Most hotels in NY for some reason only offer kings or two doubles. Hotel was new, reasonable rate ( for NY) and offered two queen beds. Room was still smallish but clean and comfortable enough for a one night stay. Commute back into the city the next morning was not bad at all. Would reccomend if you don't mind staying a little out the city. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance.

The hotel is very close to a subway station that takes you directly to Manhattan. The staff is super nice and the rooms are very new and clean. We´ve stayed in a double queen room that was perfect. The only issue we had is that the bed is way to close to the bathroom door (this can be easily fixed reducing the size of the night stand that divides both beds). As a IHG rewards member I got an "upgrade" to a room with a view, very nice touch from the reception desk.
