This was the first time we've stayed at this DoubleTree and we will definitely stay here on our next NYC trip. It is conveniently located to the Port Authority, subways, theatres, shopping,Times Square, and the Javits Center (Bolt Bus travelers). The hotel is 4 years old and the rooms are clean and modern. The hotel staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. We especially enjoyed the very reasonable "Happy Hour" from 5 - 8 pm. Also, there are lots of good restaurants near the hotel. We thoroug... I slept well and the WiFi was quick which is great. The location for the Times Sq area is good although the rooms are tighter than typical for the area. The breakfast was passable and wth a broader selection of free items for HH members vs other NYC hotels, which is nice. The gym is horrendous. There is cardio equipment but no free weights and the weight machine is missing half the attachments that would make it palatable - the attachment may only be there for one side, not both. Despite the fact that Hell's Kitchen has become one very desolate burrough in Manhattan, this hotel delivers its promise of making you feel at home. The staff always friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is always performed on time; Breakfast always served with flexible schedule for those who overslept or had to do some overnight work, Room Service fantastic!! I'd have their bacon cheeseburger again any day!

Good location. Easy check in/out. Front desk is excellent. Room is clean. Beds and pillows are very comfy. Beware of housekeepers. You might not be able to retrieve what you accidentally left behind. When we called back to the hotel for the bottle my daughter forgot to get it from the fridge. Front desk transferred me to Housekeeping (while they can just check with Security right away - as they said anything left behind would be sent to Security - but they did not do that but transferring me. Could hear my neighbors talking, coming & going. Breakfast on first floor is very good. A rated. You can choose from hot/cold buffet with eggs, bacon, fruit, danish or order from menu. Bar with happy hour also on first floor. Getting a taxi is a little difficult down this street but the bell hop is anxious to assist. I would stay... Read more

Closer to Penn station than Times Square but great location if you want to travel on the subway or NJRR to Newark Airport. Not too many restaurants or fast food available nearby, but there are a few a couple blocks away. No soda machines, which is surprising, or laundry on site -- there is a bar that sells sodas but it isn't open all the time.

Back for our second visit and just as wonderful as last year. Love the location and the warm cookies. My husband misplaced his wallet and it was handed into reception by an employee but they didn't leave their name. So thank you for being honest and saving us from what could of been a disastrous time in NY

The proximity to Penn Station along with the friendly staff make this hotel a possible option for a return trip to the city. The elevator and the breakfast on the other hand will have me looking elsewhere for sure. Construction all day long, horrible elevator service and poor quality food really set the employees up for failure, come on owners spend a little more money and make this a top notch Hilton property.

We took the bus into Manhattan Port Authority Bus Terminal to travel to Boston by bus but all buses were booked. We decided to spend the night. There was a lot of noise due to construction across the street and the elevator took forever each time but the ladies at the 10 th floor bar at happy hour were so nice and helpful. This DoubleTree was very affordable when I stayed there and it's not far from some NYC hot spots and Subway access. The staff is very well managed and friendly and helpful. This is a bit of an older DoubleTree in some ways, so know that. The rooms can be a little tired, but not bad. The area, between 8th and 9th Aves isn't great late at night (though there's a big NYPD station a block away) but during the day, it's fine. Thinking this would be a great venue going by the name and picture, very disappointed to say the least. On the last leg of our 32 day trip from the UK, this has to be one of the biggest let downs we had. Our check in experience was the worst, and one that made us know we had chosen the wrong hotel. This hotel is really out of the Hilton/Doubletree standards. Everything starts with the name "Times Square South" which is not close to the Times Sq at all, needing to walk at least 20 minutes to reach it. Considering walking in the night is not so safe. Apart from that, the hotel is close to some constructions going on (still in the beggining). So the noise is really loud and the buliding shakes. If you want to wake up a bit late, forget it!! The hotel is for business reasons located near the Javits Center, this is the main reason we stay there. The service in the hotel itself is so and so, check in staff not very friendly and really not honouring a diamond card member at all. The rooms are small, and since we stayed 6 nights, we requested a refridgerator, which could barely fit the room. The room attendants are very friendly however and she arranged to bring the fridge while we were gone.

Very warm welcome when we arrived. The staff were only too willing to help out with answers to our questions. The room was cosy for 3 of us and so not a lot of storage space for all of us. When there were issues with the room, staff were quick to respond - shortage of towels, not enough coffee or cups and the safe run out of batteries on the key pad. All problems sorted quickly and in friendly manner. I'd stay there again.
