I had stayed here many times, but not recently. I was curious to see how things had been maintained. My room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff were all very helpful. The location is excellent for my priorities in NYC. The hotel is calm, tastefully decorated and beautiful from the street. My only complaint is the price of the breakfast buffet. While the food is very good, it is more expensive than Paris.

Good size room and the bed was super comfy. The service was truly outstanding, really. From the front door to the check-in. Superb. I would definitely visit again and ask for a king size bed for sure. Love the decor and front lounge. Did not try their restaurant but will next time. I like how it is upstairs. Great ambience.

Third time back and still love it here. Location is so central- easy to walk unto Grand Central- Madison Park few blocks down and Empire State, Macys practically around the corner. We travelled as a family and one couple had the Empire Terrace Penthouse beautiful views, Empire State building over looks the terrace and in the distance you can see the new World Trade centre and the Chrysler building. We had a really lovely weekend stay - all too short! The staff were friendly and helpful, making some recommendations for breakfast (make sure you go to Penelope's just two blocks away for a great start to your day) and dinner that were spot on! The wine hour (from 5.00pm to 6.00pm each week day evening) makes for a great buzz in the lobby/reception area and is a perfect way to start an evening. This was our fourth time staying and we love it. The staff is wonderful and the location just cannot beat. A great mid point between east and west sides of NY and with great comfortable shoes, all in walking distance. We also enjoyed the restaurant this time. The bed is great and comfortable. Lots of pillows and great duvet and sheets. Bathroom is well appointed. A bit pricey but still worth it.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Roger. The hotel has a distinct style and the lounge, mezzanine and other aspects of the environment were comfortable and welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful although they could have been more proactive on little things. The location is ideal for enjoying various aspects of Manhattan. Certainly planning to return.

We had a lovely 5 night stay here in late April. The staff was highly professional and the room was clean, quiet and lovely- we had one of the terrace king rooms. It had a pocket handkerchief terrace and a view of the Empire State building. The bar is welcoming, and the afternoon wine was a nice extra. We didn't have breakfast here, as there are so many places within easy distance for cheaper options but it looked very good. Eataly and Birch Coffee for sure! We would definitely stay here again.

Our room was nice - bathroom was small but would rather have more space in the room at the expense of having a bathroom. I was delightfully surprised by the Roger, having stayed at a number of "boutique" hotels that are a little rough around the edges. The location on Madison and 31st is quiet but an easy walk to the train stations; and for New York, the hotel offers very reasonable prices (and were up front about the "resort fee," both when I booked and checked in). My room was very clean and very comfortable. It was very quiet at night; other reviewers have mentioned the air conditioning that kicks on, and becau... Read more

Right, let's put this review into context before embarking on any criticism. This was a return visit to the Roger in successive years, principally our visit is timed to be in New York for the US Open Tennis, and should we return for the same reason next year, then we would almost certainly use the Roger again. The hotel, and its staff, are lovely. It is in an absolutely perfect location, away from the madding crowd but close enough for a short walk to take you to wherever you wish to be, whether... I booked The Roger because it is listed on Mr. and Mrs. Smith - a reliable boutique/luxury hotel site. Compared to the other New York listings I have enjoyed (Bowery, Ludlow, NoMad, Crosby Street, Surrey, Gramercy Park), The Roger was a disappointment. The service was poor. It took over 45 minutes to check in. Plus, I requested a quiet room with a view and was placed next to the elevator. Carpets are worn and stained in the hallways and in particular in front of the elevator. The room decor... Read more

This boutique hotel ticked all of my boxes from its friendly welcoming doormen to the stylish waiting area which turns into a very civilised bar area during the week. The room was a great size immaculately furnished and wonderfully quiet. My only complaint would be the absence of a coffee machine which is essential when travelling from the other side of the world as you'll always need a coffee outside of cafe opening hours.

Stayed here for five nights and enjoyed it! Great location, rooms decent size bearing in mind that everything in NYC is smaller than expected. Lovely staff very helpful. Rooms cleaned everyday. Great location, walking distance from many main sights along 5th avenue and Broadway and Times Square. So handy to get to and get everywhere! Only negative I have is that the walls are a bit thin so if you have noisy neighbours with very loud voices you will here. But I understand that was my personal exp... Read more

I booked the Roger so my family could be close to the parade the next morning. I live in NJ and they were determined and I didn't want them to have to commute from NJ. I loved the location because it was close enough for us to walk to the parade and far enough from the crazy. The warm cider in the lobby was a nice touch and I enjoyed the festive vibe. The bathroom was huge, although the room with double beds was kind of snug. Overall, it was a great stay and we'd definitely come back!

Hotel was spacious and clean, small bathroom compared to large sleeping area. The only down fall is there is no in room control of the air- it was warm in NY, but the heat was already on so it was 78 degrees in our room. The windows open, but there is construction over night across the street. Great place, but would love to install separate air control!

Nice place, rather modern style, a lot of decoration details that make the stay cosy. Friendly staff, rooms are rather big for NY. Bathroom in comparison a little small. Excellent pictures of rock stars in the lobby !

Lovely boutique hotel, was in a perfect location to shops / sights. Very polite service, friendly and helpful staff. Happy hour on the weekdays was a lovely touch in the plush lobby. Room was very lovely, great sight of the empire state building, great nights sleep, not to noisy. Overall, would recommend this hotel to visitors to NY!

Other than the fact that my room was 80Ā° and I could not couldn't make it cooler and my friends on the lower floors were freezing and could not make it warmer the hotel was terrific. It's a nice little cozy hotel in a great area of Chelsea in New York City
