No check in till 15.00. No elevator. No luggage rack in or available for room. No phone to reception. Room, with kitchenette is 'compact'. No wardrobe or shelves for clothing. Bathroom is tiny, one short rail carries all the towels. Nowhere to hang them to dry. Hook on back of door broken. No shelf for personal items, no shaving/makeup mirror. Shower only, nowhere to place gel/shampoo. Basket broken/missing. No quiet. Although triple glazed the sirens hooting on First Avenue are alarm... Read more

A confortable room at a reasonable price in NYC is not easy to find. The East Village Hotel, located in one of the most "european" places of the city, offers the confort of a small but beautiful room in one area full of good restaurants, mini markets, and nice shops. The small and well equipped kitchen is inside the bedroom and there is not much room to eat, but it was ok for us. Union Square and the underground are very close and staff is very kind. There's no elevator, so, be prepared to carry... Read more

I booked this hotel because it was close to a meeting I had to attend in New York and was only going to be there one night. Unfortunately, I became ill and was not able to travel. I booked the hotel through my companies online travel booking company. It did state clearly that you would have to cancel your reservation 3 DAYS before your arrival to get a refund, otherwise they charge you 100% of your stay. First of all, that is just insane, I travel a ton and have never seen that kind of a cancell... Read more

Walking distance to shows at Irving Plaza. Comfortable beds, the air isn't dry, the decor is hip, every room has a little kitchenette. Iron and board, too. Small room but modern. No keys- all codes. No front desk or staff at all after hours. We're pretty low maintenance and just like a clean bed to sleep in after a night out so this is our go-to NYC hotel. Great shopping and restaurants nearby obviously. Union square, 1st avenue, st. Marks place, Bowery, East village is great. Love this hotel. $... Read more

Just spent part of my weekend here and absolutely loved this hotel. I wasn't familiar with it at all but tried it anyway. The location is beyond amazing, smack in the middle of lively East Village. Facility itself was super clean, modern, comfortable, pretty room. Eager to stay again!

Good points: location, kitchen, house keeping. Bad points: no where to sit and eat, which completely made the option of self catering a nonsense. There is a breakfast bar of sorts but the chairs provided were for a dining height table and were really filthy. The lady at check in was uninterested and almost rude. We were on the 2nd Floor and we're not at all disturbed by noise from the cafe below. However, the fridge in our room was extremely loud and did disturb our sleep! Overall, accommodat... Read more

Location - Great Room - Enough. Small, but has everything you need. Clean. The Bean - Cool place. Can definitely see how some people find it noisy. Ear plugs in the room for a reason. If you like quiet don't stay in the 2nd floor. Bed - Worst part of my stay. Could literally feel the springs with every move. All of them.

We booked the East Village Hotel for a week in September to explore NYC. Before leaving for the USA we had read some mixed reviews, and were a little concerned about what we would find. On our arrival we realised there was NOTHING to worry about, and the EVH was going to be the perfect place to stay for our trip. We were in Room 18 on the top floor. Yes, there are 4 floors to climb and no lift, but this was only a little hard work when were taking the cases up to our room. The room was bright, ... Read more
