We stayed here overnight after flying in from Australia. Situated near to JFK the hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from the airport. The rooms are quite basic, but are clean, tidy and free WiFi is available. Breakfast is included and is of a reasonable standard with a good variety of choices. Staff are very polite and helpful. Overall a good, convenient choice for an overnight stay close to JFK airport.

My room was in the basement, just next to the utility closet, cafeteria, staff kitchen and office. There were rooms that were separated by a door from the main "action" but mine was not. It was Room 118. My room (and I imagine all of these below-grade rooms) had a basement window with a bright light shining in. Noises outside were very loud inside the room. I didn't sleep a wink, though the bed was comfortable. The phone did not work in the room so I could not request a wake-up call. Also, while... Read more

I stayed here Easter 2016 which was in March. I was staying for a lay over as I was flying to Jamaica the next day. The staff were very friendly, the first person I met was the shuttle bus driver. I cannot fault their helpfulness. My room was in the basement, but for me it ticked all the boxes - clean, plenty of towels, a good, powerful shower and a comfortable bed. I experienced no noise either. Being British, I could not get the air con to turn off or push out warmer air as for me the room wa... Read more

Pros Good location, close to airport with free shuttle bus. Staff helpful and friendly overall. Room clean Cons No hot water. Tap leaked around base when running with any sort of pressure. Shower didn't work which was good as the water was cold! In room phone didn't work so no alarm or unable to call reception. Walls paper thin.

Very standard Holiday Inn Express, everything you would expect the rooms to be like, clean, updated, electric outlets by the nightstands, flat screen tv, breakfast, ect. The fitness room was nice to have, though I couldn't get the single treadmill to go faster than 5.8 mph. This would be a great place for a single night before flying out or after flying in from a long international flight. Unfortunately, I was staying in town for business for the week and had a rental car. The hotel shares the p... Read more

We stayed 1 night at this hotel. While an older property, the room was clean and quite. Note that there is no restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, so we used Uber to go out to dinner. The only issue we had was the battery in the remote went out and it took an hour to get it replaced.

The positives first - its close to the airport with a shuttle bus. The staff were friendly and efficient. The best was big and comfortable. However..... Our floor's corridor carpet was filthy and stank. I mean it really smelt badly. Like it had never been cleaned. The fire exits were proped open, unsure if this was to alleviate the smell or otherwise (it didnt seem to help), but it did not help us feel safe in our room. The insecure feeling was not helped by a lot of activity in the surround... Read more

Transiting through JFK brought me here. Unlike the last Holiday Inn I stayed, the reception was quite warm and gracious. Just about 10 minutes drive to the airport made this the right choice for me. You can order food from nearby restaurants and they will deliver. Nice, neat and friendly but basic. Not a bad stay for one night for me.

We stayed here overnight before heading to SE Asia. The staff was very kind and checked us in right away. The hotel is somewhat odd in layout but I guess they build up in NY. Our room was on the 5th floor. The bed was quite comfortable and the shower was good and hot! The hotel was also convenient to long term parking. After traveling through Asia for 2.5 weeks, the Holiday Inn Express was a comforting last stop before the final leg of my trip home. Such an easy place to "land" after a long flight into JFK. The property itself is adequate without any outstanding features, but the service and attitude of staff -- particularly at reception -- is exemplary. The breakfast is basic but satisfactory. After being swayed by the lowest overnight prices, in an area that is overpriced as far as I am concerned. The JFK hotels really are out of line. But if you want to avoid going into Manhatten or avoid the added taxi, bus , or train expense, not to mention the time to get to or from between flights, It's the lesser of the evils. I stayed here for about 8 hours before catching a connecting flight to South Africa. The free shuttle service is very convenient, and the hotel was quiet, which was just what I needed for a few hours of sleep before my upcoming long flight. The room wasn't very large, but it was more than enough for a single traveller just looking for somewhere to sleep. Breakfast was a bit skimpy, but it did the job. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was not large but was fine for one night. The breakfast, which was included, was ok but the turkey bacon was hared and inedible and the turkey sausage was a little strange. Shuttle service comes only every hour, and at night probably not at all terminals. We waited to finally grab a cab, which is not easy to do as too short distance. Room is fine, service at front desk was ok, but noise from traffic is impossible. If they have rooms at the back , then perhaps that would be better. Breakfast is a big zero for French people, expecting even the basics. I would rather pay for it than have such a poor food quality.

Stayed here on layover to a trip to Europe. A suggestion to travelers from the west coast. Spending the night in New York or similar location is much easier on your body than traveling all the way from a West coast city. Anyway, Holiday Inn is a very clean, friendly, convenient stay if you are just spending over night to make a plane connection. The rooms are small, but very comfortable. Will be spending the night here on our way home.

The location is in an area where other similar hotels are also situated. The lobby is very small and strangely, you walk down stairs (or take an elevator) then take another set of elevators to go to your floor. Weird. The room is on the smaller side, thus so is the bathroom. The toilet has an elongated (I hate round toilets) bowl. Shower had strong pressure and adequately supplied. The carpet seemed clean, but walking barefooted gave me second thoughts. There's a Keurig coffee maker which... Read more

Stayed here for the first time in 2010, and was quite happy with my room. Was very clean, and though the amenities were not of high quality, they were still sufficient. Breakfast was like any other Holiday Inn Express. I found that the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even gave me a list of restaurants that were nearby and delivered to the hotel. Room was quiet and my sleep was undisturbed.

Easy check in. Hotel staff excellent. Steve at the front desk was ultra helpful. Room very clean and bathroom was spotless. Bkfst was decent, eating area is small and very noisy. Staff kept the buffet counter continually stocked. There were healthy food choices to enjoy. Our 5th floor room faced the highway and some road noise did filter inside.for a quieter stay choose a south facing room. Our room was opposite the elevator and we did hear people in the hallway. There is no charge for parking a... Read more

I am a frequent user of the IHG Group hotels and a member of their Reward Club. Took an overnight break en-route from Asia to Los Angeles. No hot water. Front desk excuse: 'When many people bathe the hot water runs out!' The door was wafer thin so the noise of umpteen people checking in and out and shouting in the corridor kept me awake all night. Above all, the hotel failed to release my $50 deposit taken at time of check in. 10 emails were ignored till by default I got it back ONE month later!... Read more
