"My travel partner and I both agree it is a nice enough hotel but the location/proximity to Manhattan is perhaps a bit further than it looks/made out to be on maps etc.

For some unknown reason, our particular room did NOT have Manhattan skyline views so be very careful about selecting this option...

We paid for a room rate that included breakfast. Instead, what we got was a voucher for breakfast a few blocks away (not convenient at all at 7am!) and no refund or anything like that for the brekky no-show (so to speak...again, disappointing).

The bus shuttle to Times Square each morning (approx 9:30am - however word of warning, you really need to be ready by 9ish) is an excellent idea.

Staff were EXCELLENT and helped us out regardless of time of day/night.

By far and away some of the BEST bedding I have had at any hotel - ever!

Heating facility worked well.

TV options a lot more limited then perhaps advertised/anticipated.

Internet was slow.

Toilet blocked twice and shower was barely functioning which made the unexpected cold snap in NYC just that little bit more unbareable as you couldn't really come back to a decent hot shower.

There is a kitchen but there is nothing to cook and serve with (i.e. no utensils, plates, cookware etc) - bit pointless really...

I would recommend this hotel if you can put up with the lack of cooking/shower facilities however in hindsight, if you want access to Manhattan then pay the extra dollars per night and avoid the stuffaround on subway systems to Brooklyn as it will work out better in the long run.

"The Pointe Plaza Hotel is a terrible location to commute back & forth to the city, awful! It's 10 blks from any train station, and very little taxi traffic. People thinks it's safe, but not 2 blocks south. People pushin baby carriages everywhere, but public housing is close by. And go south of Flushing, not where a girl should be walking alone. The Hotel itself was pleasant enough, but doesn't makeup for getting stuck in my reservation. Pointe Plaza would not release my funds to another hotel, said room was non refundable. Greed! The staff was very kind, though I had problems with my nonrefundable room. The bolt lock was not installed correctly, so I couldn't lock the bolt all of the way. Not good for a female traveler. Then the faucet was not properly attached in the bath, so I couldn't even take a shower the first nite. the tub is very deep, and I longed for a hot bath, but could not indulge without a faucet. My room was like a suite, with a full kitchen, clean, but the bedroom was around the corner form the front area, also very scary for a female traveler. PP relocated me to a another room, this one had a TV, and one room, more safe. The business center needs to fix some major problems, it took me over 30 min to print my boarding pass. The staff was fab, but I will NEVER stay there again"

When you use the couch, ask for fitted sheet and flat sheet,nWhen you ask for towels be sure to ask very specifically for what you want.nIt is descried as being two blocks from the metro it was 6 blocks. "The hotel was clean and the staff were efficient. I did however didn't realize how far off from Manhattan we were going to be. We arrived on Friday and stayed thru Monday. We were unaware that we had 2 double beds, all the room apparently have 2 double beds. I went with my wife and we did not plan on sleeping separately, as if we were 10 years old. Definitely, not going to stay there again."

"This hotel turned us away at check-in although we had a prepaid Groupon voucher. This, they said, was because Groupon was behind on its payment to the hotel for the promotion. Never stay in a hotel that would use a guest in this way. HUGE inconvenience and terrible business practice. Multiple attempts at contacting management have thus far produced no response."
