"If you arrive from EWR and take the train to Penn Station, take the A-C-F-R to Jay St Metro Tech station. Jay street turns into Smith St. when you leave the Metro.The Hotel isn't very far and it's a great stop for getting to Manhatten. Make sure you get a Subway Map at Penn Station. Great breakfast deal to start the day. Mid week is best."

"This hotel is just okay. I would have preferred to stay at a chain.

We liked:

1. The front desk staff.
2. The cleanliness of the room.
3. The counter space in the bathroom.
4. We liked the toiletries in the bathroom.

We disliked/were neutral on the following:

1. The only closet is in the bathroom.
2. The light switch for the lamp nearest the desk is across the room from the lamp.
3. The room service menu is just a tapas menu. There are as many drinks on the menu as on the tapas menu. The drinks are $12 each and tapas are $9 each.
4. The free continental breakfast consists of bagels (very good), hard boiled eggs, bread, coffee, tea, apple juice, orange juice, and...Activia yogurt. The breakfast is heavy on beverages and light on food.
5. The shower head is perpendicular to the high ceiling. The shower knob is at the other end of the shower. In order to turn on the water for the shower, you will have to turn the knob as fast as you can, try to avoid the cold water that will come shooting down , but you will not be fast enough to avoid it. Some really cold water will hit your body. You will then have to wait outside the shower until the water heats up.
6. The sink is like most hotel sinks. You will get water everywhere.

The hotel was also undergoing renovations when we were there. It's not finished.

The hotel is stylish, but misses many of the practical staples of a hotel. Had I paid full price, I would have been angry.

"Loved the Nu Hotel..the location is excellent..great neighborhood, conveniently located with parking garage next door which was very reasonable with a friendly staff as well...lots to see and do..many great shops and restaurants..the hotel is hip, the staff is very friendly..we especially liked the person at the front desk.always a nice smile and very helpful. It has a very homey feeling, the rooms are cool, the beds very comfy and the shower is great..we will definitely return and recommend to our friends."

"i really enjoyed staying at the NU hotel. the staff were super helpful and friendly. you can't say that about every staff because some really are not that friendly and have a stick up their asses. the rooms were clean and the service was great. in a good neighborhood with a handful of places you can walk to, this was a great choice for me. i stayed for 4 nights here and couldn't complain. free breakfast, too. and not just apple jacks and milk. i really dug the adorable guy at the front with glasses and dark hair. he was super friendly and was on top of it."
