Have been staying at this hotel since the 80's, Unfortunately, it's really gone downhill since Best Western sold it to America' Best Value chain. The rooms themselves are clean and fairly quiet when you stay on the courtyard side. But the pool/hot tub and the room they're contained in is in desperate need of renovation/paint thought the foliage in said room is healthy. The continental breakfast is sadly lacking as well. The Wifi in the rooms is terrible as well. This could be a really nice prope... Read more

We came here last year for our honeymoon. So we wanted to stay this year for our 1 year anniversary. We stayed in the same room with some nice updates. The pool and spa are great. Nice and clean. Our room was across from the pool. You can't go wrong for the price. Well worth staying here.

Stayed at this establishment in the past and has yet to disappoint me. The face of establishment is questionable however the court yard and grounds are very well kept. The rooms are clean. The best part of this establishment is the hot and swimming pool. Oh yes and the price of stay is very reasonable for the person who doesn't want to spend a lot for one night or so. The owners were so courteous from check in to check out. I thought I found a shinny penny when I stumbled upon this fine establis... Read more

Divya at the front desk was extremely helpful. The enclosed pool and spa with the plants surrounding reminded me of Hilo! The rooms were clean and very quiet. All-in-all a great reasonably priced motel!!! I'll be back!!

A graciously sized room with bed facing the quiet courtyard welcomed us back. The bed was large and comfortable and the breakfast adequate (could use some protein). The vigas and high ceilings combined with large room aize make this a restful stop.

We were stopping in Santa Fe just for one night and found the Lamplighter on Tripadvisor. The rooms are not too small, and have a nice southwest feeling. The furniture is nice though a little big for the room size so it looks over crowded. The best feature was the bathroom, nicely designed and it had a shower that was actually high enough to get under. The complementary breakfast was simple, waffles, biscuits and gravy, cereal, muffins, fruit, juice, coffee and tea. The breakfast room was one... Read more

This hotel is pretty nice. The rooms are big, the bathroom is older but clean and nice the sink is separate from the toilet and shower. There is a small refrigerator in the room and a small coffee maker. It is quiet and you can walk the neighborhood. A Smith's grocery store is across the street. Plus lots of shopping nearby. There is a swimming pool which is chilly, for swimming. The breakfast is not very good just the basics cereal and waffles and coffee. The doors to the rooms are very hard to... Read more

This place is a family favorite when stopping in Santa Fe. Clean and comfortable at a reasonable price. Not going to day it's perfect...You could nitpick small details...things that could use a touch up. All in all though, a nice stay. Good breakfast too

The staff was friendly, the room was clean. The place is nostalgic - great when traveling Route 66! Had a good WiFi signal. The only real drawback was the road in front is undergoing construction, but hopefully will be done soon.

Last night of our road trip we booked here online. I wasn't thrilled with the price considering the doors are outside. The bathroom ceiling is covered with black mold. There was a dark hair in the tub. When I pulled the top comforter off of the bed there was a hair on the top blanket, when I pulled that one back there was a hair on the sheets. Three random hairs on one bed!! Gross. The decor is out of date. It was a bit of a problem finding this place late at night because of all of the road con... Read more

If money is an issue, this is a nice place to rest your weary head from travel in the heat of summer. Friendly reception. Clean large rooms simply decorated. Excellent AC and flat screen TV on Dish I think. Breakfast was skimpy and in a hot room--we went somewhere else. The bathroom linens were not the white fluffy ones, but they were fresh and wiped off the drips.

We had a very comfortable stay here and it was reasonably priced. The rooms were clean, but a bit outdated and some of the lights didn't work. We also found the bath towels a bit smaller than usual, but okay. There is a good pool, even though we didn't use it. The breakfast is a typical American continental with waffles, bagels, toast and coffee. Town is about 5 miles away, but there are restaurants, departmental stores and pharmacies within walking distance.

We booked somewhere else the first night and it was a terrible experience! Pleasantly surprised to find such a decent place at a reasonable rate! Very clean, nice rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Great budget lodging. Rooms are clean. Staff is friendly. The pool/hot tub in the atrium is great, although a bit cool in the winter. Breakfast is simple but good. Walking distance to great food (India House, Jambo Cafe, Jalapenos). They have a ping-pong table. Favorite budget hotel in Santa Fe.

I was very grateful to this family owned business for getting me out of Motel 6. I spent about 2 days just crying because I had booked such a horrible place (prostitution and drugs ). Lamplighter had 1 king size bed for us!!! So happy and relieved. Beautiful plants all over. Nice little pool with greenhouse and landscaping. Unique. Good value. Only thing I don't like and this is the ONLY thing I found wrong...breakfast is 6 to 9. You are locked out at 9 (literally). The food isn't very good, jus... Read more

We have been staying for weeklong visits at this lovely, family friendly & family owned motel for a number of years. Every year we are delighted and surprised at the upgrades and improvements the owners have done during year. It not only is a great place to stay, but lovely with flowers and lovely plantings all around. Most employees have worked here many years, one as long as 30! Doesn't that say something to you about the quality of the management and work conditions for them? It's like ... Read more

We had no reservations in Santa Fe but wanted to stay on ROUTE 66. We could not have picked a better motel for the price and last minute. Staff were excellent. Rooms very clean. Average comp breakfast. Great pool and atrium. I was shocked at how reasonable this motel was for all you get. Walking distance to Jambo Cafe, a Sante Fe icon. Definitely stay here again.

I booked this place because I believed the lying reviews. The pics are make this place look like a resort and yet its worse than motel 6 except for the bed and the staff. The hot tub was so filthy it made me nauseous and went swimming elsewhere. On the last night the AC crapped out and when I called the front desk the person who answered was very rude which later I found out is the "owner". Maintenance came and fixed the problem, very courteous and professional. Curtains were skid row and the ... Read more

Although old, this hotel was very clean. The room was large and there was a small fridge, coffee pot, and microwave. You can easily walk to the bus stops (about 10 minutes) to go downtown. Staff was personable and happy. They offer breakfast from 6-9am, but we preferred eating elsewhere. We would stay here again.

We paid $99 per night for this motel and that included free breakfast. This isn't a luxury motel but I'm giving it 5 stars for the value. The hotel is older which is obvious from the pepto bismol colored pink tile in the bathroom but it is very clean and housekeeping did a great job making beds and refreshing towels every day.. Our room was 113. It faced the back courtyard. We heard no street noise. If you stay, I recommend asking for a room that faces the back. Our room had a microwave ... Read more

Found this hotel, more budget priced but good value for Santa Fe and 3 miles from Plaza. Free breakfast, waffle machine and the other continental breakfast items. Clean rooms, remember this hotel was built back in 70's or 80's but they try to keep things clean. Pool area pretty nice. We stayed in back row of hotel, separate building, wanted to be away from pool. Lots of kids but evening was quiet for a dip in the hot tub. Grocery store across the street. This is an older, ranch-style, drive up to your door type building but very clean! Could use some updates. Our room was large with lots of lights but outlets are scarce. The air conditioner worked well but was loud. Water in the shower is hot with average pressure. There is a separate pool & hot tub building but we didn't use it; however, other guests did. Our room included a microwave, mini frig, hair dryer, large flat screen TV, free WIFI, iron & board. The location is great as it's only 3 mil... Read more

Good hotel, easy check-in. Clean & tidy, fair predictable breakfast included. Only issue is it's not a particularly good location in terms of getting downtown Santa Fe. This Hotel is just that bit too far from anything otherwise it's fine. You get what you pay for.

My room on the second floor felt very large due to the vaulted ceiling and the bed was comfy. I was really happy that they served soymilk at breakfast and employees did an excellent job of keeping the food items stocked and the breakfast area clean. If you go to the Plaza on a weekday, get there well before lunch time and park at the visitor center for free and avoid hassle.

This is the first time I've ever felt the need to put a review on trip advisor. When I arrived at the hotel I had some very good customer service from the gentlemen behind the desk, that is purely the only reason I am giving this place 1 star, otherwise, I would write 0 stars as the title. I was assigned my room, went upstairs there were cigarette butts all over the floor of the halls, and a dirty nappy stashed in the fire extinguisher holder. I also noticed some unsavoury characters hanging a... Read more

This is an older motel. The front desk staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, and the hotel was quiet, but there were not any other highlights. Someplace else, it would have been overpriced for outdoor access, modest updates, and minimal amenities, but in Santa Fe during Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta weekend, the price was relatively fair. Breakfast lacked protein choices, other than hard-boiled eggs. There was someone's leftover salad left behind in my mini fridge, no Kleenex tissues i... Read more

We needed a room because of a late flight and this worked out great. We had a little difficulty understanding manager when booking but it turned out okay. Room was average but comfortable. We were especially pleased with the great breakfasts we enjoyed which made it worth the price. We were sorry we did not have time to enjoy pool and hot tube they looked enticing. I would recommend it only a short drive to old historic Santa Fe.

Friendly front office staff and owners... centrally located...but with road construction on Cerrillos...makes it a bit inconvenient getting to it from the other side of the street...older property... reasonable well maintained..but could use a facelift and touch up of sorts...could use better housekeeping service... and though the owners did not have any control over it ...had some rowdy and noisy drunken guests that woke up the hotel guests at 1am in the morning...

A group of us stayed during the Balloon Fiesta when our hotel in Albuquerque fell through. The rooms we got were double queen. The rooms could have used a makeover and my bed kind of sunk in when I layed in the middle. You could easily hear the people upstairs, the ceilings creaked. There were nails sticking out of the carpet where it met at the bathroom. I think they could have done some repairs on that.
