We came in for a softball tournament on a Monday afternoon and stayed through Saturday. Unfortunately, they somehow chopped our reservation into 2 pieces and didn't figure out we were staying continuously. I should have known something was up when I was unable to log into the free wi-fi. However, it never would have dawned on me what had actually occured. The maid had serviced the room while I was there, so you would think that they would know the room was still occupied - by US. However, that night we received a 1:30 a.m. call on the cell phone (yes, we were sleeping) from the desk asking if we planned to use our reservation for the night. Understandably confused, my husband told him we were using it. The desk told him we had not checked in yet. We explained we had checked in earlier this week and were in room 305. At which time we were told that room 305 is unoccupied. We corrected them and said, yes it was - by US!! At this point, the clerk threw in the towel and said we would straighten it out in the morning. Come to find out, they were booked and wanted to have us release our guaranteed reservation to let another party use the room. Very much like a 3 Stooges routine. There was further confusion about when we were checking out (2 different stories from different desk clerks), but it all workedo out fine. Just an unncessary disruption to our sleep.
The other issue - also quite minor - was a shower curtain that really served no purpose. While not apparent, it seems someone must have hung too much weight on the shower curtain rack and pulled it apart from the wall - not enough to break it, but enough that it won't stay spread out. Instead, it sags and bunches up in the middle, exposing both ends of the shower tub and creating flood-like conditions with every shower. At first, I tried to hold the curtain with one hand and shower/clean with the other, but after a couple showers, I gave up and let the floor flood.
On the postive side - excellent work out faciility with 2 treadmills, eliptical, recumbant, and free weights / medicine weighted balls. They had a nice big TV, but no CC. Same with the rooms. I like to turn the CC feature on when watching TV to not disturb my husband and keep the volume low - and I couldn't hear the TV over the sound of the treadmill. However, given the extreme heat, I was happy to be able to work out indoors.
The breakfast was above average for that cost bracket hotel. They had the mandatory waffle machine, fresh fruit (apples, oranges and sometimes bananas), also canned cut up fruit (like glorified fruit cocktail), cereal, bagels, muffins, juices, coffee bar, outmeal, fixings for oatmeal/waffle, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, biscuits n gravy, and 2 different set of hot entrees which were offered every other day.
The had coffee bar and fruit available all day in the lobby. AND around 3 pm they brought out a freshly baked tray of chocolate chip cookies!!
The room itself was fine. Clean linens, good TV and remote. Fridge, microwave, and plenty of outlets. Wifi was pretty good. Location was pretty good - Applebees and Cracker Barrel adjacent and Burger King and Wawa (not quite open, still under construction) across the street. The hotel is literally off the exit and right NEXT to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. That can be good or bad depending on where you're going as it's $4 a pop every time you cross the bridge ($4 gets you a back and forth - only pay one way). Also, there is a grocery store and other stores one mile away.
After staying a few nights in 2 crappy hotels, this was truly luxurious and a welcome sight! We would definitely stay here again.
