We stayed at the Marriott hotel which was right next door to Hotel Indigo. The restaurant was referred to us by the front desk person when we asked for suggestions. The food was very good. I had the crusted salmon over peppers and mash potatoes. It was excellent. My husband had an enormous bleu burger with pastrami which was definitely worth the price and was reasonable. It was around 4:00 so were able to have a late lunch before going to a concert at the Prudential Center. The rest of my family ... Read more

Stayed overnight prior to my daughter's graduation ceremony held at the Prudential Center. The venue was literally around the block from the hotel and took only minutes to walk. I arrived late evening and whether or not you are familiar with Newark, I was very pleased that valet parking was offered.Well worth the $21 per night fee, especially considering prepaid reserved parking for the event was averaging $30 and sold out. Check-in was quick and pleasant. Being an IHG rewards member, I receive... Read more

The room was nicest of the many hotels that I have stayed in, within Northern New Jersey. My party was there during peak time we but found the staff courteous and helpful. The restaurant offered a creative selection with vegetarian and standard fare. My one minor issue was with the delay in car retrieval from the valet parking, but upon alerting the staff to the problem, the general manager immediately intervened. Overall, a good choice for any stay in Newark. I gave three stars for location ... Read more

Steer clear. Poorly trained front desk and valet staff - whole valet system is very inefficient. Bathroom had funny odor and wished we had flip flops for the floor. Not a safe neighborhood - lots of sirens, loud music and run down with litter everywhere. The view of Manhattan from the rooftop bar is nice and a few of the old bank renovations but don't stay overnight.

When concerts/events go to the Prudential Center, Hotel Indigo is my first pick since it's the closest to the venue. A second bonus: under a 10 minute walk from Newark Penn Station wherebuses/Path/Amtrak are located. The rooftop bar views are the best and there are also dining options available downstairs. The fitness area exceeds my expectations for a hotel workout room. There are multiple cardio machines, weights, and they have tv screens. They also have flat screens on the wall so you don't ... I have stayed here several times before. This hotel is very consistent for its pleasant, helpful and attentive staff. On this trip, I was taking 2 Customers to my HQ for business meetings. My travel department arranged their travel plans. When we arrived at the reception desk, they were greeted as long lost friends and a part of our family. I recognized this consistent welcome, however my customers were highly impressed. The rooms were very nice, food good and valet parking efficient. WiFi is f... Read more

The staff at this hotel makes the stay memorable. From the front desk representatives to the restaurant servers, from the valet to the shuttle driver, the customer feels special from the start. The rooftop bar had a great view of Manhattan, too.

There are many, many positives about this hotel. I had a generally great stay, encountered some exceptional customer service, slept really well, love the style of the place. But there are a few glitches. I'll focus on the travel as that is what leads me to stay at the this hotel. I have been experimenting with various hotels near Newark airport, trying to find one that allows me to efficiently and cost-effectively get to and from the airport and also spend some time in Manhattan. If you find yourself in downtown Newark, I'd highly recommend the hotel Indigo.,a contemporary boutique hotel near the Prudential Center. The furnishings are contemporary but comfortable, the staff attentive without being officious. I stayed in a standard room which as nicely sized and well appointed. Can I say that I loved the bathroom! A sliding barn door separated the bathroom from the hallway. The bathroom is very european in design and the shower is to die for! Having a coffee shop sav... Upon arriving to this hotel, I was very shocked about how nice it is. The area around the hotel is very busy and "city like". The rooms are very modern and comfortable. The staff, especially the valet attendants and Clara (I hope that's her name) in the restaurant made my stay very pleasant, just by the excellent service they provided. I will re-book here for my next business trip.

From the moment we stepped in, we were greeting by professional staff who couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant. Jeff Webb was very accomadating with our early arrival and we really appreciated it. Stayed overnight at indigo. While it was completely remodeled recently, our room lacked a certain polish to make it a fine hotel. There was paint all over the floor and it was dirty. The toilet was dirty.and that is,a real turnoff. The bed was comfortable and the pillows like rocks. I think with a little fine tuning this Beautiful old bank building could be a first class organization. The service personnel were slow to react to everything. It really needs some attention. Although the rooftop bar views of the NYC skyline are fantastic, the service at the rooftop bar leaves much to be desired. I went there as part of a business celebration and tables were reserved in advance,. However, they had a jazz event and we were basically relegated to one table and asked to leave when other patrons arrived. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. I will never go back and will advise others to boycott this establishment.

Visited Skylab rooftop lounge in July 2016 with colleagues for drinks after work. Had reservation for our group. Ordered drinks at the bar and some appetizers Wings were delicious. So were the flatbreads and quesadillas. There was a DJ playing music and the place got pretty crowded pretty quickly. We really liked Hotel Indigo which is pretty new (rehab), hip and clean. We had breakfast and lunch in the first floor restaurant and found the food good, interesting and not overly expensive. If you're going to a show/game at The Rock then this is a great location as you're a 2min walk away. The neighborhood is challenging but I try to (safely) get to know the area and the people.

Let me start by saying that the surrounding area no so great but the hotel is literally in the backyard of the Prudential Center. Plus it is so close to the subway into NYC. This hotel is a hidden gem. We had a wonderful experience here. The staff was great, especially our bartender and the restaurant manager. They made us feel like we were home. Rooms were so nice!! This hotel was converted from an old bank and the finishing touches all over were impeccable. Would definitely stay again.

I don't think of myself as particularly high maintenance when it comes to hotels. This hotel, however, had way too many red flags to not share because I think that the pictures on-line make it look like a nice place. The room I checked into at around 4:00 pm still had a breakfast tray sitting outside the door. Upon entering the floor was very sticky and when I moved the area rug over the sticky area, I found that there was a dried red substance under the floor where the rug was...blood? wine... Read more

Tried for 45 minutes to get a hold of someone to arrange the ride, but no one answered the phone. Gave up and took a taxi. The woman at the desk was busy and lovely. The room is modern and has a great lofty feel. The party on the roof deck was hopping and everyone looked they were having a great time. We just felt out of place as the only white couple.

This hotel is, from what I could tell, centrally located in Newark, and a short walk from the main train station. It's also fairly close to the airport. The area isn't the smartest and I felt a little apprehensive heading out for dinner. Next door is a church which gives a certain elegance to the local, but also provides hourly chimes which might disturb those who are light sleepers and given a room on that side of the building. As others have noted, the immediate surroundings are rough looking, but I was attending a conference at Rutgers and felt safe walking the 3/4 of a mile there - at least during daylight. The hotel staff has been helpful, the room is clean and well-appointed. The building is a renovated old bank with lots of marble and high ceilings.
