Hotel was booked through my company travel system. Great location next to train station to get to New York Room is a bit small but OK and clean. Check in and out was fast. Rooms can be noisy if facing the station because there will be honking of cars as people picked up passengers or family from the station so be aware of that if you get a room facing the station. But great service is the free shuttle to and from Newark Liberty International Airport

Stayed here because we were getting on a cruise out of Liberty Harbor/Bayonne. If arriving on the Acela, as we did, you will get off at the New Jersey Penn Station and the walkway is right there leading you directly to the lobby. The people behind the desk are welcoming. I am sure we asked the same questions as everyone else and yet they were friendly and quick to answer our transportation questions. We arrived earlier than we thought and we were pleased that our room was ready for us. This al... Read more

Walk out into the WTC transit center. Take pictures. Outside also. Go anywhere in the city. Return/repeat. Hilton quality+ price/logistics/convenience, Finest kind! Check out the Metro Cafe... The location is great for access to NYC and N.J. rail lines. The hotel itself is Good. Reserved a queen bed, received a room with 2 doubles. Service at the restaurant was abysmal. Would probably stay here again but mostly because of the location. Otherwise, nothing special.

It was disappointing to learn that concierge services were greatly diminished during our weekend stay. We should have been advised of this policy when we paid for our upgrade. We chose this Hilton due to its proximity to the Newark Penn station. This was a great choice and made our travel to NYC a breeze.

I stayed here for 3 nights in June and the hotel is in a good location, very close to Newark Penn station. The rooms are clean and comfortable however the choice of dining option is very limited. The hotel is quiet and while a bit old on the interiors, its worth the money. The room service menu is extremely expensive, so better not to order anything from here.

I have stayed here in the past and have not been happy. I have now stayed here twice and have to say how much has changed for the better! The staff are now great and helpful and the rooms have been redone with plenty of electric outlets. It is expensive but worth the convenience. You are across the street from the Amtrak station - but also a few great close-by restaurants too.

This Hilton property is fairly well-maintained, but not really up to the standards I would expect if this chain. My room was very clean but had loose floor tile molding and no drinking cup in the bathroom. My room on the 5th floor was very noisy from street noise, but this is not really something the hotel could address. I had a morning meeting in downtown Newark and decided to travel to Newark by train the night before the meeting. This hotel is literally right across the street from the station - which is probably a good thing because I have been advised by friends in the area that the part of town is not necessarily the safest at night. Ok where do I start. This hotel was in a great location since we were going to a comedy show at the NJPAC. It was an easy 7minute walk. Our room 930 was nice but we had some kind of plumbing issue going on. Water would rise from the sink drain and not go down. Andria from the front desk was awesome. She quickly apologized, went to the back then came back out and gave us some points. We are Diamond status and the service recovery was great. Breakfast was good.

Nice hotel, parking and train to NYC arrangement. If you are on a tight budget, this is a great way to see NYC. We chose this Hilton for a seminar because of the proximity of the train station into the city which was an awesome convenience. -- They do close the walkway at 10:30 PM for security reasons so if you come back from the city later than that, you will have to cross the street and come in through the front of the hotel.-- Having dealt with the sales and catering staff over the phone I was already impressed with the friendliness, professionalism and the follow-up so I had preconceived notions that... I really enjoyed my stay here, and I walked everywhere. The hotel is right near Ferry Street, the center of the Ironbound district with lots of great Portuguese restaurants, and shops. It is right across the road from Penn Station, New Jersey, so if you want you can take the PATH to New York. I didn't because there was enough to see for a weekend in Newark. I visited the library on Saturday, and the Museum on Sunday, both were a nice walk from the hotel. The hotel staff are all very friend... Read more

Have stayed at this property a few times. This time I was in a room facing Market Street, which was better than previous stays facing Penn Station since there is much less noise. You'll hear the train horns from any room, but fewer police sirens from enforcement of people parking near the station. The hotel itself I found comfortable. Room was spacious and had plenty of room available in the bathroom as well. As others have said it is extremely convenient when arriving or departing by train... Read more

Checked in very early in the morning. Theresa Thomas worked with us to find a room as soon as she could. Very gracious. Bed was ultra comfortable. Restaurant had coffee, juice, pastries, cereal and fruit. Good location. Appreciated the shuttle service. Kudos to Theresa for all her assistance.

Near Newark Penn Station and Prudential Center. Friendly staff and nice, comfortable accommodations. The Executive lounge offers a nice alternative to room service. Parking is easy and affordable. Nice stay.

Very nice hotel. Only problem was the television being very difficult to change channels, volume control, sleep setting. Room was a little small, but not really a problem, only slept there. Was a little noisy, at night. Other than this the hotel was one of the better places I have stayed over the years. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have stayed here at least ten times. The hotel is convenient to downtown Newark and across the street from Penn Station. The rooms are nice. The concierge lounge is adequate but could use a make over. The most negative aspect of this hotel and has been an issue several times is the shuttle. Several times I have waited over an hour to be picked up. Every time the reason is blamed on traffic but this last time the large group that had assembled waiting for the shuttle kept seeing other hotels c... Read more

Here is why I avoid Newark. It is dirty, overcrowded and run down. Just like this hotel. For business workshops the coffee was mud. The fresh fruit wasn't fresh and the soda was warm. Serving staff was slow. How hard is it to keep utensils out to use. If you happen to walk through the lobby their is an indoor walkway with different stores. Nothing worth visiting.

We stayed for one night after our cruise it is clean, nice and easy access to NY but it is really loud at all times that's the only bad thing about it, good customer service, there is subway and donuts of you don't want to eat in the hotel and it is cheaper!

20 min by train from NY Penn Station, OR Path from downtown. Very nice, big rooms. Good security, covered walkway to train, open most of time. Used digital key and never spoke with a hotel employee, which was only a modest benefit as I almost always find Hilton staff very pleasant.

If you are planning a trip to New York City why not consider flying into Newark Liberty airport, taking a short journey using this hotel's free shuttle bus and stay in this comfortable location away from New York City itself. I have done this several times and cannot recommend it highly enough. The hotel is linked to Newark Penn train station via a covered walkway and a $10 ($5.90 if you are over age 62) round trip ticket takes you straight into the heart of New York City (approx 20 mins). I was originally looking for Jersey City hotels and they came up very pricy.. Finally decided to look at other places that are well connected. Paid $16 from EWR airport.. (although I later learnt that the hotel also provides shuttle) Overall good experience, Good comfy rooms. Plenty of fast food and shops around, especially in the walking corridors to the station. Jersey City is just around 20 mts by train !

Stopped in for a few drinks and to order dinner to go on my way home from a two day business trip. This is the only Hilton I have ever seen with out a valet outside. all of the bathrooms on the first floor are locked, I was told, because homeless people sleep in them. So much for Newark. anyway the food I ordered was just of an inferior quality and not cooked correctly. Just awful. I suggest you stay away from this Hilton, if you are looking for 'Hilton' quality.

If you have any desire to sleep in the morning, you should probably choose a different spot. Housekeeping is up and moving around 730 knocking on doors and, like everyone else mentioned, it is very loud. Also, kind of uncomfortable going outside as someone will be begging for change or whatever you've got.

15 minute train ride to Manhattan. Station across the street from the hotel. Continental breakfast not recommended. Only serves bagels, toasts and the like. Parking much cheaper than in Manhattan. Bathrooms could use better lighting and makeup mirrors although one was supplied when requested.

Nice clean hotel with parking garage attached ($23/day) and breakfast was included in our rate. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. We heard that the hotel was overbooked; it showed in their breakfast room. Very limited wait staff so we were cleaning off tables not only for ourselves but for others. I made a reservation of the presidential suite. When I arrived, tired after 6 hours flight, at 3am, they said they were giving me a discount. In fact, they were charging me the full price of the awful suite they gave me. When I complained, they told me they were oversold, even with a reservation that was made weeks ago. They could have called me. It is like selling a Mercedes and delivering a mini cooper. Look the pictures: that is what you get when you reserve the presidential suite here. If I ... Read more

The hotel was perfect for our vacation. We had planned to stay in Newark, New Jersey and catch the path train to and from New York. The Path train came right to the Hilton Penn Station Hotel. Didn't have to go anywhere to ride into New York. The king size beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spacious. Couldn't ask for a better hotel to stay at. Highly recommend this Hilton Hotel.

When deciding to visit New York we couldn't bear the price of New York hotels. As we were arriving on Amtrak the Hilton presented itself as an amazing alternative to the crazy Manhattan prices. One can walk from the train to the hotel via an overhead enclosed walkway and what's even better is one can get to Manhattan from the same station via PATH right to the new Work Trade Center transportation hub (which is quite an attraction in itself). Location of this hotel to Penn Station makes it the best place to do business from in the area. Access to via NJ Transit and PATH make Manhattan meeting easy! The real gem here is the staff. I have stayed here many times over the past 3 years and must say they team from the desk, bell staff and hospitality group make it a home away from home. Got a deal on this hotel. Its not what you would expect from a hilton its a little run down. The concourse from the hotel to penn station was nice being that it is not in a great area. The restaurant was expensive and had a very limited menu. They charged a deposit but never tell you about it found it on my credit card. The staff was friendly for the most part.

The room was okay nothing special. It was a precruise stay so there were lots of people. The breakfast in the morning was bedlam. We had to self bus our table, secure our own clean place settings, and didn't have any eggs or bacon. The absolute sparsest buffet I have ever had. We had to go to the front desk to pay our bill because we couldn't even get a check. $47 for a piece of toast and one pancake for each of two people. I would never stay here again because of the food service.

Standard Hilton city property - standard rooms spacious & comfortable, reasonably modern, quiet / shielded from traffic noise. This property is directly connected to Newark Penn Station, which is handy for the Amtrak / PATH. Hotel staff (somewhat cold/surly) told me not to walk around outside at night, apparently Newark is quite dangerous, and some of the local urchins take to hanging out in the lobby entrance, so unless you really have to be downtown, stay at the airport, it has local & inter...
