Hopefully trains don't run all night. Rooms clean and comfortable. Love the Keurigs in the room. TV is a 10 year throwback but so what. Would recommend depending of course on train results. Staff is friendly at front desk and parking good. Not to far from downtown Morristown and there are two decent restaurants although there are better ones close by.

The first fantastic positive was the front of house staff and their welcome. The amenities and room were quality and the blend of old world charm in a newish facility were so well done. A well appointed fitness area and the restaurant was first class. Dining in the old rail car was a great experience. On arrival we requested a room change and it was facilitated with no fuss. From the moment I checked in, to the moment I left, I was exceedingly happy with all of the hotel staff, room & amenities. Christine at the front desk was super friendly & helpful. Unbeknownst to me, my sister had called in a surprise 20 minutes before I arrived. Christine ran around and pulled the whole thing off with ease! The room was beautiful and very clean. Dinner (room service) was excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel & will absolutely be back again soon.

There are aspects of this property which I really like such as the old fashioned lobby and bar/restaurant, and swimming pool. The room was ok but they really need to update the rooms....get rid of outdated tv's and old furniture that is just old...not antique or very nice even. I also think they need to be conscious of people using sites like Priceline or Hotwire and not sticking them to the worst rooms. Hotels need to understand that those using these sites tend to travel a lot more than perhap... Read more

Our daughter and future son in-law found by searching on the network that the Madison Hotel in Morristown, NJ offered a complete wedding package. It was a beautiful setting for the wedding, although they lived in Brooklyn, NY it was an hour commute by subway and train whitch took them straight to the hotel. My wife and I along with our daughter and spouse rented a car in order to carry belongings to and from the wedding. On getting there we drove off highway 24W before reaching our destination s... Very nice, comfortable hotel. Continental breakfast nicely done. To fill in time between activities, I made use of the pool which was a wonderful way to relax. Hot tub could not be used as it did not have any rails to enter, but I think that was on purpose as they may feel it is too much of a hazard and were discouraging the use for safety reasons. Room was clean and comfortable and everything was perfect.

We were just passing through on our way north. My wife remembered Madison, NJ as a lovely area, having been to a wedding there many years ago. We looked on tripadvisor and the Madison Hotel jumped out. We reserved on tripadvisor at an excellent rate...not significantly more than we would pay at an ordinary motel. Our king room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. Could not have asked for more. We arrived on a Friday evening and learned that several weddings were scheduled for the we... Read more

Three colleges are neighbors, the College of Sanit Elizabeth, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Drew University. Or you may be attending one of the many weddings that take place here. We had a wonderful stay at the Madison Hotel. The staff was lovely, and the lobby and building is beautiful. Our room was large with a good king size bed, and it even had satellite TV with a lot of channels. The breakfast in the lobby looked good, although we did not have a chance to try it. Since your car is parked in the hotel's parking lot, you do not have to pay parking fees. The hotel is beautiful inside and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful stay!

It is located in a lovely area near the downtown area. The staff were very friendly and check in was a breeze. Both of our rooms were on the 3rd floor across from each other. Other reviews have discussed "days gone by" but although older, it still carries itself reasonably well, especially for the rate we received. Not intended as a Ritz but has a touch of class with helpful staff and nice restaurant, plus bar attached. Booked as last minute 1 yr anniversary with my sweetie- room was lovely, comfortable. Despite a couple of weddings happening it was a quiet night. Room service prices astronomical for less than delicious food- to be fair, we ordered around 10 pm, but a loaded baked potato came w/ literally nothing and we had to ask for condiments- a bit odd at $9. Breakfast included and was delicious and plentiful. Fresh baked croissants out of this world with Individual jars of gourmet jelly.

Both the hotel lobby and rooms are very dated. Especially when compared to hotels in the same range such as Hilton brands, Marriott hotels and the Hyatt nearby. The Madison has a feel of a boutique hotel on the outskirts of Morristown, It is located at One Convent Road in the area that was once known as Millionaires' Row. There are still many lovely homes and mansions in the area. The hotel is family owned and reflects a more gracious period when entertaining guests was paramount, The service is personalized and is apparent as soon as you are greeted at the entrance. Our room was spacious with a king size bed and equipped with microwave, refrigerator an... Read more

My daughter and I were able to stay here for a discounted rate as we were visiting my other daughter at a local university. This place is full of old style character. I loved the ambiance of the lobby! There were multiple small chairs and couches with tables with lamps; there was a sunken living room with a real fireplace going in the middle of the whole lobby; and this is where they served their continental breakfast. The breakfast, while definitely a traditional continental breakfast, off... Read more

The Madison was a pleasant surprise. No detectable from the main road, when I finally found the hotel I was surprised by an elegant lobby with abundant dark woodwork and a sunken fireplace area. The front desk staff was very friendly offering freshly baked mini-cupcakes and apples to us. The pessimist in me said, OK, they sunk money into the lobby but the rooms are probably dated and threadbare. Not True! All appointments were up-to-date, fresh and high quality. The next morning we didn't ha... Read more

This hotel is like a mansion and the service and cleanliness are above reproach. They do many weddings here and still as a solo guest they made me feel like I could have been a party of fifty or more.

Beautiful hotel for a long weekend. Easy drive down the shore or a quick train ride from the parking lot into Manhattan. The staff was friendly and courteous. Little pumpkin cupcakes and coffee during the afternoon. Well appointed and large room. Very quiet. Didn't eat at the hotel restaurants but they were very busy. The train station being a walk across the parking lot was so convenient. One hour train ride to Penn Station. Nice pool though a little chilly. We would choose the Madison... Read more

Back in the day we used to make the 11-hr. trip to Maine in one day, no sweat, but now that we're of a certain age our backs and knees are not as compliant, so we're always on the lookout for a good halfway stopover that's reasonable, but not a chain. Discovered the Madison this past summer and it was a great fit, esp. their tavern, which had a great selection of craft brews and an extensive pub fare menu.

My g/f and I booked a night just for a quick getaway from NYC to hike in the swamps near by and enjoyed it so much we stayed another night. We had a nice room in a beautiful old hotel. The staff was lovely and helpful . We had a drink in the pub , danced to a pretty good band . As per bad reviews here: Yeah there were younger people who may have a few too many but hey , they were at a wedding and celebrating. Who hasn't done that.

My family and I had a wedding to go to here this past Friday night. Since we were all out of town, we decided to come in Thursday and spend thanksgiving together at the hotel. They provided a fabulous buffet dinner for the holiday. Their continental breakfast was really great too. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful....throughout the entire hotel. The pool and weight room was also very nice. Very kid friendly. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who ... Read more

I attended 2 weddings and stayed at the Madison Hotel on 2 separate occasions. Once in August 2013 and recently this past November 2016. Rooms are well appointed and immaculate. Beds are very comfortable. Food is excellent. Lobby is warm, welcoming and inviting. They serve a free breakfast of coffee/tea. fruit, rolls, pastries, yogurts and cereals in the lobby. There is a indoor pool. The Chateaubriand is fantastic. I look forward to staying there again. It's like going to visit a favorite old f... Read more
