We stayed here for 3 nights. The stay was good, but they beat you on little things all they can. In fairness, the city has gentrified and become Boston light. Busy, even in June, expensive, not worth it restaurants. I used to love this city. Anyway, the Hilton charged us $25/day for valet parking. No free coffee after 12 PM in the lobby. You could buy one. The whole experience was good but, I felt they nickel/died us.

My husband and I stayed here about six years ago. Since then they have renovated and it looks beautiful. The only negative is that the room didn't seem to have enough air conditioning to cool the room. The thermostat said 65 but it was quite warm at night. I will agree with a previous customer, for the price you would think that parking would be included.

We stayed here 8 years ago and returned. Did not disappoint. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms, clean, quiet, good service, free wifi and pool for the kids. We did not park onsite to avoid $25/night fee. We have stayed at almost every hotel in Portsmouth and this is a good one!

Clean friendly in the heart of town. Valet was great. Only bummer was no comp breakfast. Although plenty of places around to choose from. Great location knowledgable staff. Kids loved the pool and hot tub.

My friends and I had a spectacular stay at this Hiltin. The staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was beautiful! As soon as we walked into our room we were comparing it to what we see on HGTV. And you can't beat the location.

You can't beat the location of this hotel for a visit to downtown Portsmouth. Plus it's seems to almost brand new inside. Room was spacious and well appointed. The main drag is literally a block away. Stumbling distance from all the great bars and restaurants. This is definitely the only hotel option for me when I'm in this area.

The staff is phenomenal and the rooms are exceptional. Very close to Market street and all the restaurants and bars. All are within easy walking distance. Would definitely stay there next time we are in Portsmouth.

We were given the trip as a retirement/birthday weekend. There were no problems with any part of the stay. The hotel was in the middle of the City, but very quiet. It is convenient to walk to everything which is a huge benefit because there is no parking in Portsmouth. Breakfast was great, room was clean and nice thick drapes that kept security lighting and sunlight out. We woke up thinking it was still early morning because the room was so dark, and found it was 8:30.

Great beds, excellent staff, right in the heart of Portsmouth. Hilton Garden Inns can always be depended on. Picking your room ahead of time was great. They gave us early check-in which worked so well for us

We go to this hotel about once a month. They have had a consistent staff at the front desk so they have begun to remember us... or the sell the fake quiet well. We haven't tried the restaurant but the bar is nice, however, the drinks are a little light. The thing is, you can walk to dozens of great restaurants and bars. This is a great location. Well worth the stay and you don't have to get in your car once you hand it over to the valet.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was very clean and well maintained. We needed 2 beds and an accessible bathroom and this was perfect. The room was quiet and while there is no view to speak of, the hotel is right in the downtown area, You can walk everywhere from here. While there are many people in town the hotel however is quiet and peaceful. We used the valet parking rather than search for parking elsewhere and it was well worth it . our car was brought around with no delay. The staf... Read more

This is a beautiful hotel right in the best part of Portsmouth. The room was extra large and we used the indoor pool and hot tub when we took a break from walking around Portsmouth. The location is perfect, only a minute or two walk from all the downtown shopping, eating, and drinking establishments. And only a minute or two more and you are at the waterfront. You do have to pay for valet parking, $25/night. Parking in downtown is a premium.

Perfect location for strolling through downtown Portsmouth! Within minutes of shopping, restaurants and beautiful views. Just a short ride to Kittery, Maine. Rooms are big and beautifully decorated. I wouldn't consider another hotel for my next trip to Portsmouth.

Convenient walk to the main streets, harbor front and parks, the hotel is a new contemporary design. Staff was welcoming and efficient, and the room was contemporary neutral decor. There were plugs positioned throughout the room, the bathroom ventilation and lighting were perfect. We paid $25 for the valet parking - very easy in-and out. The pool is small..not for laps.

This place is one of the nicest Hilton Garden Inns that we have ever stayed in. We are Hilton Platinum members and travel a lot...so we get to see many hotel rooms. This place was well appointed and very clean. We enjoyed our stay here very much. The HGI is located within walking distance of the best that Portsmouth has to offer...great shopping and fantastic restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would recommend staying here if you want to visit Portsmouth, NH.

We stayed here for one night while traveling home from a long trip. The front desk was very helpful at check in and also when booking the reservation. The fitness area was clean and up to date and my kids enjoyed a brief swim in the pool even though it was pretty small. The room was very clean and well decorated. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel.

The hotel is overpriced as is valet parking. The front desk staff were lukewarm. The valet was quick to take a generous tip, but left us to haul our luggage to the third floor. The valet upon departure barely grunted at us as he delivered our car. The decor of the place was in no way reflective of the historic seaside city. And, I'd argue it isn't really "in the heart of historic downtown," like it claims. More on the edge. Overall, for the price, the accommodations are disappointing. We... Read more

This hotel is just perfect. Yes, it's pricey if you're there on a weekend in the summer (when prices can double), but we found it well worth it to be downtown, steps from everything in Portsmouth and to have access to nice amenities. New Hampshire's seacoast is simply beautiful and Portsmouth definitely has a charm. We were here for a family wedding and the staff was very accommodating to our needs, from a crib to adjoining rooms. The valet parking is annoying and overpriced, but you can find fr... Read more

It was alive in the fall and the lounge was happening with some of the first large screen tvs. I chose to come back for a short vacation. After a long day of driving, it was a delight to be staying at this hotel. The property is easy to get to from the highway, the front desk staff were very pleasant, and our room was impeccable. I don't need fancy, I need clean and quiet, and this hotel fit the bill. It's also within easy walking distance of downtown food and shipping. Terrific.

We stayed here a few times and have never been disappointed. The location is perfect, steps from the center of town. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms have been redone and the place is spotlessly clean. When the cable tv went out because of Time Warner, they gave everyone a free full breakfast. We will stay here again when we come to Portsmouth. We have been to many Hiltons and other motels and find this one to be excellent.

This is a pretty standard hotel, very well located right in the center of Portsmouth, near everything. Everything about it is OK, but it is just pretty standard, formulaic and charmless. And, at least in the middle of August, very expensive...$389/night, but I guess that is the market. Rooms are large and clean, the limited staff you interact with are great, and breakfast was good (as opposed to the last time I was here when it was poor and expensive). Really nice, clean hotel set in the heart of historic Portsmouth. Whatever you want is within walking distance! I'd stay here again and again! The one exception... DON'T use the sofa bed. Pull the mattress out and sleep on the floor if you must. That thing is a torture device. But I'm pretty sure all sofa beds are like that.

Spent two nights here last minute, and was able to get the last room. The best thing about the hotel is it's location. Almost everything is within easy walking distance. This hotel is very clean and updated which is nice. The room was normal other than new. I hated the very soft pillows. The water was burning hot immediately when turned on to wash my hands. The biggest complaint I have is that the tap water is disgusting. For the high price they should offer a few water bottles in the room. I couldn't even drink the tea made from the water.

Nothing over the top, but Hilton Garden Inn in Portsmouth was clean and inviting with good service and comfortable rooms.
