This place is still well below the Hard Rock standards, but not too bad of a stay for the price. (That price being in the players club) the property is improving, but the pool area is in need of some major work. The entertainment has been a big hit, usually always free and kid friendly. Just with the Hard Rock restaurant was here in the hotel, but it is just a short walk away.

So once we checked in, Jennifer in the front desk was absolutely wonderful to upgrade us since we drove all the way from Monterey and the room was spacious with balcony. Unfortuntly, we found out that the A.C is not working at all at night around 9 pm and the room was set in a hot/ heater mode. The entire hotel was warm so I suggested to open the window but couldn't bear the smell of weed/marjwana coming from god knows where! So this is a place were you can have a good night stay and relax even though it is a casino. There is not that much noise when you get to the bedrooms. Because believe me I have been to casinos were no matter the floor if feels like the casino is in your room. The rooms are clean and well decorated. It is one of the first Hotels over the state line if you are coming from California. Or it is one of the last Hotels if you are coming from Nevada. Positive: smart interior. Interesting decor. Parking staff were very friendly... Oddly enough one of the highlights.. Negative : ice machines in our tower were broke. Blinking light outside our room for the two days we were there(?). Broken lock. Hallway elevator area VERY dark. Nothing over the top bad. I just think I'd stay somewhere else I know the Daily Resort Fee is a growing trend. But I absolutely HATE IT. Everyone knows its just like a 25% add-on to get in your pocket. But I HATE it... Great deal! Tip, book day of and get a suite for the same price as a regular room. That's what we did, and had a huge room with a Jacuzzi tub, and balcony with lake view. Bed was very comfortable. Casino is small but has nice folks in it. Had breakfast at the Fire and Ice restaurant, and it was really yummy! Our waitress was very nice as well. Overall, good place to stay, even if for only 12 hours!

I was really looking forward to staying here, but it didn't meet my expectations. Firstly, parking and door staff were super friendly which was excellent. The 2nd set of doors could do with an automatic system. Check in staff were great as well, we stayed in room 1222 - 12th Floor. The bed was great, as was the view. Very impressed with that aspect. However, the smell in the bathroom was grim. The wardrobe door off its runner, the dusty mirrors and bedside table weren't impressive. The lack ... Read more

This hotel was having a 40% off when we got there. Our room was on the 14th floor and had an amazing view of the Lake, the mountains and the golf course. The front desk people were very friendly as well. BUT, the room was not that clean when we got there. It looked as though the floor had not been vacuumed for a very long time. The bathroom had a very, very small counter top that couldn't hold anything while getting ready, yet the whole wall next to it was empty, a waste of space actually. ... Read more

The Hard Rock Hotel was very nice. The beds are absolutely incredible and the rooms were decorated well. They are still doing some renovation work but it's coming along nicely. The pool is also under renovation. They do however give you a free beach pass to one of the local public beaches due to the pool being closed. We stayed at this hotel and really enjoyed it. It has had a great facelift and made it nicer than most hotels in the area (even the casino smells fresher than most). The restaurant, Fire and Ice, was good and we enjoyed the bottomless bloody Mary's. The one issue I have with this hotel is that there was a $25 per day resort fee. They don't have a pool, there is no resort - so what is the fee for. MAYBE a fee would be warranted when they have a pool and outside entertainment area, etc.

Stayed here for 2 nights during the 2nd week of August 2016 & while at the beach found out from locals that this establishment is NOT actually a Hard Rock owned property. The owners bought into the Hard Rock name, refurbished the basics & decorated w/ rock n' roll theme/props, collectibles & memorabilia. Our check-in was a bit slow and the room was fairly decent, except that it was the furthest room (Sunset Tower) from front entrance & casino area. Upon entering our room we observed that it o... Lake Tahoe is worth the visit any time of year. It is a small town with limited hotel options at a certain level and lodging is NOT cheap which is why the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino was selected. The place is like any Hard Rock...cool memorabilia and music and fun, lively atmosphere. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom needed a more complete update but functioned. My biggest annoyance was the lack of a minibar AND room service closing early. After coming back from a concert at Harvey's we were... Read more

One of my favourite hotels and restaurants. I have no complaint over it and I would never hesitate to recommend the property to any of my fellow travellers. Even though the property is slightly old and worn out, the staffs and level of service compensated for the ailing hardware. Thumbs up for me!

Booked this place on Hotels.com and what a deal, just over $100 and what a classy place! Best bed from anywhere I stayed in the US. Modern place, near the beach, 5 mins from central Lake Tahoe and close to all the town has to offer. All the memorabilia was great downstairs in the lobby area.

Check in was horrible, attitude of front desk was very poor. Got to the room and it was tiny. Supposedly a King room with a Lakeview. Well we had a lake view, but the window was tiny. Room was covered in dust like it had been sitting for weeks. Tiny bathroom also.Next morning stopped at the front desk and talked to a very nice girl, Jennifer I believe, and she immediately upgraded us to a corner balcony suite. Had to pay a bit more but was well worth it. The Hotel is not really a "Hard Rock" pro... Read more

BUT always get gaming cards at any casino we go to.Some like Hard rock will award you free nights etc. when they are slow. Some casino will do nothing for you unless you spend a bundle gambling. Well, it started with check in, long line even though they 3 or 4 check in clerks, put in Sunset tower with "limited " lake view, however there is a resort fee ( which I knew about ), but no functioning pool , and the "beach access " is not within easy walking distance, no mini-bar. the worst thing s you CANNOT adjust the room temp, it's regulated. Room temp said 73 but I doubt it was , it was stuffy and warm. Their posted "fix " is to bring up a fan. Probably won't go back.

Wanted to get away for a long weekend to relax. Had to wait in the check in line almost 45 minutes. Why do they only have one gal working on a Friday afternoon? Our room was very nice and clean. Nice view of the lake and the pool which was under construction. There goes my laying by the pool having cocktails... Wasn't told it was closed when I made the reservations. We ate dinner at the fancy steak house Friday and the service was horrible. The food was good but it took forever to get. ... Read more

I liked the location . Was walking distance to main square at Heavenly. There was some rock concert @ hotel for the night we were staying at Hard rock. Music was very loud till atleast 11pm ! There were young guest dressed up very inappropriately, walking across the hotel - mostly attending the Rock concert and was kind of awkward for we were staying there with family. Guests were smoking in the lobby! The pool was closed for renovation so they offered us a free pass to beach close by. I like ... Read more

Used hotel.com to bid on a room and this is the property was chosen. The rooms are decent size for two people, wanted a room on a higher floor because the views in Lake Tahoe are beautiful, but they couldn't accommodate because it was a sold out because of a Stevie Wonder concept at Harveys across from this property.

By the looks of the casino and lobby I thought this place would be top notch! We paid $260 for a Saturday night and I'd say not worth it!!! We got to our room and was very disappointed. They cut a lot of corners when they refurbished this hotel. New furniture and decor which is nice but carpet is gross, paint is peeling and the heat was worthless! Your paying for the name if you book here.

We were given a balcony room with a view of Lake Tahoe. Beautiful, restful to sit and enjoy the Lake. The room was large with a comfortable chair. The bathroom was small but adequate. Our only suggestion would be to have coffee pots in the room. The pool was under remodel and closed but the staff offered passes for a private beach on the Lake.

The reviews were pretty mixed on this hotel. We had a decent stay, not much to complain about. We had a room with a view of the lake which was really nice. After we checked in and went to our room we found the room had not yet been cleaned. A bit disturbing to walk in on other people's mess (and it was really messy!), but a quick call to housekeeping and when we came back from dinner the room was clean (somewhat! housecleaning could have definitely done a better job, they must have been rushed).... We were 2 couples and a small kid, we booked a double room, it was 300$/night. Firstly, no view of lake 1. No complementary water - $6 per bottle in room, heights of cheapness 2. Air conditioning wasn't working .. it was cold and we could not switch the heater/blower on coz they mentioned that these 3 months of fall , the AC works on centralized system of whole hotel. Always enjoy staying here when in South Lake Tahoe. Staff friendly and welcoming. Valet tends to be a bit slow or understaffed. Rooms are in good shape with nice views. First stay was in tower closest to front desk. Very nice! Second stay was in further tower, and it's a hike down a hallway that you don't want to walk alone late at night. Overall, great location and priced right. Walking distance to other resorts and to Heavenly Shopping.

My husband and I stayed here for one night because his friend got married at the Chapel of the Bells. The hotel is average, needs updating in the Sunset tower we stayed in, walls looked worn, which I didn't expect since it was recently renovated? New management has remodeled the old Horizon Hotel and its now the Hard Rock. They did a good job on the casino. You can tell they put all the money into it. The problem is the hotel. First, there is very poor lighting in the halls. Can't see. Very dangerous. Don't walk there alone if you're female. The rooms have new beds and furniture but they did not improve the bathrooms. The room was spacious, clean, neat, well organized and a king-sized bed, non-smoking room just as we had requested. I really wanted to like this place however, I am knocking 3 stars off because I did not get a good night's sleep. I'll explain more about that later. The good: To start off, I was pleasantly surprised upon entering the hotel floor, I liked the exterior and theme they had going on in resemblance to the Hard rock.
