"Being 20 years old and free to travel to Las Vegas is one big experience an to share. My stay at Riviera was delivering and the stay was quite affordable. I could stay at The Riviera Hotel for two nights in well- spaced, well decorated room for less than 100$. This was definitely worth it as the Casino lobby is always filled with people. The staff is really understand and super friendly. After 8 hours of arrival, after my car has been towed near the hotel, the staff security helped me through the whole situation. A great place to revisit for a spontaneous vacancy on the Strip!"

"I had stayed at the Riviera several years ago and it was a nice stay. I was there in Sept 2012 and I was so very disappointed. We book the room for 3 people and the room was very small with double beds and not queens. The elevator, hallways and rooms were very dirty and dingy. I asked for a cot as 2 bigger women could not sleep in one bed. We were told it was against the fire code. I went to the front desk to see about another room and they wanted to charge me over $400. I spoke with the manager and was told they could give us another room for all of us in another wing. They charged us $50 dollars more per night and on top of that, charged us $55 resort fees. They also charge me twice on my debit card for the resort fee. I had a go around with them about that. We paid the extra money in cash and deducted the $57 they charged my account, then when my sister checked out they told her she had to pay the $57. For what the cost ended up being we could have stayed in a much nicer and cleaner hotel. I do have to say a positive though, the second room was much nicer and cleaner than the first room."

"I stayed at this hotel before years ago and I had a great experience. When i stayed this past weekend, I was hoping for the same experience. The room was decent. But the duvets on the bed were dirty. In one of the rooms, the air conditioning was not working properly. Housekeeping was terrible!!!! Also, this hotel charges 11 per night for electricity charges on top of your room rate. This hotel is ok if you are not staying an extended period of time."

"Room was right next to flood lights that filled the room like daylight 24 hours a day.
Room had a really musty smell to it. Like there was standing water somewhere.
Water faucet in the sink's cold water handle spun 360, so the water never quite fell off.
Elevators had visible glue patterns where signs used to hang, with the actual signs on the floor of the elevators.
No signage to help direct you to parking.
We booked a 'Deluxe' room but were booked into a Classic room and not made aware of it. Due to scheduling and time of day I didn't have time to get it fixed once we got to the room. I was late to my engagement as it was.
The electric outlet behind the nightstand was actually an extension cord. The clock on the nightstand wouldn't stay plugged in because the weight of the plug was too much to keep it inserted into the socket.
Overall the 3 star rating it is given wouldn't be my assessment. With it's locale and history I expected the place to be better in terms of upkeep. Without the casino attached the amenities were barely on par with some Super 8s I have had to stay in."

"The saying you get what you pay for is absolutely correct. If you want to go cheap and stay in a closet, have long check in time, and be miserable, then stay at this hotel. This hotel is old, the rooms are small and smells really bad. Have to take the bus to get to the strip which can be a huge hassle especially at night. Second time in Vegas, stayed at the Venetian the last time (amazing hotel), I will never go cheap again and stay at this hotel, staying in the strip next time. "We stayed at the Riviera .We had stayed there once before,five years ago.We had reserved a deluxe room but ended up with a luxury room as a free upgrade.The room was plenty spacious.We had a refrigerator which we had been told one wouldn't have in their room unless it was a luxury room.We weren't even told that we got an ugrade but we knew since it had a refrigerator that we did.The bathroom was all tile and granite and had a huge counter for all of the toiletries.THE BEDS WERE SUPER COMFORTABLE AND THE CHAIR AND OTTOMON WERE ALSO.Our only wishes were that there would be two comfy chairs as we had to take turns.We both wore ear plugs all week but we could still hear the elevators going up and down all night long.If we weren't so tired from walking and touring ,we would have asked for a different room but din't have th energy to switch.If we come again we will get the room with the refrigerator away from the elevator.There was an hour long line to checkin on the Friday before Memorial day weekend but someone came around and offered us free water bottles.There was a basketball convention that weekend so we were given two free concert tickets to use at the hotel anytime before the end of the year."

"We were told we would have an early check in. When we got to the hotel, we were treated with a RUDE attitude and pushed around for HOURS. Luckily, we had planned on chillin' by the pool, but we lived out of our car until late afternoon when we could finally get into the hotel room to freshen up. After a midnight drive from AZ to NV, we really wanted to feel comfortable. The pool was nice, but we were definitely irritated with how we were treated. If you are getting into town at check in time--I don't see any issues with the hotel."

"The accommodations were adequate as was the staff. Nobody seemed to go out of their way. Everything was more expensive than I expected. I visited the Illusions show via a Groupon and it was well worth the money. I signed up for the gambling card, and was told that because I just had a birthday, they were giving me $10. Turns out that was a lie, everyone gets $10 to sign up. Aside from Bingo and the casinos, there isn't much to do during the day. Next time I go, I'll be staying on Fremont street! Much cheaper and not very far! The housekeeping staff was friendly, but sheets were only changed when asked, and there was minimal cleaning. They emptied the trash, restocked the towels, did a light dusting, and made the bed. That was the extent of the cleaning, and I was there for a week."

"Our 2 nights Deluxe room stay was OK. My comments would be: airconditioning was loud and not cold ( even if it's on hi & cool settings) compared to other hotels i've been. Bathroom door old noticeable water damage obvious. Refrigerator temp was warm; can't keep a cold drink. Room too crowded for 2 adults 3 kids even with 2 queen beds, people from other rooms leave their food tray and junks in hallway. The plus sides were: carpet was new, beds were comfortable. Toletries not enough although towels were enough for our family ( had requested earlier upon booking for this but only 1 soap and 1shampoo per day. I was also DOUBLE BOOKED or was told at check in there were 3 rooms reserved under my name. No wonder the lady was asking who's staying with whom ( I though it is the hotel who doesn't want 5 people in 1 room- it was OK upon my online booking-it accepted 5 guests). If you are not staying the whole day at the hotel, in our case we had to drive to Grand Canyon on our second day as the first night was 4pm check in and was too tired driving from L. A., this is value for your money BUT not with kids as the room is too small for a Deluxe. ANOTHER suggestion check-in time should be 1-2pm so people can still rest for a few hours and explore Vegas for the rest of the first night. Didn't enjoy Vegas but enjoyed Grand Canyon."

"On our first arrival, we checked our bags with the bell hop crew. I forgot the paperwork I needed for check-in, and when he came back, I asked him (nicely and apologetically) to go get it. He seemed really put out and mildly upset with us. Oh well, moving on. Waited in line for almost 45 minutes to check-in, not sure what the hold-up was. There seemed to be open check-in terminals. Got to the room, no complaints there. While downstairs, got approached by a staff lady, asking if we were staying there, how old we were, if we were interested in joining some special club thing. Turns out, we aren't old enough, but they were going to 'try to make it work anyway.' They also asked how much money we made. Slightly unnerving. Came back later to see what's up, they gave me the name of someone at a different hotel, to try to get their card. Still don't know what they were getting at, but no thanks. Waste of my time and disconcerting. Check-out was timely, though the lady doing the check-out couldn't figure out how to charge it out. I currently see 3 pending charges from the Riviera for the same price. See what happens there. The buffet was pretty good. All in all, for a little more money, you can get a much better hotel, in a more central location."

"Our experience was great. The only downside was check-in. We got in about 11 pm on a Thursday night and had to wait a good 30 - 45 minutes to check in. Once more staff came out the line moved quickly, but it wasn't a fun way to start our first night in Vegas. We did however get an upgrade on our room. Our room was very clean and had new carpet. Our only other issue was that the AC definitely hadn't been updated in awhile. It worked really well, but sounded like a boat motor was in the room with us! Thankfully we were exhausted at the end of each night so the sound never kept us up. The staff was all great and very helpful. The cocktail waitresses in the casino were definitely nicer than ones we encountered elsewhere. They always greeted you with a smile and weren't as surly as some other places. My favorite part of staying at this end of the strip was that it wasn't as crowded as the south end. It was nice to get away to some relative 'peace and quiet' after spending a busy day farther down the strip."

"The hotel was ok. It is a overpriced hotel. You are basically paying for the right to be on the strip. The staff was the best quality. There was one lady at registration who I thought was rude but the other staff members were so good that their goodness over shadowed the clerks rudeness. I would not recommend this hotel unless you absolutely have to stay on the strip, otherwise there are better deals a mile or two off the strip and there probably won't be any 'junk charges' i.e., resort fee, which was a rip-off. Stay away from this hotel unless thay have a sale or discount happening."

"I would never recommend anyone to stay here and I would never return!! The first room they gave us was suppose to be an 'FREE UPGRADE', oh was it free okay. It was dirty with dust all over the dresser and sheets with stains on them, and the toilet was leaking. They gave us a new room that was a little better but the next day when they cleaned our room they gave us sheets with stains on them again. It is an very old hotel and dirty."

After having an late evening 5 1/2 flight you really don't want to be standing in a check-in for over an hour. HAD A GREAT TIME. WILL RECOMMEND TO ANYONE."

"When checking in we were told that they didn't have a room for us since we checked in after midnight and we would have to stay in a suite the first night then come back to front desk before 11:00am to change rooms. I asked why we didn't have a room since we had paid for this entire trip over 2 weeks ago. The man at the front desk said we should not have gotten there so late and that they don't hold rooms. As it turned out we did not have to change rooms because the lady at the front desk later that morning said we could stay where we were. We did not unpack and settle in the first night because we thought we would have to pack up everything again to move. The room was ok, but it had a jacuzzi tub that did not work and we were unable to adjust room temperature due to thermostats needing maintenance. Everyone at the hotel, except the man at the front desk upon check in, was very nice. The cocktail waitresses were very friendly and came by very often to check on us. I would probably stay there again."

"We were not here for the hotel, but overall the hotel was fine. The breakfest buffet was great, and the bar had great drinks. The rooms were clean, but the only thing that was not good was that we were place along the elevator. So when we did sleep that all you heard. But again overall, the hotel was fine. If you want to spend money elsewhere besides a hotel i would recommend this place. Clean and cheap"

"Upon arrival at 11 pm we waited in line to check in for 45 minutes. The lady behind the desk was continually barking at everyone' HAVE YOU'RE ID'S READY!!' Once we finally got up to the counter we were told we had to pay a resort fee for our prebooked/paid room. when we asked what it was for the staff said to 'think of it as paying utilities and you have to pay the electric bill at home dont you?' On our way up to our 'recently remodeled' and supposed 'upgraded' room the carpet was not secured to the floor like there had been a flood on entire floor 15! and wrinkled all the way down the middle of the hallway. The room smelled like it hadnt been used or cleaned in forever. The beds were no bigger than twin size for my husband and I. After flushing the toilet once it ran and ran forever....who can sleep with that noise, let alone it being so close!!! We called for them to have it fixed and bring more pillows and was placed on hold for 10-15 minutes. Finally gave up and called the front desk from our personal cell and got answered almost immediately. They were confused as to why we calling from our own phone. After asking what the supposed upgrade was, front desk stated it was to a room with a better view andthe view was the parking ramp!(from a classic room to a luxury) Continually approached to attend time share conferences in hotel lobby/casino."

"The registration line was unbelievable! We arrived at 1030PM, and the line was way back down the hallway.We returned our luggage to the car, and went to the casino. Returned at 1130, and the line was even longer. I stood in line until 1250. I took the time to book a room in advance so I didn't have to stand in line waiting for a room. I do NOT understand why there wasn't a separate line for people who hadn't pre-booked a room, and for people who took the time to pre book one to avoid the wait. This was a HUGE negative experience for me and my husband, and many people in the line. I was expecting to be able to swim in the pool, but it was closed. Do no understand this. Not especially happy with my experience here."

"The Riviera staff were consistantly courteous and helpful. Particularly the team in the British Pub, where the food and entertainment was also well above par. The only negative is logistics to the rest of the 'strip' which is either a taxi or long walk, no tram, etc., on the other hand they are much more convenient than other 'strip' hotels if you like to visit downtown. I would give the Riviera at least 4.5 stars and would recommend them as 10 of 10 for dollar value, to anyone visiting Las Vegas.

"1st impressions go a long way! When we checked into the hotel, we were told that they didn't have any smoking rooms available, which we reserved. That was understandable since we were checking in after 9pm. She told us that there were no guarantees on which rooms would be available. She said that it is stated on the website that they cannot guarantee preferable rooms. She was very rude and said that we should be lucky to be staying there, and commented on how using a booking agent we got a cheap deal. The clerk should be lucky she still has a job, because her customer service was terrible. She gave us a non smoking room. When we got into the room, It hadn't been cleanned since 11/16/11. There were dust particles all over. Around midnight I went back to the registration desk and talked to another clerk, she was very friendly and helped us get our room changed the next day. The 1st clerk was not very friendly and very rude. Needless to say we didn't use the amendities at the hotel. We spent our $$$$$ at other hotels and casinos who were very friendly."

"The Riviera was great! The staff were all nice and we were treated with respect. We were given a complimentary dinner for two at the R steak house when they found out it was my birthday, and given a ride to the airport in their Limo. I feel they really went out of their way to see that we had a good stay. The rooms were clean and well kept. Service was great. We stayed 9 days and would return again!"

"The Riviera was a little less than I expected. It is older and shows its age a bit. We let BookIt do the booking and never checked out the rooms. They did have newer rooms but we didn.t stay there.Being on the north end of the strip not a lot was going on.The hotel was OK for what we paid. "I was able to book a same day reservation through bookit.com and was successful in obtaining the confirmation and checking into the hotel within 2 hours of the reservation.
The room that I was given was decent. The decor was fair and the room size was fair as well. Beds were clean and sheets smelled fresh. This is a good hotel to stay at if you are on a budget and you don't really want to invest in all the 'extras'.
One complaint I do have...The beds are uncomfortable and way too firm. I didn't sleep well at all."

"Everything was exactly as advertised and better! The staff went above and beyond in all ways and in ways I could not have anticipated or expected. Always helpful even when I did not ask for help finding things in the hotel or outside the hotel they suggested and gave advice. Room view was not the best but room itself was in great shape. The coffee shop had great breakfast with free amazing french puff rolls ....cheese and caramel. The staff was attentive and coffee cup was never empty. The entire hotel and casino was clean from top to bottom. Free parking was great perk! I would recommend it fully!"

"We have been to Las Vegas several times and have always avoided the Riviera Hotel as we thought it was old and dated and to far down the strip. On the recommendation of the Bookit.com operator we stayed at the Riviera Hotel and had a great experience. Very clean, a free upgrade, a great pool and the steakhouse is to die for. We walked to the Bellagio or its a $10 taxi. If your looking to play poker you'll probably want to go somewhere else. Overall it was a 5 star experience for a 2 star price. We would highly recommend the Riviera Hotel and Bookit.com."

"My wife and I wanted a cheap, safe, comfortable and clean place to stay for 2 nights and got all that and more from the Riviera. When I looked it up on Wikepedia, I almost cancelled after seeing it had filed bankruptcy last year, but am glad I didn't now in hindsight.
I had a great breakfast at the buffet ($11) and got a free glass of wine out of our coupon book. Also used a coupon for half off 2nd entree at the British Pub (24 hr service) and were both quite pleased with our entrees, which we placed the order for at 1:15 AM and were served at about 1:30 (not bad).
Pool was heated and quite nice and clean looking, even though neither of us had time to swim. All property was well maintained. We had a bus stop right across the street and one thing I really enjoyed was old vintage pinball machines on one end of the casino. We might spend a little more and book a place more modern and more central if we ever return, especially if for a longer stay but our room had a 40' flat screen, window a/c that was a bit noisy but worked fine, nicely appointed bathroom and small fridge. Our view was lousy, but fine because all we really did was sleep and bath there. We were in the Monaco Tower."

"When I read the reviews just before we went and was a little doubtful about staying at the Riv. There was certainly no need to worry as check in was quick, the room in the Monaco Tower was large and clean, the pool was fantastic and the casino had all the games we wanted. "As a motivational speaker/comedian..my FIVE NIGHT stay at The Rivieria was AWESOME! I teach a 'customer service program' and actually got some new material on HOW BEST to take care of people and make them feel at HOME! From the doorman who said he 'loves his job' to the check in person who greeted me warmly, to the entertainment staff who were off the charts NICE...to the pool guys and buffet people....heck even the Bell stand Dudes...KICK ASS...and asked when are you comig back? "My wife and I were surprised to say the least. Old venue, but exceptional hospitality. We spent most of our time away from the hotel, but it sure was relaxing to stroll past the crystal blue pool each late night and crawl up in our comfy bed. Slept like a champ. We probably will stay at Ceasars or the Bellagio next time because of all the happenings we attended and witnessed, but I'd be glad to recommend the Riviera to anyone. It's a comfy, cozy, resting place on the strip !!!

"I really enjoyed my four night stay at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pros of the property included a prompt check in and friendly staff. I stayed in the newer Monaco Tower. When I arrived to my room, it was clean, spacious and the bed was soft and comfortable. I absolutely loved my 32' flat screen TV, large closet space and mini fridge with the wet bar. Housekeeping cleaned my room daily and always replenished my towels. There was an abundant food selection including a food court, a buffet and a Victorian pub with live music. Kristopher's steak house was closed for renovations. The pool was large, inviting and extremely refreshing after a hot day on the strip. The DJ kept the atmosphere at the pool upbeat, the music was modern and not too loud. I also liked the fact they had a lifeguard on duty at all times, as well as friendly cocktail waitresses serving drinks poolside. The property also offered several shows including the Rat Pack and Crazy Girls.
The Casino had several games to choose from and the dealers were all extremely funny and entertaining. The ABC store really came in handy for my everyday needs, and the prices were reasonable. There was also a beauty shop, tattoo parlor and a wedding chapel. The deuce bus was a great way to get around the strip for a reasonable price. The bus pass was $5.00 and you could pay $2.00 more to upgrade to the 24 hour pass. I would suggest the bus if you plan on doing any sightseeing. The bus is also conveniently located in front of the hotel. Overall I was very happy with my experience and would recommend this property to all of my friends and family! "
