Visiting KC for a few days midweek with family for a little getaway. Hampton Inn was solid as usual. Nice, new, clean rooms with comfortable beds. Free breakfast. Convenient location, near the high end Country Club shopping area, free parking, free wifi and friendly staff. What else you can you ask for for under $200/night?

The hotel is quite nice and a short walk to the Plaza shops and restaurants. The walk back is up a very steep side road so be prepared. We did notice several taxis close by so you could always grab one of those if you're not able to walk up the steep hill. And it's a relatively short distance. It really didn't bother me and maybe even helped work off the excellent dinners we had in the area. Parking is free in the attached parking garage, which is a huge bonus with some Plaza hotels charging u... Read more

This hotel was nice and a perfect location in the plaza. Many shops and restaurants in walking distance, as well as museums and beautiful sculptures and fountains. I would warn that there is no restaurant or bar on premises, so if that will make or break your decision to stay here, that's something to think about. There is a happy hour for 2 hours each day, though. Also, my room did not have a refrigerator or microwave. I asked for a fridge and they immediately had one brought over, so that... Read more

We have stayed at this Hampton Inn several times each year, for over 5 years. Our daughter graduated from Rockhurst University and we reserved 2 rooms. When making the reservation I was told that a Rockhurst discount was not available, like it had been each time we stayed in the past. I was disappointed, but still booked the rooms. The hotel was a-buzz with friends and family for graduations and weddings and such. Service and accommodations were very nice, as usual. Saturday night, actually... Read more

I was looking for a place to stay with a whirlpool / jacuzzi tub. After some calling around, I finally found Hampton Inn and Suites. The phone staff was very helpful. We stayed in the Plaza Suite. This hotel is easy to find and check-in was easy. The parking garage was tight but there seemed to be ample parking. The staff was friendly, the room was big enough and clean. A lot of younger business types were staying there and it was a bit crowded at breakfast. Breakfast is typical free Hampton fare. My only complaint was the location. This Hampton is within walking distance to Country Club Plaza but it sits on the steepest hill in the area. It is a one block walk down, and I mean do... Read more

This hotel is in a great location, just a block off the main shopping and restaurant street. An easy stroll. It has underground parking, a large common area with great areas for doing business -- working alone or in groups, with lots of outlets, etc. The rooms are large and comfortable, the help is friendly. They have a well stocked mini-store with health and beauty needs as well as food and beverages.

I loved the facility except for not enough heat and the rates were too high with very little room for discounts. It is real close to Country Club Plaza and Jack Stacks Rib Joint. The comfort food at Jack's was awesome. Be sure to try the scalloped corn and the potato salad.

We arrived late Friday night and the hotel was fully booked. Apparently the previous guest had smoked in the room and they had been running ozone equipment in attempt to remove the smell. This is a great location with a staff that goes the extra mile. The rooms need a little work. The AC did not work great and felt a bit tired. But the staff is very available and wants to help. From restaurant requests, help in the store, new keys and a nightly reception in the lobby, they make it feel like a smaller hotel than it is.

We travel often and usually stay at a Hilton/Hampton Inn property. We find them to be fairly consistent and reliable. This hotel was no exception and nicer than many, probably due to it's location. Be aware that if you plan on walking to and from the Plaza this hotel is at the top of a fairly steep hill so if you have any challenges it's better to drive down and park somewhere. We planned our 3 day family stay here based primarily on TripAdvisor reviews. The location was comparable to the rate, service outstanding, and the parking free--all in the plus column. We loved this hotel! The spacious room had a kitchen area with microwave, frig, dishwasher and stove - great for travelers! The sofa bed in the living area was very comfortable. This is a great hotel, conveniently located near Country Club Plaza. We got a suite this time, and would definitely go that way in the future. Although we didn't use the kitchen amenities, it was nice to have the fridge and freezer, as well as the "living room" area. Bedroom was spacious, bed was comfy. For Hampton's usual standards, I was disappointed in the brand of coffee offered in the room. (Maybe it was just the instant maker that was the culprit.) Breakfast was good...nice selection..... When we arrived, my room had been sold, but I was upgraded to other accommodations and the evening front desk attendant was fantastic. The room was clean and orderly. The only thing keeping this from a five-star rating was breakfast. It was plentiful, but tasteless. If you are happy with toast and cereal, go for it. If you want eggs, oatmeal, etc., skip the hotel offering, even though it's free, and enjoy something better on the Plaza.

We stayed overnite in a2 Q room, high floor, mountain view. Theroom was spacious, comfortable, quiet, andnicely ac'd. A 2 block walk brings you to the upscale CountryClub Plaza/ mall with a dozen restaurants and many shops. A 10 minute drive brings you to Union Station and the adjacent hilly WWI memorial, and a few minutes more finds you downtown with some music mostly on weekends and the waterfront. A nice place to stay.

Went here after going to Country Club Plaza and a baseball game. The hotel is huge. It has a parking garage, a pool and exercise room that are large, and a ballroom/conference center. Getting to room can be a pain as you have to get to parking garage elevator, ride it up, get out, go through lobby and ride other elevator to floor with room. They do not use the great pillows we get at other Hamptons do. They brag that Country Club Plaza is very near, it is but there is very steep walk, not an easy walk. This place has mostly business folks during the week. Weekends are packed with folks attending some sports event, weddings, or overrun with families with small kids. Not a place for mature travellers who want a quiet place.

Great hotel with wonderful staff. We always stay here when visiting the Plaza area. Easy to get to other places in KC from here as well. We enjoy the free breakfast, easy parking and the hotel amenities. This hotel is very clean and the rooms are always wonderful.

We were in town for a wedding. The location was very convenient for traveling around the city. The breakfast was great and very convenient with our busy schedule. The staff was helpful and the housekeeping team was amazing. Our room was freshened up daily and they were so friendly. The property has covered parking that is secure and convenient.

My husband and I loved the location! Close to wonderful shops and restaurants. Upon returning from dinner, we walked the incline on Summit and were telling a friend in the lobby about it. Not complaining, just commenting. The hotel clerk heard our remarks and presented us with rubber bracelets imprinted with #isurvivedthehill. If you love exercise and are healthy, a round trip walk to the Plaza is a must; If not, take a cab back to the hotel. Thanks, Hampton Inn, for a wonderful visit! And, by t... Read more

I stayed here with a friend for an event on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO. This hotel was in perfect walking distance to our event as well as close to bars and restaurants. The staff was extremely friendly and even upgraded us to a suite which was awesome.

This hotel is in a great location in Kansas City, staff was very helpful and enthusiastic, and the rooms were great. The fitness room was serviceable, the complimentary breakfast was okay. They do offer a free Happy Hour for Wine and Beer.

As the other reviews have mentioned, this hotel is a short walk to the Plaza. Very nice. Otherwise, there really isn't much reason to stay here except maybe to get Honors points. The 70's style rooms have been renovated to more modern tones and I'm not sure if some items were left for nostalgic sake (see picture). The staff could hardly keep food on the buffet when I was there. Free parking is nice especially for the location as they could easily charge to park.

We use them whenever we travel. Rooms are quiet, clean and breakfast is good. The staff seems to like their job, always helpful and pleasant. You will not be disappointed with your stay at any Hampton Inn.

We traveled to Kansas City for a doctor's appointment for my son, but decided to make it a fun trip for the family. The staff at this Hampton Inn were able to get us an early check-in and adjoining rooms so that our children could nap. Without these accommodations, we would not have enjoyed our trip so much. And the breakfast is always a hit with the kids. Thanks again to the staff who made this an excellent experience!

Nice clean room and nice hotel. The decor is up to date. Nice to have a free breakfast and parking in this downtown location. A great place to stay while shopping the plaza. If you can't wslk hills though it may be difficult for you. I would definitely return. Staff was helpful and quick checkin.

The staff is very nice. The hotel is located in a great place for shopping. The hill as mentioned by others is very steep. Myself and my travel companion both have hip replacements and it was not that bad. In general the hotel is clean and you do see staff working to make sure common areas are welcoming and clean. However, the room cleaning staff could use some retraining. We left the room cleaned up every day and when we returned we found items that had been in the trash on the floor around ... Read more

Upon arrival, there was a man's shirt left hanging in the bathroom, the bathroom fan did not work, the carpets were not vacuumed, there was trash in the bottom drawer of the dresser and the walls were paper thin with a party going on in the room next door.

The Hotel Staff and Guest were Average: The Accomodations were Average: The Hotel appeared to have an issue with Quality Control: Management was not sensitive to the Customers needs: This again was a Average experience for a 5 star Hotel on The Plaza:

My husband and 20-month old son caught a stomach virus during our stay at the Hampton Inn (from outside sources, not the hotel). Unfortunately, my son was very sick - including vomiting multiple times in the bed. We were so embarrassed to have to call the hotel staff for help. However, the staff could not have been more helpful. The staff provided extra sheets, cleaning materials, buckets, etc. Not only were they so attentive, but they were absolutely kind and caring during the process. I cannot... Read more

Our entire family joined us in KC for Thanksgiving 2016! There were over 30 of us for Dinner and the Plaza Lighting. We "Out of Towners", stayed at the Hampton Inn Plaza. Great experience there by everyone! It was close to other family members that live in KC. And, it is "On the Plaza". Perfect location!

Nice hotel, friendly staff. We visited family in KC over Thanksgiving weekend. It's always a fun and festive time to visit the Plaza with the Holiday lighting ceremony, good new restaurants and Plaza shopping.
