Hotel staff never told us breakfast was $20 per person. We were charged $40 for fruit and coffee because we thought it was complimentary. Water never got hot the morning we checked out and it was only 5:30am.

The hotel is being renovated. It was easy to "excuse the dust" because the staff was just plain wonderful, from the front desk folks all the way down to the engineering staff. The room was immaculate and the hospitality outstanding. We would recommend this property to anyone going to the Kansas City area and would most likely stay again. Thanks!

Room was ordinary with 2 double beds (I prefer queens) a microwave and mini fridge. Nice, clean facility near restaurants. They were doing some work on the lobby area so there was cardboard and tape covering the entryway and elevator area. No big deal. I'm sure it will look nice when it is finished. Breakfast was not worth the $8.95 a person. Food was so-so and it was crowded. Maid service didn't get to our 6th floor room until nearly 5pm right when we returned to our room after being out all da... Read more

I only stay here when I visit this area. This is the best place to stay in the Independence area, close to restaurants and shopping centers. The only thing missing to make your stay great, are lighted makeup mirrors in the bathroom. Something I have come to expect from hotels at this level.

I have staid at other Hilton Gardens and have been delighted. This one was a Hilton Garden Inn was slapped onto another older hotel. The hot tub was cold (tepid) and the jets did not work. When we select a hotel it's because of the hot tub, we both have back issues and after an 8 or 10 hour drive it's the first thing we do. We make a "B" line to the hot tub. Also, the bed was too soft (maybe the mattress was too old) making the drive the next day all the more painful!

The hotel just finished renovating the rooms and I ask for a room that was newly renovated. The room as with most Hiltons and Hamptons are dark and dull. This one was the same. The room was not in good shape for a newly renovated room. Walls needed paint the carpet was dirty, and my new slippers were very dirty the next morning for just one evening of walking. The bathroom floor was very sticky as was the entire lobby area. The elevators were dirty as well. And the perfume smell in the ro... Read more

This one did not live up to my expectations of a Hilton Garden Inn. It appeared to me like another hotel that was taken over by Hilton and then stuck on the front entrance of a Hilton Garden. The pool was extremely small for all the kids that were there (a lot). The hotel was obviously at capacity, yet, they hired no additional help to clean. We were placed at the end of the hall and our room was not cleaned until after 4 PM every day. Then there was the unclean sheets the first night. I d... Read more

I love Hilton Garden Inn's but this one was not very well maintained. The cleanliness in the common areas was poor. Dirt on floors, elevator had spills in it, lobby restroom has towels all over floor and floor under urinal was disgusting. While I was checking in another guest came by and complained the room they gave him had no air conditioning and there was maintenance tools in the room.

My reservation was lost. It looked like my family and I were doomed until Mr. Maurice Jones appeared out of nowhere, somehow knowing the frustration both my self and the front desk clerk were having. Within seconds of his arrival, we were booked into our two rooms and all was good. During my stay I experienced extremely slow wifi connection each day, which seems typically of most hotels these days. Housekeeping service was not performed on my room and there was a couple hours of hammering/tapping in the room above me, which stopped after contacting the front desk. Fitness facility very subpar - workstation TVs did not work on any of the equipment and much of it was in disrepair. On the plus, side, breakfast was good.

We had a top floor room, which we prefer. I did know it was under construction and that the pool wasn't open prior to arrival but not prior to booking. We weren't there during the day so we never heard any construction noise. The decor is very nice. The customer service was excellent. Breakfast is extra, but I think that's typical for this chain. The location in KC was perfect for our stay but not if you want to be near the zoo or Country Club.

I have stayed here many times over the years due to location and access the the KC metro area for business. The recent upgrades to the exterior and interior space puts it on par with newer properties. We'd stopped coming due to the renovations, but seeing the work completed it is a nice hotel. The first room had no hot water and low water pressure. A maintenance man came and said the hot water issue was solved and we were "good to go". Tried it again and still no hot water. I was moved to another room. This one had hot water but the water pressure was still extremely low, making showering very difficult. There was also some unknown stains on the shower curtain. I tongued it our for the weekend but would not book this hotel again. On the plus side, the staff was extremely nice and help... Read more

We stay at Hilton properties and have always had great experiences at Garden Inns. The front staff at this hotel was excellent and we checked-in in about 2 minutes as we had pre-selected our room and everything was ready and in order. Unfortunately the air conditioning did not work. I played with the wall controller and with the unit in the window all to no success. Since we got there late and we ending a long trip I just decided to ignore it. I woke up in the very early morning and found the ro... Read more

Great location for a hotel. It's very easy to get on and off I-70. Last time I stayed they were remodeling the the breakfast area and it is now completed.Looks great. Easy access to many nearby restaurants for dinner.

This hotel had an inviting lobby and rooms were clean. The location is great. It's near Independence Mall, other strip malls and many restaurants. Easy access to Interstate 70. The staff was very friendly and efficient.

Breakfast staff are welcoming and friendly. Desk staff adequate but not extraordinary. I asked on two consecutive mornings to have the clock in my room adjusted for the switch to Standard time which happened two days ago (not a surprise, and there was a sticker on the back of the clock saying only hotel staff should enter there) but after two days' requests, it still was on Daylight time. One of the treadmills didn't work. There's a busy interstate behind the hotel and also freight trains go pa... Read more

Hot tub was not working, no sign and no warning. When I inquired about this I was informed that it is always broken. Television did not work properly, had only a few channels. When I inquired about the television, I was told that the cable provider messed up there signal and there was nothing they could do to fix it. Upon further discussion, with maintenance, they told me that this was not an issue with all the rooms, just some. I had her speak to the front desk, and they finally moved us t... Read more

The lobby of this hotel is great, and that is where it ends. The room was dirty, the bathroom was even worse. The toilet overflowed while we were out of the room and not only were we not offered discounts or compensation, but the friendly-but-less-than-competent staff failed to clean up the toilet water (which had leaked under the sink and into the sleeping area carpeting) or remove the toilet water-soaked towels. Stay here if you have to - you could do worse. I would NOT recommend it, though.

Although I had a couple of problems (reservation and shower), the problems were resolved. I think the hotel was very clean; had all the conveniences I needed (including a FANTASTIC steak house with a bar); had friendly, accommodating staff; excellent REAL breakfast, not just pastries; even an awesome fire pit outside which we were able to sit around late at night. It was great and I was happy to be there.

The hot tub was not hot, it was cold. Also there was dirt in the bottom of it. This was very disappointing. Also workers came in to replace lighting fixtures in that pool area and were banging around making lots of noise while we were trying to relax. Otherwise OK.

Not what I expected! Rooms were clean but had a musty odor to them. Our sink in the bathroom overflowed and flooded the bathroom. The front desk was extremely nice and moved our room. They don't offer a free breakfast which was dissapointing.

Shower had hair in it and check in staff was rude. They didn't clean up after a meeting in common area. Kids were running wild with no supervision. We weren't even told about the complimentary breakfast only the expense one.

Stayed here with some coworkers from India on a post Thanksgivings Day trip to show them more of America than a small town in Minnesota :). This hotel was a great value on our trip. Service was good, rooms were clean and well appointed. We were only there for the night so we didn't get a chance to use all the amenities, but the free wifi worked well. All in all this hotel was a good option for our needs.

The hotel was full of kids. The pool seemed to be a major attraction. In any case, the noise level was pretty high, which is to be expected when you have that much energy under one roof. The hotel seemed fine: it was clean and well maintained; the mattress was good. But we'll look for an alternative in the future.
