Hotel staff never told us breakfast was $20 per person. We were charged $40 for fruit and coffee because we thought it was complimentary. Water never got hot the morning we checked out and it was only 5:30am.

The hotel is being renovated. It was easy to "excuse the dust" because the staff was just plain wonderful, from the front desk folks all the way down to the engineering staff. The room was immaculate and the hospitality outstanding. We would recommend this property to anyone going to the Kansas City area and would most likely stay again. Thanks!

Room was ordinary with 2 double beds (I prefer queens) a microwave and mini fridge. Nice, clean facility near restaurants. They were doing some work on the lobby area so there was cardboard and tape covering the entryway and elevator area. No big deal. I'm sure it will look nice when it is finished. I only stay here when I visit this area. This is the best place to stay in the Independence area, close to restaurants and shopping centers. The only thing missing to make your stay great, are lighted makeup mirrors in the bathroom. Something I have come to expect from hotels at this level.

I have staid at other Hilton Gardens and have been delighted. This one was a Hilton Garden Inn was slapped onto another older hotel. The pool was small and the internet could not handle the crowded hotel. If you are staying during a time that the hotel is not crowded, it may be decent but if it is full... expect issues.

The hot tub was cold (tepid) and the jets did not work. When we select a hotel it's because of the hot tub, we both have back issues and after an 8 or 10 hour drive it's the first thing we do. We make a "B" line to the hot tub. Also, the bed was too soft (maybe the mattress was too old) making the drive the next day all the more painful!

The hotel just finished renovating the rooms and I ask for a room that was newly renovated. The room as with most Hiltons and Hamptons are dark and dull. This one was the same. The room was not in good shape for a newly renovated room. Walls needed paint the carpet was dirty, and my new slippers were very dirty the next morning for just one evening of walking. This one did not live up to my expectations of a Hilton Garden Inn. It appeared to me like another hotel that was taken over by Hilton and then stuck on the front entrance of a Hilton Garden. The pool was extremely small for all the kids that were there (a lot). The hotel was obviously at capacity, yet, they hired no additional help to clean. Staff was pleasent and helpful. Hotel/rooms were VERY clean. Breakfast was fabulous-anything you could possibly want was available. Servers in the breakfast area were very helpful going above and beyond to help the guests.

I love Hilton Garden Inn's but this one was not very well maintained. The cleanliness in the common areas was poor. Dirt on floors, elevator had spills in it, lobby restroom has towels all over floor and floor under urinal was disgusting. While I was checking in another guest came by and complained the room they gave him had no air conditioning and there was maintenance tools in the room.

My reservation was lost. It looked like my family and I were doomed until Mr. Maurice Jones appeared out of nowhere, somehow knowing the frustration both my self and the front desk clerk were having. Within seconds of his arrival, we were booked into our two rooms and all was good. THEN, for the remaining two days that we were there, he checked in on us to make sure we were having an awesome experience. During my stay I experienced extremely slow wifi connection each day, which seems typically of most hotels these days. Housekeeping service was not performed on my room and there was a couple hours of hammering/tapping in the room above me, which stopped after contacting the front desk. Fitness facility very subpar - workstation TVs did not work on any of the equipment and much of it was in disrepair. On the plus, side, breakfast was good.

We had a top floor room, which we prefer. I did know it was under construction and that the pool wasn't open prior to arrival but not prior to booking. We weren't there during the day so we never heard any construction noise. The decor is very nice. The customer service was excellent. Breakfast is extra, but I think that's typical for this chain. The location in KC was perfect for our stay but not if you want to be near the zoo or Country Club.

I have stayed here many times over the years due to location and access the the KC metro area for business. The recent upgrades to the exterior and interior space puts it on par with newer properties. We'd stopped coming due to the renovations, but seeing the work completed it is a nice hotel. Came to town for the Royals game. Located 9 miles east of Kauffman Stadium on I-70. Clean, well appointed rooms. Wifi works well. Good breakfast. Hereford House restaurant is connected to the hotel. Independence Mall is nearby. Spent a night after traveling from Grand Junction, Colorado headed home to Virginia. Got a room away from elevator and it was just what we needed, nice and quiet. Staff was very friendly and let us know where we could go to eat nearby. Rooms were nice with mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. Plugs beside bed for charging phones. Would stay here again when in town.

Traveling through and stopped here for 1 night, used the mobile checkin and picked our room. Hotel is clean, modern and very nice. Close to several restaurants. The only issue for us was if you look at it on map quest its showing beside interstate- but you have to drive few miles after you get off I70 to get there.

My friend and I stayed one night. We were not in our room much, but we were very happy with the cleanliness of hotel and our room. We had an easy check in, receiving bottle water from desk clerk. Hotel great location -- right off Interstate 70 -- easy in, easy out. If we want to go shopping, plenty of stores in area. Good restaurants in walking distance as well. I would definitely recommend this HGI. Will stay again.

Have always been a Hilton chain user. My wife recently had shoulder surgery and we had asked for additional pillows with our reservation. They were in the room waiting for us. We were able to check-in on line before our arrival. The front desk people were very friendly and efficient. Our breakfast was very good with a good selection of everything you would expect from a property of this caliber. All of the breakfast people were also very friendly and attentive.

Lovely hotel - driving up the outside is attractive with fountains and secluded outside seating areas. The lobby is beautiful and inviting. Free refreshments available in the lobby. Staff was gracious upon check in and again when we had to check out early - no problems.

The staff offered a warm greeting when we walked in. The woman at the front desk went out of here way to make sure we had breakfast coupons, discount coupons for the steak house next door and a bottle of cold warter. Host of problems. Hands down the least impressive Hilton experience that I've had. Rooms are not much to speak of. Attention to details almost nonexistent. For the name and the money I was not impressed and was actually quite upset with the experience.

This is one of the largest garden a.m. I ever stayed. Unfortunately due to the size the parking lot is huge but I never had any problem finding parking space. The front desk is hit and miss , some of them extremely helpful , some of them I can tell they hate me being there ask questions from them. Interstate I-70 is right next to the hotel that is both good and bad. Good because you can jump on the highway easily and quickly. Bad is you hear the traffic all night long. I attended a conference for business. Conference staff are excellent. Hotel maintenance and housekeeping are horrible and non-responsive. Most uncomfortable bed I have ever encountered in a hotel. I reported concerns and problems numerous times, and they were never resolved. Definitely does not meet expectations of hotel brand.

My wife and I found this to be a decent place to stay while in town for a weekend getaway. The comp. internet wifi was barely useable, I'm sure this was purposely to get you to pay for the premium wifi. The room was nice and seemed to be clean. Would not recommend the in house steakhouse! your on-line website says you have suites and couching in some rooms very misleading their was no suites and no couching. when i call down to the front desk several time no one would answer the phone. i had to go down to the front desk and ask for what i needed.

I stayed at this hotel b/c it was suppose to be within walking distance to the Silverstein Arena. But it's not as close as the website suggests. This should be clarified on their website. I traveled solo thinking I could just walk there alone which was not true. It was about a 8 minute drive and there were actually other hotels that were closer.

We booked three rooms through hotwire at this hotel. Hotwires terms and agreement clearly states that the hotel will provide beds for all people in your party. We had four adults and five kids listed on our hotwire reservation and this hotel insisted that they could only give us three king bedrooms with one rollaway. This is an older hotel but everything was fine with the facility. I did not like the tile in the bathroom as it was uncomfortable on bare feet. The premium internet did not act premium at all - had I paid for it I would have wanted the cost of the internet removed from my bill. I have noticed a change at the HGI brand regarding coffee. We were under the impression that breakfast came with the room, but were advised, "only thing free was the coffee". If we had known no breakfast, we would not have booked the rooms at these prices. Upon early arrival my room was not ready but they offered to hold my luggage upon my return. I was very pleased with how they treated me and made sure everything was taken care of. The room was clean and the bed made it easy to fall asleep away from home. Staff was nice and the breakfast was perfect.

Our family stayed here one night while passing through the area on vacation. Great location, nice hotel, and clean/comfortable rooms. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly -- even gave our 7-year-old daughter a coloring book when we checked in. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again if travels brings us back to the area.

The hotel was very clean and the room was Huge! There is a lovely walking/jogging/ bike track that circles the hotel. The indoor pool and hot tub looked nice but didn't get a chance to use them because we stayed for just one night.

We were in town for a funeral and needed a block of rooms. There was an issue with one of the rooms, and it was immediately addressed and we were given breakfast passes for our entire party for the length of our stay as retribution for the room problem. Clean, modern, and excellent location, We were very pleased with everything!

They have a great manager here. It's been the same nice young lady for several years, and she does a great job keeping things perfect. Hotel is always quiet and clean, and that goes for inside the hotel, plus the parking lot is always picked up and looks great. The appearance and friendly staff with a yummy restaurant adjacent. I was disappointed however with after entering my room discovering a strong smell of cigarette smoke. I requested a room change they had me move 3 doors down which was not any different. I had a 8pm checkin so with the hotel being fully booked I was unable to really request another room.

Long wait, well over 30 minutes to check in despite the fact I had checked in on-line. The hotel was packed, therefore the hallways were not clean, the pool was cloudy. I would try to stay at another hotel if I would have the option again.

Terrible internet. Only 2 elevators for 6 floors. Only one was operational. It was slow and problematic. When the elevator stopped at a selected floor the elevator floor was not even with the destination floor.

Basic hotel with good service. Has the Hereford House steak restaurant attached which has great food. We also stay here when going to the Chiefs or Royal's game as it is a short drive away. Breakfast was very good with a custom omelette.

Arrived unable to reserve in advance because of my own internet issue. Tried to set up the room onsite apparently they were not able to accommodate whatever it was. We stayed here for a series at Kauffman Stadium. It was very hot outside. The A/C in the room was perfect as was the cleanliness and condition of the room. We were greeted by Solomon, the Front Desk Agent. He went out of his way to accommodate our every need. Every staff member we encountered was very nice. Checked in tuesday August 23rd on our way to Colorado for a hunting trip. Our 2015 F-250 fully loaded with camping and hunting gear and a trailer with two atvs and more hunting gear were all stolen. Hilton Garden didnt comp us anything and wash their hands of providing you with a secure place to park your vehicle by having a sign inside that says "they are not responsible for vehicles parked outside". So "beware, they don't use any security or cameras in their parking lot.

I got an excellent government rate for this hotel. Upon check in I inquired as to whether breakfast was included in the rate and was given a coupon for free hot breakfast for my party. We have stayed in the Hilton brand motels before, but I must say this motel was absolutely beautiful. We used points and money and secured 2 rooms. We were treated like royalty. The staff is exceptional. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The little cheese/fruit plate was a treat when we got to our room as we had traveled all day.

Arrived very very late for my reservation and the lady at the front desk was bubbly and happy to us! Unfortunately we had requested the wrong type of room and she did everything in her power to get it situated for us, this even included providing us four with free breakfast. The room was clean and the beds were comfy! Perfect location for a chiefs or royals fan to stay as the stadiums are a short drive away.

We drove in from St. Louis to catch a KC Chiefs game and visit the Negro Baseball Leagues museum. The hotel location was in great proximity of both venues. We traveled from Montana to Alabama, and Independence was a good stopping point. Website made finding the hotel easy, and we We're given a great rate. Room was clean and comfortable. Great restaurant. Easy access to highway.

A group of us stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for business at the Conference Center. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The hotel has recently been renovated with a very modern look and feel. The conference staff took very good care of us and our requests. The conference room was quiet which made the presentations much easier to hear. Overall, a great experience. I will return to this location again!!

Excellent beds, wonderful people at front desk, super breakfast buffet with special order grill. Breakfast waitress was very good. It is a beautiful place one of the nicest we have stayed in. We will not consider any other place when we are in the area.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant is one of the best I have been to anywhere. The location is fabulous - anything you could need is close by, some within walking distance.
