I love the ambience of a hotel and the Hilton Garden Inn (formerly the King Edward Hotel) in Jackson, MS did not disappoint. From the moment that we stepped up to the front desk and were greeted by Qu who told us that each guest was treated like a king, the tone was set for a very pleasant 5-day stay. GoOd eats. Good lobby. Good service. Great linens. Nice room. But why are you keeping your guests literally in the dark with those cheap-o light bulbs? I don't care what they tell you at Bulbs-r-Us, those itty bitty lights in the fixtures are not equal in lumen output after years of service. They grow dim. From the moment I woke up, I could tell it was gonna be one of those days. Nothing was going right. Things didnt improve until I got to the check in desk when an employee walked by and heard my complaints. It was when Tra, a front desk agent went completely out of his way to accommodate my needs very promptly. I would suggest you give the Hilton in downtown Jackson a try but ONLY if you call ahead to request Tra's superior services!

I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff was so friendly and accommodating! The kitchen was taking a VERY long time to prepare our food and the manager noticed this, so he asked if we would like some soup while we waited. We very much liked this.

This was by far the best hotel service I have ever received. We lost our WIFI connection and was on the phone to ask for help...they said hold a second..literally there was a knock on the door...the guy was there to fix the problem. I write this review as I still sit it my room. Let me say that this is a gorgeous hotel; my room was nice (and clean) and I enjoyed the bar scene as well. I had no issues with noise. To me, that's what makes a hotel stay "acceptable." I live locally but I came here in hopes of relaxing and getting a real treat. (I'm a Hilton member, btw.) It was a bit concerning to learn that the GM for this Hilton required the televisions in the common areas to be on FOX News. I do understand keeping the TV on the news for the guest choice or ESPEN, but to require 1 news station and a very biased news at that is disturbing. We only stayed here one night, but it was very good. Staff were very friendly from check in to check out. The rooms were clean and fairly modern. The hotel also has free wifi which worked well. The fitness center was well set up with a good amount of equipment. Breakfast was extra to our room. Typical hotel pricing, but omelette's made to order meant it was worth it.

Some staff were VERY nice and others not so much. Room 331 smelled like smoke and the uplights on the hotel are RIGHT ON THE LEDGE. Even with the blackout curtains it was pretty bright. The front desk staff was incredible. I did ask for a bottle of wine from the bar and the lady took over 20 minutes dealing with other customers and when I saw her cleaning bar glasses and not getting my bottle I just decided to go upstairs. I had the most amazing stay at this most fabulous, and beautiful hotel for a few nights. When I arrived very late, and a nice young man named Tray helped us with our luggage and we got to the front desk no one was behind there so Tray took it upon himself to check us in to a nice and very clean room. Erica was a brilliant server she was always attentive of all our needs. The bathroom in my room had strong mildew/foul smell. when asked for changing a room, front desk said no room in this hotel had ventilation, which made bathrooms wet and stink all the time. As I know it is a violation of constructional code in my state for a bathroom not having a ventilation. Don't know why MS allows this happen.

This grand old hotel lived up to expectations. The staff is courteous and go beyond what is necessary to see that every detail is handled. The only issue I had, I had not been informed valet parking wasn't complimentary.

I only booked this hotel because it was in close proximity as I was there on business. Had I known better I would have made other accommodation with a nicer hotel a few miles away. What a total surprise to pull up to the hotel and have valet service that was top notch. They took our bags and put our vehicle in a secured parking lot. Took us to our room on the 4th floor and it was most excellent with a King Sized bed and 40" LED Hi Definition TV. The room has its own thermostat and amenities. They also have an indoor pool and Jacuzzi. The restaurant has a 5 star breakfast that is mouth watering. You will be amazed and delighted with your stay at this hotel.

The Hilton Garden was the best hotel our travel agency could locate in the Jackson area. The location was ok, although it is located by train tracks but I didn't hear any trains but you could see them passing by, so that was a plus. Stopped here because we wanted a shorter drive and a chance to eat at a great local restaurant. Drive in from the north on capital was a bit dodgy. Hotel was very nice with friendly service. We really loved this hotel. They did a great job remodeling but kept the feel of an older hotel. The location is outstanding and the old shops across the street are in the first stages of renovation. This area could not be cuter.

We had a 15 1/2 hour drive home from our vacation and wanted to stay in a hotel halfway. I am a Hilton Honors member so prefer to stay in Hiltons when possible. Awesome property, awesome staff everything 10+. I work for a competitor chain that is 1st class, however this property ranks among the best! I would recommend to family, friends and coworkers. The restaurant staff was great during breakfast, that was my only chance to eat there. Front desk, engineering & housekeeping are departments I had speak with each and all had the same wonderful attitude.

This hotel is finely finished and has a great staff. This hotel was refinished recently and looks brand new with a great character. Has only valet parking at hotel. Has a great restaurant. We had a great suite with accessible features. There is a pool and gym.

Stayed here while traveling through on vacation. The hotel was beautiful and we had no issues. One thing to note - the location is fairly run down (arriving at night wasn't ideal). That being said, having valet made the arrival much quicker. We will definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

Expensive valet parking with cheaper daily parking on the street. Our door was incredibly hard to open and close due to loose hinges, toilet was leaking, and "adjustable" mattress mechanism was broken. Reported issues to desk and the issues were not resolved as promised. Not worth the money, but it looks nice, at least.

It's easy to stay in one of the hotels on I-55, but take a little trip into downtown Jackson and stay at the remodeled Hilton Garden Inn. The Southern charm is still alive with its grand staircase and ballrooms. Yes, there is not much downtown but hotel has so much history that it is worth the 5mins to get off the strip mall hotels. The bar is fantastic and the restaurant is just as good.

The room was lovely. The staff was very nice. But housekeeping was incapable of daily replacing the proper number of towels and replacing soap, shampoo (etc.), cups, etc - EVERY day. I had to call downstairs daily and have them bring me these items. Also, the restaurant was inexcusably slow for me and my friends - EVERY day. First of all it's an excellent choice because of the price. It's difficult to get a hotel of this caliber around $100. Make sure that you ask for the older bedding. The new bedding is not as comfortable as the older ones. The breakfast is great. The dinner is even better. A nice experience overall. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Meals are a good quality, but the menus could be more versatile. No transportation provided to and from the airport. Uber service available and is very good. My room was nice and clean, comfortable beds. Would stay there again.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend attending a friend's wedding in Mississippi's capital city. The hotel and rooms were clean, and the staff was courteous and very helpful. We felt safe and loved the atmosphere of downtown Jackson, and enjoyed exploring nearby restaurants.

Nice customers service. Only problem I had was the room temperature me and wife slept uncomfortable due to that. The location wasn't the best. U have to pay for parking. To me the room isn't worth 125 a night. Just my opinion

What a beautiful place to stay! I was warmly greeted by the valet who gave me plenty of time to get my things in order before heading into the lobby. I was very impressed with the quality of service at this hotel. Front desk staff members were courteous and professional. And the food was simply outstanding. I would strongly recommend the ribs and delicious pork chop with seasoned mashed potatoes. The room was very clean and all amenities were in place. Try the "birthday cake" latte at the nearby coffee shop. Wow!!! Overall, this was a great experience and we had joyous time. The price of the room was also reasonable.

The Jackson MS downtown Hilton Garden Inn in the renovated historic King Edward Hotel is a nod to a more gracious era. The lobby decor is elegant. The staff are wonderfully attentive. The restaurant had custom-made omelettes and a bountiful buffet. The bar served Mississippi Mules featuring the locally made vodka. Traditional blues playing softly in the background made me want to stay on another week.

Stayed here recently as part of a wedding event. The hotel is old but nicely redone. The lobby is delightful. The room was clean and accommodating. The bellman was very helpful. The front desk service was very poor however. Location convenient, but it across the street from some quaint but abandoned and disheveled buildings. Overall the experience was good

This was my first stay in Downtown Jackson and I was very pleased.The exercise room was good but a little small. It was easy to access and the equipment was in working order. Memory Foam mattresses have memorized where you should sleep, but otherwise, this hotel is excellent. The staff, restaurant, and breakfast was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Jackson area.

The mattress was not that comfortable and should look into some type of pillow top mattresses and not foam. Also; bathroom doors need some type of doorstop. House keeping can do a much better job overall

This will be the hotel that will be home when I visit Jackson. Beautiful architecture and a neat history that dates back to the 1860's. My room was very large with nice modern updates and clean. Lobby of the hotel is an awesome spectacle as you look up to the second floor. Cozy bar that had outdoor seating facing the sidewalk and street. Good staff overall. Did not have a chance to eat here.

We spent 3 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Jackson recently, and highly recommend it. The hotel has wonderful historic character, but everything was also spotlessly clean and new inside. This is a lovely old hotel in downtown Jackson. The lobby of this hotel is beautiful. The staff is very friendly, courteous and helpful. The rooms are a nice size and are very clean. The rooms have a small refrigerator and coffeemaker. There are many uninhabited buildings in the area, but we felt safe walking to a restaurant a few blocks away.

Beautiful hotel that is also a historical site. The reception desk employees were personable, helpful and kind. The room was clean and well appointed. I loved the walk in shower with no tub. I had a great experience at this hotel. It was very clean. The best part was the friendliness of the staff. They were very welcoming and always there if you needed something. One worker even walked with us down the street to a local restaurant and gave us his number in case we felt uncomfortable walking back after dark by ourselves.

I am very disappointed. Check in was quick. I had checked in online. I found the valet workers to be rude. I felt like I was intruding on their time. The room was nice. The bed was horrible. I even called down with intent to leave st 12:30. It was that bad. They informed me it was a number bed. I dropped as long as it would go. Oh my night two just as bad. A little hard to get to when I was there due to roadwork but well worth it. Probably the best hotel in a 200 mile radius. Don't let the HGI name fool you, this was and is a first-class hotel. Check out the nearby café, too.

The hotel was nice inside and all of the staff I encountered was also really nice. They do have valet here so I didn't need to worry about parking. My room was nice and clean, the AC worked and I was able to adjust the temperature in my room! Bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows that were also comfortable. The hotel was downtown and there are other restaurants around and a restaurant inside and breakfast too. So it had everything I needed.

This hotel was unexpected nice and everyone working here was nice. I would definitely stay here again on business or for personal travel. It's also neat that it's an historic property and still has a lot of its original charm, while being modern and up to Hilton quality standards.

My fiancee and I only stopped over here for one night to break up a long journey. Check in was smooth and efficient and staff was friendly and helpful. I had a nice stay with minimal problems. I enjoyed the outside sitting area and the weather was perfect in the evening to sit out. I was at the hotel for a conference and realized I had to make last minutes changes to my presentation. The computer room provided me with every thing I needed to make the necessary changes. I only regret that I did not have enough time to enjoy the inside pool.

Hilton downtown is the best! Service, valet, room, mattress, atmosphere all gets 2 thumbs up! Whether we come to Jackson for business or pleasure the Hilton downtown is a no brainer. You will not be disappointed.

No sooner than I opened my car door, there was a male yelling in anger which echoed the streets. No help with bags upon arrival, regardless of the numerous employees present. Sneezed all night due to an allergen in the room- source unknown. Room was reserved for 3 nights, but I checked out after the first.

Hotel is historic and redone nicely. Rooms are clean and adequate - nothing too fancy but done very nicely. Staff was friendly. Breakfast buffet was expensive for what you get so I recommend going to Seattle's Best Coffee shop (located in the hotel) for a coffee and breakfast snack.

Pleasant, comfortable hotel which is centrally located. Helpful staff; good value. The fitness room is solid, with cardio machines, dumbbells, etc., but the pool is too small for swimming. The area seems safe but is not exactly bustling.

This property was perfectly located for my purposes, the staff is first class, they were very courteous and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The valet service was excellent and the security was comforting. The prices in the the lobby store were extravagantly high.

Quality hotel for a great price. Beautiful lobby. Great rooms. No bathtub which I was hoping for and have to valet park at extra cost but our stay was great. Rooms updated, clean and comfortable. Also, join Hilton honors rewards program.

Very friendly staff. Loved the architecture of the building. Not a lot to do around outside of the hotel within walking distance. Visited the Mayflower cafe, one block away, food was tasty. Food business nearby have awkward business hours and the coffee shop inside the hotel closes at 2pm and the coffee was cold :(

When I arrived at the hotel I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and design of the lobby. Once I checked in and got to my room I realized that the air conditioning was not working. While I was going to dinner they did fix that. The main issue was there was a problem with the bed it was one of those adjustable beds, but no matter what setting it was on it deflated after about 10 minutes. Historic hotel in downtown Jackson. Beautifully renovated and updated. Hotel staff exhibited southern hospitality at its finest. We were at little concerned about safety in the downtown area, but felt safe and comfortable staying at this hotel. Will definitely stay here next time we visit Jackson.

This hotel in Jackson MS was in the best location in town. They have GgggRrreat customer service also valet parking. Those guys were on their job and boy were they fast. The stay was nice and do was the breakfast.

Not your typical Hilton Garden Inn. Lovely renovated grand old hotel downtown. Beautiful lobby, new decor. Very clean, bed was very comfy and best of all it was quiet. Wish we could have stayed longer. First time in Jackson so glad this historic building was saved from demolition. Hope to see the area even more revitalized in the future.

The rooms were pretty average, especially the bathrooms and hygiene amenities. The staff were very nice and professional. Hotel didn't quite feel of the scale that required valet parking only. Some self parking would be nice but hey, having valet keeps jobs for some folks so guess it's cool. Overall stay was good.

This hotel is in the location of the old King Edward Hotel and has been beautifully renovated! The staff is awesome and very helpful! We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely recommend it. Couple of problems though. It is right beside the railroad track so there is a lot of rumble from the train. This was a very beautiful hotel but I think everything was overpriced. Breakfast was super expensive there so you're better off going elsewhere to dine if you stay here. The staff could have been friendlier, some were most others not very...I personally wouldn't stay there again.

Room itself was old, but had new beds. Staff at the front desk were slow and not helpful. Could be a nice hotel with some upgrades. Excellent location. Breakfast buffet was very overpriced and waitress was not pleasant.

The valet parking lost my car. Took over 45 minutes for them to find it. The restaurant was good but served all the food and drinks on dirty dishes, they took care of my bill for the first time but the exact same thing happened again the next morning. The mattress was hard as rock. Worst nights sleep I've had in a really long time.

Reservations were a mess for the wedding party. Rooms were promised over the phone when making the reservations but were not available when we arrived. Invoice billing was a mess for the wedding party. Housekeeping mishandled several items that were never found when cleaning rooms.

Modern hotel amenities tucked in to an historic building in downtown Jackson. Staff encountered were all friendly. We required an immediate room change and we're handled quickly and efficiently. Valet parking was worth the cost.

I asked for a regular room, but was given a handicapped suite instead. The room was incredibly dirty - stains on the carpet, broken closet doors, window ledges covered in dust, etc. I asked to be moved, but was denied. The room smelled so bad I had to turn the air conditioner as low as it would do. I slept on top of the bed fully clothed and did not dare shower the next morning. How can they possibly call this a luxury hotel?

Wonderful historic hotel in DT Jackson. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and full of historic details. The staff is great and very engaging with all the guests. The hotel offers lots of food choices and has a great lounge atmosphere. There is also a Seattle's Best Coffee in the lobby.

I enjoyed my stay and will recommend this sight to family and friends. The food was really great...the rooms were nice and clean just to small. Beds were very firm and pillows were just right. The breakfast male waiter staff was extremely rude, became verbally abusive when I asked for a replacement coffee cup to to food particle stuck in the inside of it. Asked if I need someone to fan me and a band to play for me as well.

We were traveling on family vacation and decided to stop here spontaneously. The parking is valet only, but given the downtown location, this is understandable. This was the nastiest hotel I have ever seen. The first room we were given was riddled with dust and mold. I had an asthma attack on site. The second room was still dusty and the bed was broken hanging near to the ground. The acting manager refused to give us another room; instead she suggested bringing the box spring from the dusty moldy 1st room. We were traveling through Jackson on vacation and picked out the Hilton Garden Inn because it was downtown. A little surprised that the hotel was at one end of the downtown area that is a bit beaten up, but the hotel turned out to be fine. There is a fee for parking, but the valet service was really good. This hotel met Hilton's standards. The atmosphere was professional and customer oriented. Lobby was appealing and made one feel welcome. The staff was cordial and aimed to please the customer. The room was immaculately clean and the bath towels were very soft. The bed was so comfortable that it was hard to leave it once you rested on it. The entire hotel had a FRESH smell which was much appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was clean and the valet was very polite but the service is horrible, you can barely get housekeeping to clean your room. I'm from a bigger city so therefore they should have better quality of service for the smaller volume of people.

Wanted to get away for a couple days without actually going anywhere. Every staff member from beginning to the end was extremely friendly and welcoming. I will definitely come back for another staycation.
