Ifran, Corinna, and Kyle and front desk were superb! !! Thanks to all of you for making the trip enjoyable. Ifran thanks for your warm greeting. Kyle thanks for making sure my son didn't go down the escalator. Corinna thanks for correcting the parking issue. To the housekeeping staff . Thank you. Especially manager, Pam. Overall I liked the Holiday Inn Rochester downtown. I was in town for medical appointments with Mayo. It was ideally located with easy access to Mayo Clinic and the catwalk/subway system. They have a bar/restaurant which was ok for dining (food was just ok) and the bar was fine for a drink or two. The hotel is located around a couple great restaurants. The only problem I had was that for the 3 out of 7 days, I needed to have my room key... re-keyed which was annoying but an easy enough fix.... Read more

The location is great. Lots of nice restaurants in the area. Unfortunately the house keeping staff is not trustworthy. I left my nexus player hook up to the T.V. the morning I checked out. I was in a hurry on my way to a meeting. I called a half hour after I left. They told me they would check into it. I called 5 times over several days before I could talk with a manager. "They never found it" I travel for work all the time and always stay at an IHG Holiday Inn. I will never stay here again. Whe... Read more

Rochester is a busy town with Mayo near by. Nice room, quiet, pool area and sauna were nice and very clean. Very accommodating for our need for an early check in and late check out. Parking is in the public ramp at $13.75 a day. Take your parking ticket in to the holiday and they can add it to your bill. They gave me a another parking ticket and put it in the key card. I failed to look at it as the lobby staff did not explain what it was. The parking garage staff refused to let me leave the ramp... Read more

The river banks are right behind the hotel and it's an easy walk to restaurants. The river walk is terrific. There is a parking garage next to the hotel, with direct, covered access to the hotel. I was here for a business meeting and the facilities are decent, as are the rooms. There was often a long wait to get up the elevator and I often just took the stairs. The staff, while polite and friendly, is a little under-prepared. They misplaced my laundry order, for instance.

Hotel is close to the Mayo buildings which led to our stay here. The room we had was away from the elevator and pool so it was quiet. Room accommodations were decent. We were in our room for a bit after check in when the door opened. Person said sorry then closed the door and left. Second night returning to our room the key cards did not work. Went to counter and mentioned they were not working. They asked for the room number and reset the cards. Was not asked for any ID or proof that it was our... Read more

Have stayed at Doubletree Inn but they were booked and had jacked the price up almost double what we had paid previously. Called the Holiday Inn and were very pleased. They did government rate and had rooms. We arrived to find it across the street from the Double Tree. You can interconnect with the Skyway from the Holiday Inn. Facilities were very clean and updated. Large LED TV in the room. All our requests were met such as room location. One very nice thing is they did late checkouts. ... Read more

Never again! First, my check in was dealt with incredible incompetence. I booked this hotel due to my IHG loyalty. I travel each and every month of the year and have always tried to stay at an IHG hotel. The front desk could not locate my reservation. Then he attempted to book me in, at an elevated rate from my original booking, which was eventually located. The room had not been vacuumed prior to my arrival, nor once during my stay. The carpet was grotesque and disgustingly dirty. The sho... Read more

No issues with service, and room was fine overall; we plan to stay here again. Getting in and out from street entry requires elevator & walking; luggage carts at upstairs at hotel desk, not on ground level. Staff was outstanding - from desk reps to maintenance workers, every person we encountered offered us help; housekeeping workers were very kind and flexible with us having some delays getting out of the room. **Ask for help if you have someone who can't walk far; staff will bring wheelcha... Stayed with a baseball team and the first thing I will note regarding almost any downtown hotel is that it is a tricky balance between Mayo Clinic patients and families with kids. After 9 or 10 pm the two are not compatible. The pool and all hotel noise is strictly enforced at 10:00 at this hotel. I accepted that reality but the problem with the hotel is that it is severely outdated. Box spring was dirty, bathroom did not smell good and the bathtub in our room had a clogged drain. I didn't w... Read more

We checked in on a Friday evening for a baseball tournament weekend. On Saturday morning, housekeeping knocked on the door and I explained that we were leaving within the hour and she could clean then. We got back later in the afternoon and it wasn't cleaned. I was worried that housekeeping would be wrapping up their day, so I called and made sure it would be cleaned and they confirmed. Came back at 8pm and it still wasn't cleaned. Stayed in this old Holiday Inn one night as we were in the area. Comfortable beds, updated linens, but the entire building could use a makeover. Still the same as it was 40 years ago. The parking also leaves something to be desired. No off-street except the ramp, for which there is a charge. The location is dynamite - right downtown. Lots of places to walk, shop, and eat. Won't stay again though, til it is revamped.

The outside entrance on Broadway promised so much, but once inside, where does one go? Up the elevator? On an escalator? Down a hall? There was no bellman and no one at the sad-looking welcome desk there, so after meditating on the sparse signage, we decided to try our luck with the elevator, and eventually found the hotel check-in on the second floor. I was very surprised to find that our assigned room was an interior room with no windows. I asked for a different room, but the hotel was full,... Read more

Today's question is: What gives a hotel three stars? If three stars means the lobby looks spacious, ritzy, and like a bellhop is about to come around the corner to help you with luggage... If it means the rooms are a bit bigger, with nicer bedding, furniture and gold- or silver-painted frames around abstract wall hangings... If it means the bathroom has marble-style counter and shower walls... If it means your room has a Keurig coffee machine, then this is a three-star hotel. If, however, the... Read more

I wouldn't be surprised if IHG pulls the Holiday Inn Brand from this location in the foreseeable future. Upon walking into the hotel lobby, and judging the book by the cover, it looked like it would be a great place to stay. As I turned the first page of the book, and opened the hotel room door, it turned out to be one disappointment after another. The room was dated, there were no windows, and there were coffee strains on the comforter and night stand. The bed was firm, sheets were scratchy and pillows obnoxiously overstuffed. If you are traveling for business you will NOT be able to work if you require a connection. This is such a problem that I am cutting my trip short by a day. We have stayed in this hotel a couple of times and each time we had the same opinion. Nice location, accessible to the bridges and tunnels over to the Mayo Clinic, but seems a little dated and in need of some love. The staff is always pleasant and helpful and the rooms are clean, but better sheets, cleaner furniture and a coat of paint would go a long way to making it a bit brighter and more welcoming.

We made use of the Holiday Inn Rochester Downtown for a recent show at the Mayo Civic Center. First, the good news: the hotel is conveniently connected by skywalk to the civic center, so you won't have to worry about rain, sleet, snow or even gloom of night.
