Staff was quick and friendly to get me checked in. The room was clean and tea and coffee in the room was lovely to have. Did not use the fridge or microwave, but very nice additions to have. The bed was perfectly comfy.

We had a great experience. We were there for a basketball tournament and the staff was so professional and helpful. They told us where to eat dinner in the area and told us we were better walking instead of trying to find a place to park because it was only 1 block away. Told us about laundry facilities at the hotel and even had a tide pod for me to use. Great rooms, very comfortable beds and clean even with the hotel completely full the night we stayed. Great work

The general manager Angela was very rude and certainly didn't have the attitude of good customer service. She had made several mistakes in our booking and then wouldn't honor the price quoted. She said she has been there a long time and doesn't make mistakes. We did not stay there and will not stay there ever. I told her she would be hearing from us and she responded she didn't care it all comes to her anyway. I'm sure she would just conveniently file it. I hope her boss reads this as we ... Read more

The lobby has been updated and makes the property look good. The room we stayed in was not of the same quality one would expect of this brand and the rate charged. The floor under the sink got wet when we used the sink, and the bathroom wall looked beat up. The bed had been made up sloppily. The property is not as shiny and bright as it should be at this price point.

Perfect location for Carleton or St. Olaf. Clean and quiet, and a well balanced breakfast selection. We had no issues or problems, checked in, slept well, ate breakfast, and moved on ready for the day.

We frequently book this hotel when going to Northfield for events at our son's college, St. Olaf. It is only a few minutes from the campus of either college (Carleton College is also in town). The hotel is also very convenient to downtown Northfield, with its restaurants and quaint shopping district. Caution: There is no elevator in the building, making it difficult for my mother to get her suitcase up to her room on a previous stay (she is 74 and in reasonably good shape, but it would be hard f... With relatives living in the neighborhood, we've had the opportunity to stay at all of the Northfield motels along Highway 3 while visiting over the past decade. While the other motels were adequate, none comes close to the high quality of the Country Inn in terms of hospitality and accommodations. Our first visit to the Country Inn was last summer. Based on the gradually declining quality of the other motels along Highway 3 over the past few years, we decided to give the Country Inn a try. Even... Read more

We were staying in Northfield for a family graduation event. We called & checked about late check-in: no problem. But when we got to our room late that evening, the floor was wet on one side of the bed, without obvious cause. I asked for another room, but they were full. The receptionist did arrange for us to get lots of bath mats, which by morning were quite damp, and she arranged for about 1/3 of the bill to be removed. Other comments: Bed okay. Wi-fi worked fine. No nightlight in the bathroom... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for a wedding. The woman who checked us in was wonderful. We chatted over how we both work in hotels. We got into the room no problem. There were a few stains on the floor and on the to sheet. I didn't mind, I work in a hotel and know that stains happen. However that night when we came back our key wasn't working. I had to go back and forth from my room and the desk 4 or 5 times before the keys would work. I had to clean the key hole and it still wasn't working. When I lef... Read more

Very nice. Totally full but never seemed crowded. Breakfast so-so; don't wait too long because the food is not replenished if it's within 30 minutes of ending. Room clean, cool, and comfortable. Bathroom clean and modern, but trashcan had mold and grime on it. YUCK.

Paper thin walls. Freight train line behind hotel woke me up several times a night. A/C malfunctioned. Sheets and towels were awful. Mattresses had to be 10 years old. Had to pre-pay 3 night minimum a month in advance. NOISY! stay away!

We stayed in a suite, which was very nice. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were helpful. But the inn is situated adjacent to railroad tracks, and whistles during the night from multiple passing trains resulted in a poor night's sleep. If you live adjacent to a railtoad crossing or a fire station, this might not be a problem, but we don't.

With kids at both colleges I've had many opportunities to stay in Northfield. Country Inn is my go-to because of the friendly staff and terriffic location. It's easy to walk to either college and downtown (good coffee, restaurants, pubs, shops, etc). Onsite parking is ample and convenient. I usually request front side to block train noise, but some in my family love the trains.

Rude staff! Terrible amenities. Breakfast was awful!! Not sure how this hotel gets to use the chain name. Not up to the usual standards. I would not recommend it to anyone. I can't think of anything positive to say.

The only problem with this place is it's location next to the train tracks. We had rooms on the other side, and slept soundly. The beds were very comfy! Clean, good breakfast and helpful staff. Microwave and fridge in room. Coffee was weak but Caribou is literally across a small street. Also limited hanging space and only one short towel bar in bathroom.

We have stayed here many times. For the most part it is a good hotel with a good location in town (aside from when the train goes by). On this trip I 'slept' on the pull out sofa bed in the king suite. This mattress is in definite need of an up upgrade. The entire night I felt the metal coils running through the mattress. They had replaced the toilet but had neglected to bolt it to the floor. We will continue to stay there when we are in town, however it would be nice if someone put attenti... Read more

Northfield offers a scenic setting that would be great for those seeking a weekend getaway. There are many summer and fall weekend activities. A bike ride through this are would be great. The Malt-O-Meal factory would be interesting to tour. Of course, there is also the hometown University. This is a great small community. The hotel is centrally located and offers a good value - comfortable, with a friendly staff.

It's not that the place is *SO* bad, it's that it's *WAY* overpriced for how bad it is. At over $300 for a 2-night stay, I'd expect a room with a bathroom that is bigger than a closet, comfy beds, a TV that works, and no musty smell. Our first odor of business when we checked in was to walk to the nearby Walgreen's for air fresheners. There's not even a fan in the bathroom. The pool was suspect and we ended up not swimming. Breakfast was a laughable wonder-bread french toast and burnt eggs.... Read more

My husband and I always book a suite when visiting my son in Northfield. We have always been satisfied with our stay. The suites are comfortable and the breakfast is a nice start to our day. We have both refrigerator and microwave in room. Parking is very convenient.

This place needs help. A "good" wayside place to stay but for the price, very inadequate. Dirty floors and carpets and overall unattractive property. TV with "shadow box" appearance as they are not at all up to latest technology. Luckily only stayed one night and was so tired I couldn't be bothered to argue. I was good that I was so tired because the beds were even worse (and need to be replaced).

Excellent value for what we paid for the King Suite! This is our new favorite hotel! The suite was very large and had French doors between the bedroom and living area with a sleeper-sofa. The shower was luxurious.

We have stayed at many Country Inn & Suites and they all have the same "corporate" look. This one was completely different. Generally there is a large open lobby area. The lobby of this hotel was quite small and the breakfast area was cramped. The room was clean and large but the bathroom was very small! I knew we had a problem when I saw the two packages of ear plugs on the night stand. As I picked them up, a train went through. The train track is literally next door. I was ple... Read more

The place has an odor, can't describe it let's just say it isn't pleasant. The Chamber Maids do an excellent job with the rooms, but the whole place needs a deep deep cleaning. The beds are old worn out and the bedding just as old. The carpeting is dirty and full of stains, nooks and crannies look like they haven't been cleaned in a very long time. The staff was helpful without being friendly, kind of dismissive and disinterested. The breakfast, being the standard hotel breakfast was lacking. Th... Read more

This hotel was very clean, the beds were comfortable and it was close to my sons school. It is a basics hotel. No frills, no thrills, but it has what you need to sleep well and it is central to everything in Northfield.
