The room was clean BUT the sheets were thread bare and had blood stains. The bed was old and uncomfortable and the pillows were old and flat and like sleeping on no pillow... TV was from 1990 and the picture and sound were terrible... the towels were thread bare and the water pressure was bad ... Shower water came out black and tub was dirty.... the front desk said it was the town's fault and to just run water ... I ran water for 10 minutes and it cleared up but tube was full of black gr... I really like this hotel. I stay there every time I visit my daughter at St. Olaf. It is a bit dated, but the rooms are pretty clean and it is convenient to campus. I like that it is well below the cost of the other hotels in the area. The staff is friendly, and it is fine. The breakfast is minimal, but it is right across the street from a Perkins. I highly recommend staying here for a nice, cheap stay.

This a good hotel if you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay. The staff was friendly, the check in was fast. The room and sheets were clean. Water pressure was good with no odor. The bed was a little hard but I think most hotels are. I did not pay attention when I was booking and didn't notice it was a single queen bed but that was my fault. This hotel does not have a pool, a couple websites list that it has one. This hotel was exactly what I wanted, a place cheap, clean place I ... Read more

We love this location. The rooms are clean and neat, Breakfast is good. We stay here about once a year. prices are good. The staff and owners are friendly and we enjoy seeing them as much as we do family.

Not a bad hotel, relatively cheap, and allows pets which was nice because we had two dogs with us. The breakfast was just okay, the hotel was clean, staff was friendly-- not bad for just a few nights. My biggest complaint was that the beds were pretty uncomfortable/hard.. Would be nice if they attempted to update them.

The staff were very friendly, and the location was great. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable hotel bed that I have slept in! Breakfast was ok,I will stay else where unless I had no other choice.

We were in town for a graduation and if anyone is familiar with Northfield, there is not alot of offerings when it comes to lodging. The place is clean and run by Bernie and his wife. Our room was nice, clean, and air condition. The breakfast was good with lots of offerings.

While attending a Carlton College Reunion, we got the last room in town--happened to be at the America's Best Value Inn. The staff are friendly and accomodating, the rooms are clean. The complimentary breakfast is your basic waffles, juice and hard-boiled eggs. Nothing special, but no problems.

When we arrived our rooms were done, Our daughter and boys came with us, we had separate rooms, My daughters room was good. Our room had a musty smell in it, so we turned the A/C on figuring it would take care of the smell. After our wedding reception we returned to the hotel, and walked into our room and the smell was still there but not as bad. My Wife had a terrible night of sleep because of the poor bed quality and the smell. Mine was okay, Our daughters room was completely opposite. Her and... Read more

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room and hotel was clean and from the reviews better than anticipated. Breakfast was as expected for being a budget hotel. Our AC worked fine. We would stay again if we were in the area.

We paid over $100 for a room and when we walked in, the lobby smelled like cleaning solution, which was how it smelled, consistently throughout the day and night we were there. The room itself was adequate, but minimal. There is only one curtain on the window, so there is no way to let in light, but have privacy, and the AC blows the curtain up when it's closed. The breakfast was minimal as well, and all of the bread was wrapped in individual plastic pieces, which was a bit creepy. There was... Read more

Reserved a room one month before the event & received an email confirmation. I handed them the confirmation as I checked in. They had no record of my reservation even with my confirmation in their hands! Motel was filled, no help with finding another hotel, & no apology. I told them I didn't want to be charged for the room. Manager wouldn't be in until 4 days later at which time I called. He couldn't find my reservation so I sent him a copy & told him I didn't want to be charged. Oh no I wo... Read more

The lobby and entire first floor had a horrible smell -- something along the lines of sewer and rotten food. Actually nauseating. We stayed on the second floor. Although the smell didn't rise to the second floor, the room was pretty bad. Threadbare blankets, old mattresses, no screen on the window... need I go on? Never again!!!

The room was one of the worst I have ever stayed in. There was a brand new plug-in, which should have been the first clue. Overpowering mildew and mold smell once the plug-in was removed. There was mold in the room and bathroom. This hotel will not refund a reservation unless they "sell" your room. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
