Our sons attend the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and the Commons Hotel is located on campus making it very convenient. On a recent visit we inquired whether they allowed dogs. Typically the response from most hotels is a moment of silence and a halting 'yes'. The Commons encourages visitors with pets. They have a dog package that includes: a dog bed, water and food bowls, a pet room service menu (yes, you read that correctly) and if you happen to be away from the room for an extended per... Superb concierge, valet parking. Restaurant very accomodating. Check in, go to restaurant, order food to go; take bags to room, settle in, head downstairs, food will be ready! Best mini-fridge ever! Water bottles froze! Excellent, large Starbucks off lobby. Lots of cozy seating areas. Rooms are quiet, clean; excellent linens, pillows; mattresses perfect. Bathrooms have excellent shampoo, soap; water is hot with great pressure. Clean, well-kept. Lighting is natural, lots of counter space. 6t... Read more

Our stay at The Commons Hotel was outstanding. The staff was excellent as well as the rooms and restaurant. The only disappointment was the food at our daughters reception. It was nothing like what was presented at the food tasting.

I came here for an intensive 2-day work visit so my experience of the hotel was limited. But here goes... It's about 30 minutes from the airport and there are several ways to get to the hotel from the airport. You can go by super shuttle: this costs about $18 or by train which costs $1:75 or by taxi which costs over $50! There's always Uber as well. The hotel is nice, check in was smooth , very friendly and efficient associate. I was on the fourth floor and my view was a parking deck...The room ... Read more

Reservations staff helped me get a great rate, and the staff on-site helped me figure out everything from booking group transportation and getting our rooms all close together. Did not stay in hotel, came for business conference. First impression of lobby- rugged western, dark, not hip metropolitan that Minneapolis likes to portray itself but it was fine that way; I appreciate 'different' and not being like all the others. All three days the podium at the entrance was staffed early in the morning. First day around 5pm, the person was out along the front drive sweeping the sidewalk. Great location for people touring University of Minnesota. It is right in the middle of campus located near several restaurants. It has a Starbucks attached. Well maintained and clean. We reserved two rooms here for two adults and two kids for one night as we passed through on way to Champaign, Illinois. The beds were comfortable and the room was pleasantly lit with the capacity to open the window to let in fresh air. The room service was excellent as my kids joyfully ate a bowl of chili and fish and chips while watching the Olympics. I used the workout room in the morning and it was well appointed. We had a simple, but delicious breakfast of toast, fresh jam and poached eggs ... Read more

The Commons hotel provides excellent rooms for reasonable prices. The location in Dinkytown is great if you ar visiting the University but nit ideal for other travelers as the eateries and cafes close by cater to student tastes. But luckily there is an excellent restaurant in the hotel for people looking for something more than chicken wings or generic budget food. The rooms are very nicely done - plain but comfortable - and the facilities are spacious and welcoming. We found the staff to be ext... Read more

This is a full-service hotel right on the East bank campus of the University of Minnesota. Quiet, clean, spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Friendly helpful staff. The only down side is the carpeting in the hallways: badly stained and torn. Hotel has its own restaurant and is connected to an Applebee's and a Starbucks, with many restaurants and shops in the adjacent neighborhood. Light rail station less than a block away. Somewhat pricey, but worth the price. Self parking and valet par... Read more

Today we held out first ever back to school vendor fair for MN Marketplace. This is our first time at this venue and hopefully will not be our last. We normally have held our events in the dingy basement of a local bar. Today we had the privilege of using The Commons spacious and airy Pinnacle Ballroom. My experience with the staff and venue was more than extraordinary. I knew we would have a good experience but didn't expect all the special attention we were given. From the time we booked... Our group organizes vending events in the Twin Cities. It can be a frustrating, anxiety inducing affair. Nick Gundlach at the Commons Hotel in Minneapolis made it a breeze. The room was setup to perfection. Whatever we needed,Nick took care of it. Highly recommend this venue and look forward to working with Nick again.

Attended a vendor fair at The Commons this past weekend. What a great venue. Accessiblity was just great, parked in the ramp and it was right there, it was also handicap accessible. The staff was also amazing. We had Nick helping us out and he made sure that things were running smoothly and that the vendors had what they needed. Kudos to Nick and the Commons Hotel for an excellent experience!

Recently was in attendance at a Marketplace event and it was quite a refreshing experience compared to the usual spaces that this event is held. Even though parking was a tad tricky it was still worth it. Nick (who was on the banquet floor) was so helpful at showing myself and a few other lost patrons in the right direction to the event room. I hope this event is held here again in the future! Beautiful hotel and a really fun event!

Stay 8 days at Commons Hotel with family , front dest staffs was friendly , Beacon Restaurant was good. Housekeeping was not profession, room always short of towel and toilet paper, they even forgot to clean the garbage bin and they need to provide more smile to customers, I would stay there again because my son was study at U of M and Commons was inside the campus.

If you want to be able to sleep, make sure your room isn't directly across from the ice machine! Also had some trouble getting served in the hotel restaurant - sat for a long time with no one coming to our table. VIP room was nice though.

Very nice, clean, hotel in Stadium Village. Great location for visiting the U. Good parking (but they charge) and nice to have a Starbucks downstairs. Right by the light rail. Staff very attentive but sometimes only one person at the desk when they could use 2. Enjoyed our stay. A bit pricey, but worth the quality and convenience of the hotel.

Stayed here for a wedding at the McNamara Alumni Center....I'm always curious about hotels that are more expensive and don't have pools, free breakfast etc but other hotels do. BUT, the hotel was nice and I would stay again if the need arose to be in the Univ neighborhood. They did have free wifi thank goodness. We had breakfast at the restaurant attached and though spendy was very good and our waitress was great because we had people from various parts of the wedding party, family, bride and g... Read more

My child is a junior at the U of MN and the Commons is just so convenient that I always check their prices. 90% of the time their rates are just too high. Sunday of Labor Day weekend we stumbled upon a reasonable rate. Still $25 more than a less convenient spot we often stay at but affordable enough to be a reasonable splurge. Check in was pleasant enough. Surface, self-park was $15. Entrances from the parking area were not convenient. Only two elevators were available so it was good it w... Read more

nice location - close to bike paths. Great restaurant with delicious breakfast and helpful manager. Beds comfy. Loved the keurig coffee machine and the huge shower rain-head things. Recommend the breakfast at the restaurant. They even had coloring in activities for the kids too. Nice looking restaurant also.

My husband and I booked this hotel for a night in Minneapolis alone while we were visiting family. We booked on hotwire so we weren't sure what we were getting and I was a little disappointed when I found out it was a hotel on a university campus. BUT I was absolutely blown away. The hotel decor was excellent and service was friendly. There was an LRT close by that we took downtown. Would definitely recommend.

This is a pricey hotel in a great location. The outside and lobby are in great shape and appears to reflect the high price they command but then you go to your room. The hallway carpet was in horrible shape, very ratty and worn. Our room was clearly updated but it looked to be a rushed job....carpet wasn't trimmed correctly so "strings" on the edges were obvious. The painting had spots that they missed. Room was clean and comfortable...but I would expect that for the cost of the room. The ... Read more

My room was quiet, clean and very comfortable. I do wish the shower head was more flexible and a little taller. The Beacon restaurant had great Eggs Benedict. This was the second time I have had them and they are some of the best I have had. I have stayed here twice now. It is a very nice hotel that is very quiet considering how close to the U of M it is. I would highly recommend it.

I stayed at the Commons Hotel because I was attending a conference at the University of Minnesota. The hotel was hosting a wedding that lasted until 1 AM, with extremely loud music (particularly the bass) that made it impossible to sleep. When I called the front desk to complain about the music, they had no idea when the event was ending and kept telling me "it was winding down soon." Other attendees of the conference also complained of their sleep being disrupted by the music. I have never ... Read more

We reserved a block of rooms here for our wedding. There were a couple of hiccups initially but the coordinator was on top of it and fixed the issue we had right away. We stayed in the VIP suite which was extremely spacious, well appointed, and clean. The front desk staff was very helpful with any questions that our guests had.
