Stayed here the night before heading over to Mackinac Island to celebrate our anniversary and the place where I proposed to my wife. Room was clean and comfortable with a great view of the lake. Breakfast in the morning was really good and kept well stocked. Conveniently located with only a short drive to the ferries.

We arrived late one evening because we called for directions and the girl at the desk gave us the wrong directions and we drove around for over an hour. They do not have automatic doors and trying to get our luggage inside was a problem. The two girls at the desk had their feet up on the counter (I don't think one of them worked there). We asked for help because my husband is disabled and uses a walker and I have a bad back. They would not get their feet off the counter to even open the door... Read more

I have worked for Holiday Inn for 25 years and have stayed at many Holiday Inn properties. While I have been to fancier ones, this is by far the homiest one I have stayed at. I had a top floor room with a little balcony that had a great view of Mackinac Island. The room was clean and very pleasant, the breakfast was warm and tasty, and the hot tub was relaxing. My only complaint was that I was met with a check-in that was indifferent at best.

This hotel was great. We had a beautiful view of the lake. Room was clean. All employees welcomed us and we very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Didn't use the pool so I can't comment on it but it looked nice. Definitely a place I'll stay at again when traveling to that part of the state again

Everything about this was very good. It was a quiet setting with comfortable bed and pillows. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast in the morning was filling and satisfying. The entire town was just starting up after being closed for the winter.

My dad and I stayed here on our first stop as we traveled across to Alberta. Were very pleased at how new the hotel was, and had a great balcony and water view. We struggled on check in, as the concierge booked us on the 2nd, then 3rd floor, then back to 2nd, misunderstanding that we wanted a quiet room with easy access. We were placed on the 2nd (which is the ground level) floor right next to the vending and ice machine. The AC was either blasting cold or nonexistent and we had to unplug the ... Read more

A two day stay here was simply heavenly ! The staff is very friendly, and the rooms immaculate. You melt right into the bed and comfy pillows !!!! The view of the lake was peaceful and loved the sound of gulls in the morning, and the water lapping the shoreline. This was a family gathering of 6 and they had a really nice area in the lobby where we could chat and play cards. The breakfast is generous and fun!

I had an issue and ended up calling customer service. They put me in touch with the manager, who informed the that because I called corporate they were fined $150. He also told me the owner banned me from this property and I cannot stay there again. I am heartbroken.

We had a very lovely room with a view of the beach/lake. It was quiet even though there were two bus-loads also staying. Breakfast was very nice, and even with the buses, food was abundant, breakfast room was large and we never saw anyone searching for a seat.

Overall clean, overall well staffed, the rooms are quite adequate, but the place just seems a little "rough" The first thing you see upon arrival is weeds growing up throughout the property, and the second thing you see is the paint peeling off of the main entry door handle. I could fix that place up in a week, by myself. Minor problems for sure, but just because it's one of the nicest places in St Ignace, doesn't mean you couldn't go one step further and detail the place.

We spent the night here on our way up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This was a very clean and comfortable hotel. The view we had on the lakeside was well worth the extra price. The St. Ignace side of the bridge seems quieter and less hectic and do did this hotel. The only negative was that the breakfast selection was subpar for a Holiday Inn Express

Stayed at hotel. Room was ok, besides the tear in carpet in front of the sink. Unbeknownst to me sticking up from the tear was a nail. I caught my bear foot on the nail, tearing a gash in the bottom of my foot. Asked for manager to call me, thought maybe he should know about it, and I probably deserved a apology. 2 days no call back. Stayed here for our anniversary. The hotel was clean and the bed comfortable. The usual breakfast at Holiday Inns was ok. It was warm and humid and so were the breakfast area and hallways, apparently they were not air conditioned. The room air conditioner worked very well keeping the room comfortable. The room was not laid out very logical as lamps were placed were no electrical outlet was near enough to plug it in, hence they didn't work. All in all it was a Holiday Inn.

We arrived here as a stopover on our way home from Mackinac Island, and it started rough. Check in was incredibly slow. Oh well, stuff happens. Then we go up to the room and unpack. We were on the fourth floor with an amazing view of the lake, and Mackinac Island. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom however was not so great. The hotel was all right but the view was amazing. We slept with the door open so we could listen to the waves all night and it was lovely until the seagulls started shrieking. Breakfast is not pleasant. VERY crowded and the staff attending it was totally overwhelmed. They struggled to keep up with the food, coffee and cleaning. We spent a night there and had a mix-up. I originally booked 2 rooms, but cancelled one when our friends were unable to come - however, the cancellation was not in the computer. Prices here are very high in the summer, so it was an issue. The front desk clerk, who rolled her eyes and said the mistake was obviously mine, was very unpleasant. This was the most money I paid for any room during my trip through Michigan. The breakfast and the people in the morning were good. I was assigned to a room that was on the first floor but it is really a lower level (basement feeling?) I had trouble with the door upon arrival and I insisted on being changed to another room. Although my request was filled, it was not done graciously.

Overall a decent place to stay. Breakfast was chaotic and not kept up with the amount of people staying there. We opted out both mornings because of the lack of food and choices that were there. Couldn't use our balconey because of a bee/hornet issue. Meh overall......not impressed.

We had a water view room that looked out to Mackinac Island. The room was larger than most hotels with a nice balcony to hang out and relax looking at the water and the island. Good breakfast with many choices, nice pool and hot tub. Just a mile drive to ferry docks with much smaller crowds than Mackinaw City.

During the summer, you will pay quite a bit for this hotel room. Our basic room for a Monday night in August came to almost $200 including the taxes. Since this is just like any other Holiday Inn Express that is quite a bit. However, there are so few decent hotels in the UP that this price is kind of reasonable. Regarding location, of course Mackinac Island is a short ferry ride away, but most of the best UP locations are a decent drive. Munising and Puctured Rocks is about a 2 hour drive. ... Read more

The hotel is a bit worn - carpets are stained and the bathroom door was swollen, probably from the heat and moisture. The biggest criticism was not related to management but to the architects layout of the breakfast area. Having tables so close to the buffet line was a bit awkward. It was hard to regulate the air and the initial housekeeping was not stellar...but still, rather small complaints when compared to the good points - a decent value for the area. It's actually easier to visit Mackinaw Island from St. Ignace, Michigan vs. Mackinaw City as it's closer to the the docks of the three (3) ferry companies (Star, Arnold's & Shepler's) It's about a 20 minute trip and considerably less expensive than staying on the Island. Typical Holiday Inn Express with fantastic views and a very nice beach in front. Many places to eat near the hotel. Crossing the five mile bridge is a $4.00 amazing experience.....
