This was the first time that I've stayed at this Embassy Suites. Rooms were very clean, staff was friendly and attentive. The managers reception and breakfast are definitely a plus. Wifi was extremely slow but otherwise this was the perfect location for my trip.

We chose this hotel because it was near a family event. They are undergoing renovation and it is needed. Only one of three elevators was working and the toilet in our suite was leaking. The parking lot has some major craters as well. The staff were uniformly very nice and helpful. We will probably choose another Hilton location the next time we visit the family.

The hotel lobby is dirty. The carpets in the lobby are solid and torn. The 2 of the three elevators don't work. The hotel signs say under construction but the guest say that this has been going on for 2 years and they have not seen any improvements. The carpets in the rooms are torn and soiled. the breakfast cold breakfast food was stale. Has to ask for coffee. Had to ask for salt and pepper. I was told that they don't put these out as they get taken.

I enjoyed the Embassy Suites of Southfield. The staff are very attentive and they run the manager's reception with the goal of making you happy. The hotel really has gone through a lot of updates (some still in process). New tile and paint is everywhere, as well as fresh carpet and modern furniture. The downside is - a lot of these updates are cosmetic and they didn't do a good job of hiding some things. My bathroom door had two different handles on each side. There was still painter's tape ... Embassy Suites has been my first choice for 20+ years whenever I travel, and the Southfield location is one of the best I've experienced. Newly renovated, with a very pleasant atrium -- Embassy Suites has modernized their decor by removing much of the 'greenery' (plants, trees, fountains) at most locations in recent years, which disappoints me, but the Southfield location just added a waterfall behind the bar, which provides a peaceful ambiance to the lobby/atrium. But where this location re... Read more

Hotel maintenance was not up to par. Not all elevators were working, some rooms did not have A/C, room was not properly cleaned/maintained every day, not all TV channels worked. Staff tried to fix issues - front desk man did check that new room we were assigned had A/C. Breakfast was good but they ran out of trays every morning. We have stayed here many times before but this stay was below par in terms of hotel maintenance.

When I first got to this hotel, I really enjoyed the lobby. They did a great job. The rooms were also decent but we had to switch rooms because the air conditioning wasnt working. Also the elevators were terrible. One of the were working and not even all the time. The pool was also disgusting. We went down there and then a whack of kids took over. We were told by a maintenance man that the locals come take over the pool. That is very inappropriate since I paid for my stay. Also we found loose ha... Read more

Stayed here for 2 nights recently and was pleased with the overall upgrades. However, you could tell that some of the upgrades were not high quality which makes me wonder what this hotel would have been like before the reno. Be ready for road noise as it's near a major freeway. Can't beat the made to order breakfast or the evening reception (which includes up to 3 drinks from the bar). We liked the location as it was easy access to The Henry Ford and many eateries.

A power outage had this hotel in total chaos. One of my worse experiences ever. Hotels need to train their staff on how to react and still provide good customer service during a disaster. It took over 2.5 hrs to get a room. Amenities they are known for such as their "Manager's Reception" was sorely lacking in snacks and choice of beverages. The restaurant should have been fully operationable but it was not. It was a hotel nightmare experience!!

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms were in disrepair. The elevators weren't working. The stairwells (that we had to take) were filthy. The food was unpalatable. Internet was slow. TVs were 20th century and really bad. I ended up watching Netflix on my small iPad. Staff did their best but were obviously stressed with all the issues.

The hotel lobby is nice and has been recently remodeled. They also have remodeled most of the rooms but they all still need work. My recent stay put me in a handicap accessible room. I did not request this. The room had a wheelchair accessible shower with no shower curtain. The bathroom light flashed every 10 seconds when turned off which became a nuisance during the night. The TV did not work well...many of the stations had very poor quality picture. The HVAC system did not work. Of the... Read more

This hotel was a disaster. Check in took 30 minutes and 2 of the 3 elevators did not work at all during our stay, the 3rd was problematic. Guests were directed to the service elevator and the service stairwell. The staff was apologetic and genuinely tried to help and resolve what they could but the problems where simply too much for them to handle. I felt bad for the staff but the hotel is not worthy of the Hilton Flag.

I tried to be patient with them under new management, during their remodel etc etc. But each stay has been progressively worse. The elevators consistently do not work. The trip this week was the worst ever. They recommended we use the service elevator since the main elevator kept trapping people. The service elevator was just an unreliable. The staff at this location deserves raises. They took the very legitimate customer anger and dissatisfaction with the utmost professionalism and kindness, however, the owner of this hotel should have their franchise pulled. One elevator was in service some of the time. Sometimes neither it nor the service elevator worked. I had to have my key cards reset three times in 5 days. Broken Elevators ... 4 of them ... Yes even the service elevator. I got stuck on the elevator my first day, after no response from front desk when I used the elevator phone, two of us pried the doors open and went to the desk for help they could not be bothered. Although the staff at the desk that time was a bad experience it is clearly the ownership that is letting this hotel turn into a dump!

We were advised to use the service elevator, well, that did not work either... The pool area was a joke. The moldy stench was disgusting, not to mention the hot tub was in process of being serviced. This hotel is not worth the money you will pay. I love Embassy Suites, but this particular location was poor at best. National needs to audit this place and bring it up to the standards that ES customers are accustomed to. Room service was missed the first day.
