This appears to be an older property away from the town center that has undergone some recent renovations. Hampton Inns are known for the comfort of their beds and bedding, so much so that you can buy them online direct from Hampton for use at home. Our king size mattress in room 313 was one of the most uncomfortable we have ever encountered anywhere! It was shot and had a valley in it that caused you to lie with a tilt towards the center, not flat on your back. Mentioned this to the front desk ... Read more

Ok stay overall but no refrigerator nor microwave. Hot tub jets not working properly. Nice breakfast staff and cleaning crew did a good job. Typical Hampton Inn experience which is good. Have stayed here before and would again. Great ice cream across the street. Do not miss that but long lines

Room was dirty they were short staffed but friendly and filled our request when needed. Was overpriced for what we got. We would go again but would check the room first. Was much better than the place we stayed at the last time we were in South Haven. Pool wasn't open past 9 which was a downfall. Excercise room was a total joke.

And the breakfast in the morning was great...a good veriety, the workers kept it nice and clean and stocked.

As someone who has respected the Hampton Inn chain as a quality hotel I am shocked that you would hire a 10 year old to remodel your bathrooms! I have pictures of wallpaper not cut at the bottom and hanging two inches over the tile. Wallpaper seems with huge gaps. The kid must have been a lefty because in the few areas the wallpaper was cut it looks like a lefty cut it using a righty scissors. A door frame that is half painted. A sliding barn door replaces a standard door which is kind of cool e... Read more

The hotel is very convenient to downtown South Haven. I have stayed at several Hampton Inns and this one is fairly typical. Our room was clean and newly remodeled. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom has a sliding door that is attached to a top rail. The door tended to swing back and forth and bang on the sides (a little annoying, but not a problem). The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was typical Hampton Inn food, but it was prepared really well. The eggs were moist and the po... Read more

If you're alone, it is not a problem. Beds were full size rather than queen (as advertised). So if you are rather large not petite, ( as most of us are ) for 3 or 4 people get 2 rooms with 2 beds per room.

The bed in our room was broken, sloping completely to one side. When I brought this to the attention of the staff they simply informed me that they were fully booked and could not change our rooms. I ended up spending an incredible uncomfortable night in a bed I paid $200 for! Very disappointed!

I highly recommend this hotel. Breakfast is provided daily and includes healthy options like fresh fruit and oatmeal. The staff are courteous and helpful. The rooms and general areas are very clean and the hotel has recently been renovated. Beds are comfortable and you can request a room with a fridge. Unfortunately, there are no microwaves in the rooms. The hot tub and pool are nice. The workout area is small but includes enough equipment to get in a workout. The location of the hotel i... We stayed at the South Haven Hampton Inn for a weekend to visit the rest of the family at Van Buren State Park were they were camping and browse around town a bit on Sunday. Everything was great. It had the best deal price wise for the area. Got it by calling direct to the hotel. But everything in South Haven in the summer is jacked up in prices. Except for the family campout, I wouldn't visit the area in the summer. Best to come just before memorial day when prices are 1/2 what they are after J... Read more

We look to stay in Hampton Inns because of all the little extras they provide and their welcoming decor. This hotel was able to accomodate us because they said they had just had a cancellation. The room was clean and the common areas just as much.

This was just the worst experience with the mattress in such bad shape that it kept sucking us to the middle as if a 600 pound person broke it before us. It was not at all comfortable being hard on the outside 6 inches and way to smush factor in the middle. The Barn door stuck trying to close it for bathroom use was annoying. The best part of our stay was the bed. The breakfast was terrible! I stay at a lot of Hampton Inns and know all the quirks of these hotels. This one isn't bad but like almost all Hampton Inns, they seem to be stuck in perpetual upgrade mode. Half of the furniture in our room is upgraded contemporary (love all the USB and outlets!) but the other half is still the old drab colonial. Just the way the Hamptons are. Our room was very well laid out for a wheelchair user. Everything from the size of the bathroom to the frame of the bed being open to allow using a lift to get in and out of bed.
