Motel is just across the street on two sides from parks with awesome views of the bridge and island. I took my daughter as a spur-of-the-moment cheer-up trip after the death of a family friend. I was just looking for something cheap with decent reviews. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The pool was already closed for the season, so I couldn't tell you the condition of it. The rooms could use some updating, but they were clean; no smells or signs of bugs. The mattresses could have be... Read more

My wife and I couldn't have been more pleased with this charming, quaint and ideally located motel. The hosts are super people and paid attention to every detail. Some of the rooms are themed. We were in the Midsummers Night's Dream room, complete with a beautiful chandelier. In the evening they offer a complementary wine and cheese hour as well as a light breakfast with fresh coffee in the morning. This is a great value for the money. The hotel was clean, nice pool and beautiful scenery of the Mackinac bridge and the landscaping of the hotel was beautiful. Not much of a breakfast so be prepared to eat out. But overall it was a nice stay and nice hotel.

Each room is unique. The friendly service is excellent. Expanded continental breakfast. Wish we could have stayed longer!. Will definitely go back. There is a view of Lake Huron from the rooms and a nice park across the street. Easy walk to down town.

Situated right across the street from historic Mackinac lighthouse and fort Mackinac. Room was nice and very clean Bathroom was small. Owners were friendly and helpful. Expanded continental breakfast included cereal, yogurt, toast, bagels, canned mandarin oranges, and more. Beautiful flowers in landscaping. Heated pool BTW Got cheaper rate by calling them direct than on Internet prices

My wife, son and I were there for 2 nights on June 10th and 11th/16. Great location if you want to take the ferry to Mackinac Island. It is a 5 minute walk to the ferries or the inn does provide a free shuttle to there as well. The room we had was small but very clean and comfortable. We were on the first floor of a 2 story inn. You could hear the people above us when they were walking in their room but I am a sound sleeper so it was no bother for me. In the morning the provide a continental bre... Read more

This is a classy place to stay. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are nicely appointed and very clean. The landscaping is spectacular. The location is ideal for being in Mackinaw City - close to the downtown and across from a park that overlooks the big suspension bridge. When I checked in, Bill was very helpful in making arrangements for my trip to Mackinac Island. I truly enjoyed my stay here!!!

We stayed here during a 2-week trip around Lake Michigan, where we had stayed exclusively in smaller family run motels. This one was well kept, clean, tidy and comfortable. The decor and style of the rooms wasn't to our particular taste, but that's just us. This was the only motel we stayed in during our trip that didn't have a coffee maker, fridge and microwave in the room, which did cause some issues for us, but again we won't mark down for this as this may not be an issue for other people... This is a small family-owned hotel. The rooms were clean and well-organised and the beds comfortable. There's a pool but didn't use it. It's well located for the bridge and the boats/downtown amenities. Breakfast was a bit disappointing though; a lot of very sweet food and not much savoury choice.

We were four sixty-something ladies on a Michigan road trip. American Boutique Inn had great accommodations and greatly accommodated us. Each room had a charming movie theme (ours was The Secret Garden) and more than enough of what you need for an overnight stay, including delivering breakfast to the room in a basket, at a specified time. There were snacks and wine for happy hour when we arrived--perfect for our group! Bill, the owner, was more than gracious and accommodating when we ran a ... Read more

lets be honest - Mackinaw City doesn't have any upscale hotels, and you don't visit Mackinaw City so that you can spend all day in the City. You get on a ferry and spend all day on Mackinac Island, so you sleep, maybe eat, in Mackinaw City. There are a fair number of average hotels here, some are not up to standards. What I liked about American Boutique is that it delivers what it promises - very clean rooms and reasonable rates. It's dated, and it is not fancy, but it's well cared for and c... Read more

We had two lovely rooms in this small "hotel". The view on the lake was good and to get downtown might take 5 minutes. The service is friendly, and they even have a breakfast service because the breakfast room is small and can be crowed. Therefore the service is a good idea!

This place is super cute and comfy! There are several themed rooms although we stayed in a regular with 2 double beds. The outdoor pool was perfect! It was perfect temperature and we enjoyed the time playing with our kids there. The owner did allow us to use the pool after check out (check out is early at 10:30) so we appreciated that however there wasn't anyplace close to use a bathroom or change which was a bit challenging with two little ones. We had two rooms. Rooms where clean. Room size is adequate, not to spacious but also not tiny. The shower and sink are separated and the shower is not very spacious. The beds are a bit to soft for me, but the rest of the family was very satisfied. The kids loved the outdoor pool, although I think it was a bit to much chlorine in use. The outside seating areas are great and the view to the lake also. To take a look at Mackinaw bridge (especially at night) is just a stone throw to walk and to ge... Read more

We stayed in two rooms here - we had a last minute booking and the owner was very helpful. The first room was on the bottom floor - had a musty - strong cleaner - odor. But the room was clean, had a decent view of pool and Lake Huron, and was ok for the price. We then moved to a themed room on the second floor - no smell :) - very clean, nice view. The owners seem like great people. I enjoyed the quiet, small, older hotel feel of this place. It brought back memories. Price was great. Outdoor poo... Read more

We stayed in one of the themed rooms for 3 night's and had a great time. The rooms are small but very nicely furnished with some cute touches. The breakfast was fairly typical for a continental breakfast--juice, coffee, bagels, cereal, cold hard boiled eggs, etc. The pool was very relaxing and refreshing. All of the employees we met were very helpful, and the location was perfect, across the street from a park with a lovely view of the Mackinac Bridge.

We booked this little motel because of the reviews on trip advisor and weren't disappointed. The rooms are not huge but bigger than what I had at a motel before and absolute big enough to be comfortable. The beds are soft but comfortable to sleep. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The tub and toilet are separate from the sink and it is tight, but again ... Serves the purpose and is sufficient. The pool was great for the kids and 9' deep at one end!!! My wife and I stayed here 3 nights while visiting Mackinac Island and the area. The inn has about 16 rooms and is a well maintained 2 story, across the street from the lake. Very close to a lakeside park and a short scenic walk to the ferries (3 or 4 blocks). Rooms are very comfortable although the SF is tight. My wife and I were fine with the two double beds, but it would be quite tight with a child. The beds were very comfy! Also the pool was very clean and kept at a nice temperature. The... Read more

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We stayed in a themed room , "Room with a view"which was nicely decorated. The bed was very very comfortable. Memory foam I believe. Location is perfect. Across the street from park, and bridge. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Main Street. Beautiful grounds. Friendly owners. The only down side was that our room had a funny cleaning smell, seemed to be coming from air conditioner.

Nice spot with clean rooms and a simple breakfast near the ferry and shops. They let us leave our car in their parking lot for the day while we took the ferry to the island. For the price I don't think you can go wrong and we would happily stay there again.

We walked to town, the lighthouse, and fort Milimackinac. The pool is heated to 88 degrees, too! Our room was named Beach Party! We enjoyed nice furniture and decor picked especially for the room. The sink is outside the bathroom with a large mirror. Small, but fixed up with TLC. We also enjoyed the wine and cheese tasting!

The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was fine. They could use a security upgrade for their doors - no dead bolt, no chain, old standard keys. The air conditioner was running constantly, and I used ear plugs to muffle the noise. But it was a totally acceptable lodging place off of the island.

Trip Advisor and a personal recommendation brought us to the doors of this delightful boutique inn that has charm and personal touches from the friendly couple who have owned this for 35 years. We stayed in the themed room, Somewhere in Time, and it was the last room available. Their simple breakfasts and wine and cheese receptions are served in a very cute room that makes you feel at home. Stayed in many Hilton, Marriot and Miele hotels here and in Europe. Decided to stay based on the others positive reviews. This is not an inn, but a typical motel near the Lake--the title is misleading. The owners are unfriendly, unhappy people--in the middle of check-in they can easily forget about you while discussing their own problems. Room was extremely small and had a heavy smell; beds are not comfy with AC unit blowing right at one of them/possibly you. The pool is a size of 4 hot tubs. I... Read more

Coming here for us is like seeing friends (the owners) we haven't seen in a year and catching up along with some wonderful scenery and relaxation. Rooms are always very clean and tidy. I came up here Labor Day weekend, prices were a little high for what you get, but it was a holiday weekend. The location was great! Right across the the mackinaw bridge and you are able to walk across the street to the water(2 minutes), also in walking distance of the shopping strip(10-15 minutes). It's an older motel, which in some instances is quaint. Our room was on the second floor by the top of the stairs. The light outside our room 207 at night attracted mosquitoes all over the door, making it hard to get in without letting a dozen or so. But for every downside, the inn tries to make up with other features. This is the first motel/inn I've stayed at that provided a flyswatter. We would most definitely go back again and again! Clean, carefully decorated rooms! Not fancy but don't need that :) and the total price for two nights was $194!!! And the location was amazing!!!! Right across the street from a beautiful stretch of beach and the Big Mac Bridge! So very pretty. Took advantage of the free shuttle to Shepler's Ferry and the discount tickets sold at the motel. Lastly the owners are the sweetest, kindest people ever and made me feel so welcome!!!

Booked the hotel, sight unseen. We stayed in "A Summer Place" room. Each of the rooms are named after an old movie and are decorated accordingly. Our room had a poster from the movie including wicker chairs. Its an older hotel and the rooms are smaller than newer hotels but more than makes up for it in charm. Our last morning there we had breakfast delivered to our room. Coffee and bagels. A unexpected find.

Earlier this month, my wife and I traveled to Michigan to celebrate a family wedding. During our stay, we visited Mackinac Island and happened to stay at the American Boutique Inn in Mackinaw City.
