Wow, is what my husband and I continue to say! We called and cancelled our reservation in plenty of time. However, we were still charged for a night. $160 for not staying at a hotel and following their reservation policy. The manager, Ricky, is the most rude individual I have ever meet in a customer service industry. She called me a liar the first time I called. The second time she told my husband she had already spoken with me. He asked for the number of the owner in order to contact him... Read more

The Riverfront is a run down hotel, with a so so location. It's next to Rt. 131, a bit over 2 miles north of downtown. Positives: free wifi & parking. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Negatives: It's too far to walk to downtown Grand Rapids. While the hotel has a shuttle, it runs once every two hours, too infrequent to be useful. Instead of recommending a cab company, the hotel suggests guests open Uber accounts. None of this would have been an issue if I'd been just passing through. B... Read more

So this place is actually within walking distance from the more happening down town Grand rapids area. About a 20 minute walk or so. Hotel itself is kind of in an industrial area that appears a bit run down. Not the dirtiest or cleanest place I have ever been. Guys this is not a 5 star hotel and it is not presented itself as one. You can do a lot better and its not a great hotel, thats just the reality. A bit run down and the rooms show some wear. On a positive note, my experience with ... Read more

Absolutely hated our stay. 1 star is even too much to give. Our wifi didn't work at all. Our smoke alarm was hanging off our wall. Our bathroom looked like it hadn't ever been cleaned. Not to mention when I went to use the "clean" towel in the bathroom it was obvious it wasn't cleaned prior to our stay. It has dried crusted snot on it!! When we tried to get a shuttle downtown they told us it was booked. They only run it at odd hours until 11. Even though when we showed up it was sitting there on... Read more

When we called to book the room, their was no answer? I never heard of a hotel front desk not being properly staffed to answer the phone! Tried three times throughout the day and finally got someone. Made reservation ...in town for a wedding. Wedding invites said there was special rate for staying at this hotel. When I made the reservation they did not honor the special rate. On the day we arrived our wedding was staying the same time anther wedding was in town and a Garth Brooks concert w... Read more

Found this place for $65 + Tax, the lowest within a few minutes of Downtown Grand Rapids. Other places were over $100 and most were higher than $150. Most of the reviews I read were dead-on. Nice staff, lousy facility in need of much upgrading. Needed help from maintenance to open the room door - needed a swift kick! Apparently the folks who redid the tilework didn't get in right! Very crowded with what seemed to be school groups and wedding parties, but not too noisy. The gym had no ventilation... Read more

I stayed here several times in April and May due to my son being in the hospital. First time I called for a reservation I was put on hold for about 15 minutes, girl who answered informed me she had a ton of check in's and was the only one at the desk. I hung up and called back and told her I'd been waiting and was put on hold again but only about 5 minutes this time. Made reservation and got a good hospital rate. Check in was slow, still only 1 person at desk. I will give a good word on her frie... Read more

For the price this hotel really wasn't worth it. Even though it's near the city center I would have rather gotten a better hotel further away. The front desk staff was nice and helpful and the front lobby was gorgeous. However the rest of the hotel is showing it's age. The highlight is the restaurant which has pretty good food but they only had one server while we were there so room service was out. As for the room, well it wasn't as clean as I'd expect. There was garbage left and the coffee ma... Read more

Pretty rough hotel. Front desk people were really nice and helpful, they made up for the condition of the hotel. It is under renovation, but we had brand new beds that were so poorly mounted, they rattled on the frame :-(. A rough neighborhood also. I would be careful about leaving anything in the car.

Was placed in this hotel as part of a hockey tournament. Seedy area of town. Pan handlers and bums in front of hotel. Don't even attempt to try to check in any earlier than 4:00. The stench when you walked in was quite nauseating and was the same throughout the hotel. When we pulled the covers down, we realized the sheets had not been changed (large stain, hairs visible). Pull-out sofa was still open and those sheets had not been changed. Hairs in bathroom. Hair dryer did not work. WiFi... Read more

From rude desk clerks to rooms that were sadly lacking, this hotel was barely clean enough to even my mediocre standards. We arrived at 2:30pm for a 5pm wedding. No one at the desk seemed to be able to give us a time when we COULD check in to prepare for the wedding. They suggest we use the pool lockerrooms!! The bar was the only enjoyable area. Good food, good service. And, to be fair, the do offer free WiFi.

I hesitated to book this hotel for two nights due to recent negative reviews but am so glad to have gone there. Our room was very clean and had obviously received some renovations, the beds were comfortable, the air conditioning and water were just fine. There was a large TV, fridge and microwave. The pool, hot tub and sauna were all good. The restaurant food was great and reasonably priced. The lounge had a comedy show on Sunday night which was a lot of fun, and we saw some 4th of July firework... Read more

I was checked into my room around 5pm. When I came back to the hotel at around midnight my room key didn't work. I went to the front desk and they informed me that they checked someone else into my room while I was away, but they noticed I had my belongings in the room. Come to find out that I had $130 stolen from me and a pair of headphones. I've been trying to get this resolved and the hotel is not responding at all. It's been 10 days now since I stayed there. The manager of this establishment... Read more

We only stayed one night thankfully! The room was just bearable for the night. The pillows were uncomfortable and the sheets had hair on them. The shower had hair in the tub and the drain was clogged so while showering you had the pleasure of standing in your own filth. The pool was freezing and the hot tub had a froth of disgusting body soil floating on top. I guess you get what you pay for. Cheap price was the only plus and it wasn't worth that. Would not recommend!

This restaurant is under renovation by a new independent owner. We stayed in a renovated room which seemed fine. However, hallways were unclean, restaurant was very unclean (floors were dirty, looked like it had not been vacuumed in months and they were "out" of most food we requested (i.e. scones for part of the continental breakfast). This place could be great because its location is close to downtown.

I liked the location of the hotel - that's why I chose it. We had a two-day stay. Unfortunately, the construction crew didn't follow orders and started at 9 a.m. (suppose to start at 10 a.m.), so that was annoying. The front desk apologized and made it right for us. Our room was clean, no problem there. The room key had to be changed out quite a few times, that was annoying. The restaurant's breakfast menu was good, so was the food, but it's dark and a little out of date. The pool is beautiful ... Read more
