Stayed one night for a recent Garth Brooks concert. In my many years of traveling, I believe that my room at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids was THE most comfortable I have ever experienced. The bed was perfectly firm; linens were crisp; desk chair was awesome; bathroom was thoughtfully designed; shower was luxurious. I would love to come back!

Other than a clogged shower drain which was reported but not addressed - the hotel was fantastic! Our room, on the 16th floor, had a fantastic view of the downtown skyline. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed very comfortable. Highly recommend valet parking - so easy. The hotel location was convenient to everything downtown!

We were in Grand Rapids for a conference and stayed at the JW Marriott. I was impressed from the moment the taxi pulled up. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They upgraded us to a gorgeous corner room on an upper floor. The room was perfect, the view of the city and river was awesome. We ate breakfast at the hotel, and while I don't usually like buffets, this one was great and not too expensive. Overall a great stay!

Beautiful hotel. My room was wonderful, my view even better. I overlooked the river and science museum. Not sure how the view on the other side of the hall is...The pool was a nice surprise, I was able to actually do laps. It is not huge, but definitely much longer then most hotel pools. The eucalyptus infused steam room is incredible - incredibly relaxing and incredibly HOT! Almost too hot actually. I wish I could have lasted longer then I did once the steam was full out. It was a littl... Read more

We ended our southwest Michigan brewery tour with a stay at the Marriott. The hotel is clean and exceptionally modern with great views of the surrounding downtown area. The location served as a great centralized home base from which we could walk to some local craft breweries and a concert venue. The washroom in the room was spa-like.

A frequent visitor to Grand Rapids, I had never stayed at the JW until this weekend. We stayed for two nights and the hotel is wonderful. From the check in to the check out, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The room (on the 22nd floor) had a city view and you could see for miles. Everything in the room was very clean and bright, great bathroom and comfortable bed, along with free wi-fi. A continental breakfast was included in our room and we were able to grab a bite to eat befor... Read more

We had previously stayed here back in Jan 2016 and loved it so much, we decided on another weekend get-away at this property. As expected, everything was perfect. All service areas provided excellent service; from the valet to the front desk staff answering any questions.

Out of approximately fifty hotel stays, I have given out two excellent ratings and this will be the third. If you have the budget and are looking for the perfect hotel, this is the place to stay. I would suggest concierge level room with river view.

Staff is fantastic! Rooms aren't that big but I am usually sleeping, so who cares. Stayed on the Concierge level with drinks and breakfast included. If that is all you are going to use then it is not worth the price. Will stay here again.

We loved the room. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was awesome. It was a little warm for my husband. Only negative is we were by the elevators and over the restaurant where we heard the loud music until 10pm. Room service was timely and the food was top notch and tasty.

I had the pleasure of staying at the J.W. Marriott in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I was very pleased with this property. The staff was great, the location was perfect and the room was just what I needed! If you have a stop in GR, I would suggest staying here! The hotel is situated right on the river. I had a great view from my room.

Even within Marriott's JW luxury brand, there can be substantial variations in quality. The Grand Rapids JW Marriott hotel is one of the very best of the brand. The building architecturally stunning, and sits on the bank of the Grand River. The riverside bar and dining are in one of the most beautiful and relaxing setting you will find outside of a beach resort. All of the staff (valet, front desk, restaurant, bar, concierge lounge) were perfectly attentive, friendly, and competent. The foo... Read more

I was surprised but happy to find a JW in Grand Rapids and stayed there for 2 nights. It's a fine hotel but it ends up at the lower end of 4 stars for how they manage the details. Good things: - Room service - Very good quality food at good prices - Executive lounge - General style - New, modern - Bar - Friendly bartender, had my favorite tequila - Parking valet - timely and friendly - Other staff -- very helpful and friendly The Big Fail I called and asked for laundry pick-up at 7AM. I don't often give hotels the maximum rating on here, and instead prefer to reserve it for those establishments which are top tier. This is one of those establishments. From check in to check out, we couldn't have been happier with our stay. I stayed here for five nights in June 2016 while attending a conference in Grand Rapids. The hotel is modern, and has a number of amenities. The bar and restaurant have a modern, upbeat feel. Parking is amazingly convenient, located right across the dr... Read more

Upscale hotel conveniently located in downtown Grand Rapids, close to business, sports, museums and art/theater events. Extremely helpful and pleasant staff, large rooms with comfortable bedding and great city views. Restaurant staff was efficient and the food was excellent. Well worth the trip.

Stayed two nights in June. Great location, walking distance to restaurants and museums. Room very clean. Double shower heads were awesome. Only con was bathroom vanity counter top a little small. Had breakfast buffet both days, very good. Chef Elvis was great. Special shout out to our server Gabriela, she was so nice, very attentive, remembered our drink order from day before, brought my husband coffee to go for our road trip. Great live music in lobby both nights.

The location of this hotel is excellent for newcomers to this city, and the staff is very professional and pleasant. However, for some reason the manager chooses to have "music" playing at all time which is annoying, discordant, and hard to escape. When I arrived not only was it throbbing on the ground floor/lobby area but on all floors and hallways as well. I asked for it to be turned down, I requested and received a room change, but the sound is still inescapable. I do wonder in our world of... Read more

Wanted to get out of town for the weekend but didn't want to deal with Michigan "up north" traffic so we headed west to Grand Rapids and the JW Marriott. We could tell it was special from the way we were greeted when we drove up. The entire stay every staff member was friendly and willing to help. Even the bus boy stopped and offered to take a family picture as we sat outside one evening enjoying the river. It's any easy walk to all the bars, shops, and restaurants in town. It's not low cost... Read more

We were very pleased with our stay at the JW in Grand Rapids. The whole hotel is updated and very trendy. I loved the bath and shower, with the nice toiletries. Very nice all around concierge services as well. As an Elite Gold member, we were given the breakfast and access to the room. Beautiful view of the city from our room and great car valet services as well. We enjoyed our stay here thanks to the location and the service, but a couple of things keep me from going with a full 5-stars here. The check-in area is poorly designed. You have to walk past an overly narrow area up front to get to the guest elevators and, when it's busy, it can create a bit of a logjam. We had an issue getting into the self parking garage as the key would not let us in. I pressed the help button and "spoke" w/ someone from the hotel, but could not understand a word they s... This was my first time to Grand Rapids, and this hotel did not disappoint!! The location is perfect for exploring downtown (both walking and driving). We ate both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and visited the bar on two different occasions and we were not let down! Room service late night was also great too. The size of the room was fantastic; plenty of room for all of our bags and more than enough space in the closet area to hang our clothes. I will absolutely recommend this hotel to a... Read more

It is a beautiful hotel. It is a great location. The rooms are beautiful. I am just disappointed because I accidentally left a couple blouses in the closet. I called the next morning when we got home. They said nothing was found/turned in. I thought the staff were friendly but apparently they are not all honest.

Actually writing this from breakfast room. Hotel is nearly new so is immaculate throughout. Rooms spacious and everything you would expect. Breakfast chef is called "Elvis"!!! He cooks beautiful omelettes and is so polite, as are all the staff. I would recommend and have enjoyed my 4 days in the city. Only one downside is small reception which seems understaffed. Great gym & pool area.

Travel to GR a couple times a year and the JW has won us over as our preferred hotel. Staff is friendly, professional, and accommodating. Rooms & amenities are the best you will find in the area. Parking and location can't be beat. If you are unfortunate enough to have to be in the city during the winter months, a sky bridge connects a good part of the city to minimize the pain in the outside temps. Not sure how he does it, but the valet guy remembers us each time for the past 3 years now. These... Read more

There were tons of family staying at this gorgeous hotel for a family wedding. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Our room was spotless and had a great view of the Grand River. We had a slight problem with the tv and about two minutes after we called the front desk, someone knocked on our door to address the problem. Stayed here twice during winter and summer days. Nice location, and near the Wolfgang Puck restaurant if you need to have higher end food. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Hotel maids always came by in the evenings to ask if I needed room refreshers which was nice. However the in-house restaurant had so-so breakfast and lunch options. I would prefer to eat out. Still can't believe how nice our stay at the JW was, my wife and two sons had a wonderful time at the hotel and in the city of Grand Rapids. Hotel had a beautiful indoor heated pool and jacuzzi. It also has two steam rooms which were great for the adults. So many bars and restaurants near the hotel that we plan to go back without the kids. Hotel is about 45 minutes from Mi Adventure amusement park which was really fun and about an hour and a half from the Sand Dunes which are truly amazing.

First time guest at a JW Marriott and the Grand Rapids hotel wowed us! Beautiful location on the river in the middle of lively downtown we stayed here on a concert night at the nearby Van Andel Arena. From a pleasant surprise with an upgrade in our room at reception to a great river view to consistent outstanding service throughout our stay we'll definitely be looking forward to returning here in the future.

Splurge on a room with concierge access - which comes with a generous breakfast, and evening drinks, snacks and desserts, as well as the best view in the house.
