This was our 2nd stay at this property. We stayed previously about 4 years ago. We heard it was remodeled so we were excited. The remodel is disappointing. The good side is that our room was clean, although the furnishings were downright ugly. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was barely edible as the tator tots tasted like freezer burn and the scrambled eggs were burnt. The furniture setup in the eating area was Odd also and the ruling was of different heights, just a bit weird, not astheti... Read more

I stayed at this hotel this past weekend. It was clean to start off, spacious rooms with a bathroom, three closets, little living room, kitchen, and bedroom. I only stayed for two nights. Breakfast is included, but it is not the best. I would recommend going to ihop which is a few minutes away. The hotel staff forgot to clean our room! They also don't have room service. Pool has too much chlorine. We didn't even go in. Hotel staff at the front desk were accommodating. Might be better to pay extr... Read more

Eight of us girls stayed here this past weekend while we were in town to see Phantom of the Opera. The hotel was nice, and clean, and the suite was spacious. The service at the hotel was the best I have had anywhere. All of the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I have to specifically mention Ryan at the front desk. When we came back that night we were having trouble finding a place that would delivery pizza at 10:30. The third place we called said we were one block outside of the... Read more

Love the duck! Very welcoming staff, rooms are very comfortable with a good layout. Nice sized kitchen and very comfortable bed. Wonderful to have the complementary breakfast and dinner options during the week! Also nice to have the pool and fitness room available. I was traveling with 2 small dogs and the grounds were very well maintained. There was even a small basketball court and outdoor seating area that was lovely. A great place to stay!

Stayed here for a weekend get away from AA to explore the areas around Silver Lake to Pentwater (about another 1+ hour drive west). It's a bit far from downtown Grand Rapids though (about a 15-20 min drive) but worth it b/c it's cheaper to stay here than downtown. The hotel room layout was very comfortable since the rooms are suite style (separate bedroom with living room and kitchenette), less cramped than a typical hotel room. The most important aspect of any hotel room for us is cleanliness and comfortable bedding. The Homewood Suites excels with both & comfort of a home. We choose this hotel, because all base hotel prices were raised due to all the local sporting competitions in the area. My fiance didn't want to spend that much, but we were both extremely satisfied with our decision. The kitchen is fully functional w/ all plates, glasses, utensils, & cookware. Clean, comfortable facility with genuinely friendly staff. Our extended family stayed here for a vacation and the experience was fantastic. Using the in-room kitchens to prepare light meals saved us from spending the entire vacation sitting in restaurants or eating fast food. Note that only two-bedroom suites have ovens, while all suites come with stove tops.

This hotel had everything you would ask for from a mid-range hotel. Rooms were pretty clean, breakfast was decent and included in the room price, and all of the staff were very nice and helpful. The neighborhood felt very safe with loads of restaurants nearby. Downtown Grand Rapids was approximately 15 minutes away by car. I didn't use the pool or hot tub, but my son did and he didn't say anything negative about it.

Spent three nights here on accumulated Hilton Points. The Hotel is pet friendly, clean, comfortable and the service is great. We stayed in room 210 which is very private because the windows face the hotel wall. We were here to visit the kids who live in various parts of Michigan and Grand Rapids was a central place for all. There are many good restaurants surrounding this hotel and they do serve a complimentary breakfast. Parking is ample and free at the hotel.

This is a nice property, however if you have fragrance allergies, be aware that there is a musky, woody scent apparently sprayed into the rooms after cleaning. The sheets and linen, however, just smell slightly of bleach and unlike many hotels, are allergy neutral.
