Don't let the exterior or small but fairly updated lobby fool you - this is an old, outdated Hampton Inn that needs to be completely renovated. Don't believe me? When you make your reservation, you may want to ask if you can have a room with a fridge or microwave. I'm not joking - many of the rooms have neither. In this day and age - unacceptable, at this price point and for a Hampton Inn, which are typically good mid-priced hotels. Also, the internet? Forget it! Every time I've stayed he... Read more

Pictures on the hotel website show a hot tub which is no longer there. We expected a hot tub and were disappointed that it wasn't there. Otherwise it was OK, but not great. Hotel appears to need some updating. Drywall in the bathroom had been "mudded" but had not been sanded.

Hampton Inn Lansing East is reliable, quality, and caring. Really enjoyed the stay in a clean room with good food, cookies for graduating Michigan State students/families, and a quiet room. Good Deal!

Decided to visit MSU over Memorial Day. Hampton Inn met all of our needs. It was clean, quiet and our room was spacious. The staff was friendly. We have stayed here before and especially like how accommodating they are for pets. (We travel with our golden retriever) They have a nice breakfast. (A bit more than the "usual" waffles) Our two teenagers used the pool. It was clean and well kept. We will stay here again.

Hotel is clean, updated, good noise insulation. Running too late for breakfast, so no comment. Staff pleasant and helpful. My perception was that Hampton was budget, but it's not. Really nice place to stay for business.

I had to come to Lansing for a very last minute family emergency. The staff were very accommodating and the service was beyond professional. I did not know how long I would be in town, but they never made it seem like it would be an issue to extend my stay at the drop of a hat. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast and staff were top notch. Thanks again!

Enjoyed my experience at Hampton Inn East Lansing, MI. The staff were very willing to work with and meet any/all needs. I feel the room and the amenities were in line with expectation. Cost of the room was also in line with expectation. The complimentary breakfast was very good. I enjoyed the relative closeness to restaurants, shopping, petroleum, etc...... Overall experience was very good and the people really made the difference. The accommodations were also good, but I believe the peop... Read more

Very pleased with this hotel. Got a two room suite, which is actually a suite with a door that closes in between the living room and the king bedroom - very important when traveling with a herd of small children. The living room is large with lots of space to accommodate kids suitcases, backpacks and the pack and play. It had a pull out bed. The fridge and microwave were good. This hotel is next door to a grocery store! Only minor negative is that the wifi worked poorly in our room. The brea... Read more

This hotel was very nice the room was spacious, facilities very good and front desk helpful. Unfortunately where this hotel fell short was the attitude of cleaning and breakfast staff who did a lack lustre job and were even overheard grumbling about patrons on occasion they need to lift their game.

This hotel is a bit isolated, and would serve better if had shuttle service. Great value though overall and cleanliness. There is an Applebees near, but if you didn't come by car, expect to eat there or order in for dinner.

We stayed one night while visiting MSU. We did walk from the hotel to campus, but it was probably 2 miles or so one way. The room was clean and quiet, and the staff was very nice. Breakfast had the standard fair, and was well stocked. There is a coffee shop that serves sandwiches, an AppleBees, and Meijer grocery store right next door, so you have easy access to food and other items you might need. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this location mainly due to its location. The place was clean and seemed to be well taken care off. The included breakfast wasn't as good as we've had at other Hampton Inns or similar hotels in this price bracket but it was acceptable.

Stayed at the hotel for a long weekend while visiting family nearby. It's a nicely kept property with easy access to Route 127, to Eastwood Towne Center, a terrific shopping area nearby and to Michigan State University. The hot breakfast was good, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the chocolate chip cookies they have out in the afternoon were awesome! They also have coffee and tea available all day and there's an indoor pool.

We were in town for a wedding and this site was suggested as one close to the wedding venue. We loved that this hotel was located next to a Meijer's Store. This store has everything and is open 24/7. It has a post office and a Star Buck's and the widest selection of travel-sized products that I have ever seen. The hotel rooms were clean, bedding comfortable, and towels plentiful. We felt like we were home. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay. Smiling faces, clean Inn and room. Left and after flying to our next destination realized we had left a very important item in our room. Called and the item was located. Talked with Angela, provided our Fed-Ex number and she gave us the tracking number. Really a pleasure doing business with someone who cares about their guests and is willing to go the extra mile for them.

The rooms were clean, the staff was helpful and friendly. The maids were quiet so they did not disturb my slumber as they started their daily room cleaning. The internet worked and was easy to access. The hotel was well maintained. The breakfast was adequate and there was a good variety of things to choose from.

There is a critical need to replace the current desks with computer desks. Business travelers can not work long at these desks without developing pain in their wrists and shoulders as a result of poor ergonomic characteristics of the computer desks in the room.

I checked in on line the day before arrival. I'm a big fan of this perk for HHonors members. When I got to the hotel I was told the room I picked was unavailable. It was unknown whether the room had been cleaned or if there was a computer problem. I was told a manager was checking the rooms. After about 10 minutes the young lady at the desk went upstairs to check herself. I told her, before she went up, that I had reserved a room with a sofa. It pains me to give this hotel a poor rating because the staff was wonderful. The front desk staff, the breakfast staff, housekeeping -- all of these people were helpful, cheerful, professional, and hard-working. This hotel, however, is desperately in need of a make-over. The mattresses were poor, the wallpaper peeling, the art and light strange, and the furniture all looked like it had been through a war. There were chips and cigarette stains in the bath countertop. This Hampton Inn is located between a Kroger (to the West) and a Meijer's store (to the East). There is an Applebees just to the South. Too bad that our room didn't come with a fridge because having one would make A LOT of sense here. We stayed on a Saturday night and the parking lot was PACKED with cars from wedding party guests. We found a spot way in the back next to the swamp. The guests in the room above us (224?) were fighting or wrestling on the floor or...whatever... at about 2:30am.... Read more

Pros: Hotel is conveniently located, near enough to the MSU campus that you can quickly get there, but far enough away that traffic is not so bad. Staff was friendly. Cons: Don't plan on sleeping through the night. Lots of party goers who will come and go (and linger for half an hour) in the hallways making lots of noise until 4 or 5 in the AM. Breakfast was so-so. The hard boiled eggs had gone bad.
