This was a perfect place for my solo weekend in Detroit to see Love Letters on Tour at the Fisher Theatre. It just could not have been better. Both the hotel and Restaurant staff provided top notch service. Loved the location, accommodations, food and the special perk of having a connector to the Fisher Building. Thank you!

I travel a lot around the lower half of Michigan and this is by far my favorite. The staff is extremely friendly; the valet always remembers me, and the restaurant staff go out of their way to make the dining experience perfect. I only had one problem with a noisy neighbor and it was taken care of immediately. It is so nice to be remembered and made to feel special every time I stay.

Where to start? Maybe the rust in the bathtub with the water pouring out of the faucet, the torn curtain, or the extremely surly woman behind the desk checking us in making us feel like garbage because we weren't dressed to the nines? I won't be back and I certainly won't suggest anyone stay here! Frankly I'm amazed this place is in business! The ONLY redeeming quality for this hotel was the friendly valet. He should be behind the front desk, not parking cars. As far as I'm concerned, this hotel... Read more

Another excellent experience at the St. Regis. The incredibly friendly, welcoming, kind, accommodating staff would earn my 5-point rating without the help of everything else the hotel offers. Beautifully appointed throughout, the hotel is immaculate in both its public and private spaces. The rooms are spacious and comfortable in every way, from inviting bed and bedding to plenty of hot water and luxe towels. If any extra is needed (we requested a fan on this warm-at-last weekend), it is offered ... Read more

Dinner at LaMusique before a show at the Fisher recently.. Everything very, very good. Short ribs, cajun pasta and baked whitefish special. Staff very professional and table set up very nice. Irma made it a special dinner! Park at the Fisher Theatre, short walk to St. Regis and back to the theatre for a show. Easy. Give it a try. The staff at this restaurant want a chance to serve you some good food and friendly service at a very reasonable price.

Our first experience here was being sent to a room that was already occupied. Luckily the inhabitants weren't having raucous sex at the time. Maybe an isolated incidence but unprofessional nevertheless. The search engine indicated that this hotel was downtown, which it wasn't: it's 10 min away by car. Also everything in this hotel is brown. Chairs, floors, walls, bed linen, etc. So it's just as depressing as funeral flowers. Also the brown duvet cover was made of a synthetic, itchy material so I... Read more

This is an average hotel, which is on par with Crown Plaza downtown and other hotels in this price range. The hotel has great service from every single staff member. The service blows away every other Detroit hotel I've stayed at (including MGM.) The food at the restaurant is quite good (get the ribs.) There is safe parking, but it is valet only. Uber to the ballparks is around $7.

Old building, clean rooms with updated tv's, service was average (aka fine). The hot water temperature kept changing in the shower (kept getting too hot) but better than the alternative. Wish there were mini-fridges, ice machines only on floor 3 and 1 and not the best way of keeping things cool. Hotel is located in New Town, somewhat inconvenient for downtown Detroit. Not a lot going on nearby, particularly at night, other than the Fisher Theater.

The hotel is in a sketchy area. The rooms definitely need updating. The bathroom drain came out of the tub and the shower head wouldn't move (it was aimed at the wall). The wifi never worked. One restaurant and it wasn't good at all. I had the fried chicken turned out to be a sandwich and the fries weren't cooked. Couldn't wait to leave.

I stayed here for 2 nights. The air-conditioning barely worked and the internet was slow and spotty. I was here on business, but was not able to get much work done in the room due to internet issues. The TV also did not get good reception. The room itself looks like some updates had been made, but the updates were not carried through to include the toilet or shower. The furniture had seen better days as well. I received a wake up call when I had not asked for one. Very annoying. Also, there ... Read more

Location was in the area I needed, but everything else was horrible. I had no air during the heat of summer and just drip-sweated in my room. When I asked for an update on the AC they said they had someone working on it. Asked if they had a fan and they said all of their fans were already in use. They did not offer cool drinks, a different room, and only offered to comp my valet parking. As if that would make up for four days of a miserable stay? And the valet parking? An absolute joke. The staff at valet we're very pleasant. The lady behind the check-in desk was also very pleasant. There was a full range of a nice toiletries in the bathroom. There were plenty of towels, they were clean, and they were not paper thin. The rooms were large, designed most likely 50 or more years ago so they actually had a bygone era feel to them. On the downside, the air conditioners used in this place are about 35 years old. When well-maintained, that should not be a problem. Unfortunately the ... Read more

The atmosphere of the GM luxury is still present there and it makes the hotel unique and interesting, besides the landmark it is now. This hotel is filthy. The only part that is clean is the entry area - appearing as if it is updated and elegant. Then you step over to the elevators and the real state of the hotel becomes clear. There is mold and patches all over the ceilings. (Makes you wonder what the quality of air is that you breathe while staying there.). My room was clean enough, but the air conditioning could not make the room cooler than 78 degrees. The TV was such a poor quality picture that I felt like I was watc... Read more

The price is reasonable for this historic hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The only meal we had at the hotel was breakfast. The food was good and our server was lovely. There is also the New Center Eatery across the street from the hotel which was delicious and convenient. I only wish that I had researched the fascinating history of the area before our stay. The New Center neighborhood is making a comeback - I may not be able to afford to stay at Hotel St. Regis the next time I v... Read more

This hotel looks elegant and feels quite old. There is only valet parking available. I didn't visit the restaurant so cannot comment. My room was on the 5th floor and the nearest ice machine was on the 3rd floor. The shower head! OMG! Horrible! It was one of those teeny tiny water saver shower heads that cities give away for water conservation. That was a very difficult shower. First I had to let the water run hot from the bath spout and then turn on the shower head which would then start to r... Read more

The services began early during the reservation process......and followed me throughout the stay. Valet parking is $20.00 per night. Room service was impeccable, once you got your order in. My wife and I stayed here again from August 11-August 16, 2016. The first time there there was a heat problem (Oct 2015) was told the city hadn't opened the steam lines??? On this visit in August it was very hot and there was an aircondition problem. On one occasion I informed Eric that the rooms needed a working thermostat and he said he had people working on the problem and they were issuing fans (to blow hot air, I don't think so). I calibrated our thermostat and we had air for our stay. N... Read more

The best way to describe this hotel is a little odd. Other than the Fisher Building, there is *nothing* in the area. Although "New Center" is a designated neighborhood, like much of Detroit, it's really just a bunch of empty streets and parking garages. So this hotel is a lone establishment in a pretty desolate area. Compounding this lack of connection to and identity with a neighborhood, is the fact that two floors are occupied by Wayne State University students who were crowded out of the do... Read more

I wish there was a negative 1 I could give this hotel but I can't. Lets be clear management clearly has no regard for customer service. After having to request a different room, the second room was just as filthy. There were mystery stains on the walls. For this hotel to be so historic, you would think they would at least get the stains out of the tubs. The shower curtains had mold.

After reading the reviews for this hotel, to say I had low expectations would be an understatement. For certain, this is NOT a downtown hotel, despite what some of the booking sites may say. It is not particularly near anything and the area surrounding is generally deserted, so there's a pretty desolate feel. Downtown is an hour walk, a half hour bus ride (which was actually a pretty good way to go, and inexpensive), or a ten minute Uber ride. Check in took a while, but that was because the fro... Our family stayed here while our family member was in the hospital and it was close by. We had two rooms on seperate floors and neither had hot water. We complained multiple times and the desk said they would fix it or to run the water for a while. It would get luke warm at best for 1 to 2 minutes (we timed it) before getting ice cold. I was concerned by some of the reviews of this hotel. I walked in with an open mind and was glad I did. The staff was above par, the hotel was in good shape, the location was great. This hotel is very nice, but it is not in downtown despite what it says. This hotel will require a taxi/uber to get into most areas you want to be in. The restaurant in the lobby serves delicious Gumbo (spicey too). You can walk to the Motown Museum, which has an excellent tour. I had heard of the wonderful St. Regis for years, and finally had an opportunity to stay there this past weekend. Room #208 faces out onto the heating/cooling units, but then the windows were so filthy it didn't even matter at that point.
