I've stayed here a number of times, and ALWAYS had a great experience. This is my "go to" hotel when I travel to Detroit! The staff is always friendly and very helpful, and the rooms are always clean. The location is VERY close to Greektown and a number of restaurants and bars. Also very close to both Ford Field and Comerica Park.

Dad reserved a room months back for us to see the Magic Flute at the Detroit Opera House. Apparently, the week before he always checks to see if his card or points will be charged properly. He learned this place requires a cc authorization form and he sent it during the week. By Saturday, check-in, the hand-off between the week manager and weekend manager was missing. He had to resend the cc authorization form, the weekend manager claimed he input the information (apparently insinuating that ... Read more

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for a wedding and hosted a family breakfast in a private room the next morning. ALL of the staff that we experienced were wonderful...from check-in, to our server at the restaurant (Casi) to our banquet server (Kimberly), I couldn't have encountered more friendly or helpful people. The accommodations were clean and spacious.

The Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Detroit is perfectly located for quick access to the interstate and to key areas within the downtown area. More importantly, the staff at the Hilton Garden Inn is clearly on par with far more expensive hotels. The staff at those hotels could learn a great deal from the staff at this Hilton Garden Inn. If you haven't been to Detroit lately, the area around the Hilton Garden Inn is very clean and safe.

My stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Detroit was wonderful! From the moment I checked in until the moment I checked out, I was surrounded by friendly, competent staff. My room was clean, smelled fresh and was very comfortable. I was in walking distance of all the entertainment, restaurants, historical sites and the People Mover was convenient for getting around if I didn't want to walk. Great location in downtown Detroit. Having never been to Detroit, we were expecting the worst. Downtown, overall, was clean and safe. We were able to walk to the Tigers game and back without ever feeling unsafe. The staff at this hotel was wonderful. Personally helped us with an issue of a missing package that was supposed to be delivered. Not only helpful, but everyone we encountered there was extremely pleasant. Had a planned trip to Detroit to watch the Tigers play. You cannot get any better as far as a destination to where the fields are (Comerica/Ford). It is a 5 minute walk at most. Staff was nice and the lobby area is nice. Do not forget your room key. Obviously most of the hotels are worried about crime in the city as you need a room key to do anything. Yes, it is super convenient for a Tigers game and I would recommend it for that. Otherwise it was just "ok". The room was clean but not super clean and the bathroom is definitely in need of some tender loving care. There was caulk everywhere it was not supposed to be and missing / very dirty grout, chipped tile and tub and the shower curtain was in shreds.

The location of this hotel cannot be beat. It is central to everything that you likely would want to do in Detroit, and the parking is convenient and reasonable ($22 night). In addition, the staff is friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are nothing special - they are clean and what you would expect from a Hilton hotel. A bit pricey for what you get- I like a firm mattress it wasn't ice machine was out of order so had to go to a different floor to retrieve. Also you need your key inserted in elevator to get to other floors-which I understand for security, but it would have been nice had the front desk told us prior to getting on. $22.00 parking fee is a bit much considering the valet was not present when we checked in.

Selected primarily because of location - it is five minute walk to Greektown and only slightly longer to the Sports Arenas and Fox Theater. This hotel is located in the heart of Detroit's up and coming downtown. It is within a short walk to major theatres, fine restaurants, stadiums, and the city's nightlife. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed. Avoid the breakfast in the hotel.

I had a difficult time getting to the hotel because of all the construction on the roads and all the one way roads. I did not eat at the hotel so I could not tell you about the food. I was put in a handicap room (I am not handicapped) but I loved the large room. The bathroom was a little dirty but other than that it was a nice visit. When I went to check out I told the front desk that I wanted to pay cash for parking and not put it on my cc. He informed me that there was no charge but when ... Read more

They have a bar, restaurant, pool and hot tub, and comfortable beds. The rooms are nice. Parking has a separate charge. It's in walking distance to Ford Field. We used Uber so I don't know if it's near public transportation but I didn't see any nearby

This hotel provides exceptional service and I have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Detroit a number of times due to the kindness and professionalism of the staff. I am always greeted with a smile and they always deliver. the proximity to great restaurants in Greektown and the safe conditions make this an excellent choice.

Was able to valet the car ($25 where everywhere else was $50) before officially checking in (too early) and then walk to the game which is right down the street. Checked in when game was over. Great experience

First off....we couldn't have picked a better hotel for the Lions game. We got into town around noon and our room wasn't ready, so we tailgated instead (no grilling). The bathrooms are key-coded, so we got a key so we could access the bathrooms. The hotel is busy on game days with people wanting to use the restrooms, so having them locked is great idea. There were also some transients roaming about but the valet staff was on-point with making sure the hotel guests were not disturbed by them.... Read more

Overall My stay was great Room was a bit hot but livable would stay there again located right down town in walking distance to pretty much everything only thing I wished was that they offer extended parking on departure day so that if you are attending a game instead of having to leave and go find parking else where

This is a full-service conference hotel. They have everything you need. Even though you're downtown, you never have to leave. Great staff, great restaurant & bar. Nice workout facilities and conference rooms. Perfect location!

Was excited to stay in the heart of America's come-back city, but was frustrated at the awkward signage on the building - high and difficult so see in a maze of one-way streets. Road closures in the area made for an awkward route. Building was security locked at 9 pm - which created a bit of an eerie feeling. Hotel was adequate, not much to do in the area. Lobby area lacks vibrancy and energy. Front desk staff were more concerned about their personal lives than addressing me as a guest. By far n... Read more

This hotel was overall average, and in a great location for my husband and I to attend a recent jazz concert. The only thing we thought was suspect was the chair in the room in which the ottoman had a nasty looking white substance. Needless to say, we didn't touch the chair.

Close to the stadiums. However hotel charges an additional $50 to park during game day. Breakfast was average. Room was nice and clean and bathroom was large. Great view of downtown. Hotel rate was pretty high for a random weekend in October.

Worst Hilton we have ever been to. Used lotion, soaps. Hair on towels. Internet was terrible. Charge $50 on the NFL game days if you're parked their lot, they need the space for non-hotel guests. Would have liked to have tried the restaurant, but there was no time, had to get out for the non-hotel guests because I was not going to pay 50.00 extra dollars. Will never go back there.

The hotel is a little pricey but it was a NHL and NFL weekend so gouging is expected. Valet parking is an expensive disaster! First trip to Detroit and the location was nice plus there is a casino nearby which we enjoyed.

Hotel was VERY clean which I always appreciate. You couldn't beat the location either. It was very safe and within walking distance to everything you would need including greektown, the casinos, bars and restaurants, etc. We were there for a wedding and we were able to walk to the DAC where the event was being held. So convenient!

We stayed here for a romantic evening last Friday night & it was a great choice! It's nicely located walking distance to anything along the river front, Greektown, The Detroit Opera House & it in sight of Tiger stadium. We booked the king suite with jacuzzi tub. It's smaller than most suites, but has everything 2 people would need. The parking is $25.00 valet, but it takes the hassle out of searching for a lot & worrying about safety. Speaking of which, we walked all over, visiting various bars ... Read more

From the time I arrived, I was greeted by a very professional valet who helped with my (very heavy) luggage. The front desk staff made an excellent recommendation on where I could find a particular type of food I wanted. I got a room with a great view; it had all the comforts I needed. Of course, there were the cookies!

We stayed here twice, each time for one night on our way between Chicago and Toronto. We were pleasantly surprised to see the hotel was quite large, ten stories high, though it does not have a strong presence on Gratiot Ave. due to its loading area and front door being at a side angle from the street. The room was comfortable, though we did have some trouble adjusting the temps on the second night. The breakfast area is actually larger that it appears on their website (unusual, no?) and inclu... Wi-fi worked well and had adequate speed for searches but buffered a lot when streaming video. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was fully stocked and had plenty of towels. The hotel's staff is welcoming and helpful. The price and location are a big plus. The only caveats are that the food service at breakfast and at the Grille are not great. And the internet is good except if you expect to stream any content. Still, I would definitely stay at this hotel next time I'm in downtown Detroit.

Great staff, nice rooms. Property convenient to good restaurants within a two block walking distance. The negatives - bed was not comfortable - not sure I can even explain why but part of the issue is the ventilation is in the ceiling and blows right on the bed. No way to avoid it. I would ask for a different room different time.
