The staff was welcoming, rooms are large, clean & beds were extremely comfortable. The parking rate is expensive & although there are refrigerators in the rooms, there are no microwaves which was a little inconvenient. There is one in the lobby but you have to wait to use it. The cookies given to you at check in are delicious! Great location.

I was incredibly disappointed with my experience at Doubletree Detroit Fort Shelby location. I attempted to use the online check in to choose a room and it showed I was on the 9th floor. I was ok with this and chose not to select a different room. Upon check in, I was told my room was on the 5th floor. I also requested a corner room for the additional charge but as the hotel was completely full I understood that the request could not be honored. The room had a wet mold-type smell that was very o... Third time I have stayed here -- and the staff has always done a great job, with the rooms comfortable with nice views. Mo was very helpful in accommodating my move to a corner suite when I decided to have a friend join me for the weekend at the last minute. As a HH Diamond member this was much appreciated. Thank you again for another great stay!

Overall, the hotel was very clean, the rooms nice and the food delicious. However, I was met with issues every day of my stay. The valet typically took over 30 minutes to retrieve our car when they stated it would be only 10-15. The front desk staff repeatedly treated us with contempt and annoyance during every interaction. Although I did love the hotel and the location, I checked out a full day early because I did not want to stay one more night in that hotel.

We stayed here during our visit to Detroit for Movement Festival. It is walking distance to Hart Plaza, but they also have shuttles that will take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the hotel (such a lifesaver). They also had this awesome text concierge service. I was able to send a text for extra towels, a shuttle pickup request, etc. We had a really early flight and I was prepared to fight for early check-in, but didn't have to. Group trip to the music festival held every year. Great hotel, great hsk, questionable - checkout staff - a little shady since they cancelled my car service and sent me in some ones broken down van. I should have used uber. But overall a pretty good stay. I'll just make my own transportation reservation online next time instead of taking the front desks advice.

Mediocre over-priced restaurant/bar. this is common of major hotels where their restaurants take their customers for granted. Unfortunately, the nearest alternative restaurants are 5-10 blocks away making it very inconvenient.

Good spacious suite-rooms. Lots of dents and scratches in the walls though. Neighborhood is not good unless you are going to cobo hall, Hart Plaza or to a red wings game. No nearby restaurants or bars. Horrendously overpriced hotel restaurant and bar. No parking besides valet, who steal quarters from your car. Asked multiple times for towels through phone and text and they say someone will be right up, but never show. Will not come back unless I can't find anywhere else.

My stay was very pleasant! I stayed on the Hilton Honors floor, room 823, and it was huge- 2 queen suite - and most importantly, quiet. The Front Desk Staff was incredibly doting and they used the text app which I really liked. If you are looking for a nice and reasonable stay in the downtown Detroit area, this is a great choice. We stayed here for two nights while visiting the Motor City. It was our first time to Detroit so we didn't know what to expect because, let's face it, everyone talks about the vacant buildings and decay. But downtown Detroit has done a fantastic job of rebuilding and refurbishing, and this hotel is one of its shining stars. It is only three or four blocks from the heart of the city, and is right next door to the courthouse and a financial building (I can't recall which one). The hotel itself... Read more

Overly eager valet parking staff (verging on intrusive) met us on arrival - not a good start! Check-in was fine and we were given free water and cookies. The room (suite) was a good size with a comfortable bed, and although generally clean, many surfaces were covered in dust and the carpet was covered in fluff, bits and hair - we even found a hair ball - yuk! My team had a meeting in Detroit, which required an overnight stay. I was very surprised because I was unaware that a Double Tree Hilton was downtown. I was pleasantly surprised by the location, service and room size. The staff was great, my room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.... I would definitely stay again!!!

Excellent customer service! A small human error was made. The staff went all out to keep us happy. Room upgrade and complimentary drinks. Clean, quiet rooms. Lots of room for a family to stay in a suite.

I recently traveled to Detroit for a wedding and stayed at this hotel. It was clean, the staff was helpful and there were many options within a short drive. I used the gym which was nice and the on-site restaurant breakfast was superb. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

The interior of this hotel was very elegant and historical with updated amenities. The room was very large and comfortable. Enjoyed breakfast. The bartenders knew how to make a good strong margarita. The convention center was about a 3 block walk.

This hotel is close right near the Cass station for the Detroit people mover. The people mover is awesome! I felt safe everywhere around this hotel and when taking the people mover to other areas. This hotel is close to the convention center.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Progressive technology allowed me to check in early and use my phone app as a room key, but what a great touch to provide a warm cookie at check in! I also noticed that the hallways just smell pleasant and the room/service was excellent. I would definitely stay here again!

Average room but good service. For the price expected a better room and a lot better service. The wake up call came in 20 minutes earlier than scheduled and I was getting up early for a half marathon so those 20 minutes were important. Overall service was good but for the price expected an overall better experience

My 2 adult sons and I stayed at the Doubletree for several days and ate breakfast at the Motor City Kitchen in the hotel every day because the staff were VERY attentive and the food was great. They serve a continental breakfast, but if you ask, you can get eggs cooked to order and they come out perfect every time. The hotel itself is very nice and in a super location.

My husband and I were so impressed with the staff and service at this hotel. They were incredibly busy but that didn't stop anyone from smiling, offering assistance, and going above and beyond. Everyone from the valet, to restaurant staff, to housekeeping, to security were amazing! We would highly recommend this hotel!

I was traveling with a friend. They welcome when you arrive with a smile and friendly welcome from the man parking the car to the front desk, and then a warm cookie to top it off, Nice! The hotel is nice and clean and staff is friendly, the only down fall for us was the cost per night, with parking added comes up to even more that is the only reason for the four and not five, but it is down town and close to everything. They have a van that will take you place around town that was nice. I did e... Read more

Having been invited to speak at a conference, I was a bit surprised with the location of this event. Not that I have anything against downtown Detroit, but was sure that this national meeting would have been held out in the suburbs, or closer to the airport. In any case, I arrived at the location (Doubletree by Hilton) and was immediately impressed with the attentive/informative service of the valet (thank you Al!!) as well as the front desk staff (thank you ladies!). And the property...was i... Read more

I stay at this hotel every year for the Detroit Marathon. You walk right outside the front door to the start line. It is close to everything down town, entrance to People Mover right around corner. Always clean, friendly and a great stay.

I stayed here for a company meeting and was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean, really roomy, with good amenities. The staff was very welcoming and accomodating. A few of the meeting rooms looked slightly worn but overall it was a great venue for our meetings. We could walk to lots of places including MGM and it felt safe. Would recommend for future meetings and I would even consider staying with my family some day!

While this hotel is still an excellent value the room was old and dated. The furnishings could be newer and in better condition as could the linens. It was clean but they need to replaced. Overall, I would stay there again but as much for the location to my Detroit office as for the holtel itself.
