On our road trip from NS - Boston to see the Red Sox play, we decided to stay just outside of the city to save on hotel cost. What a grand hotel. A massive parking lot, and a massive building! We felt a little out of place as there was some sort of conference with lots of suits and name tags, but the staff made us feel right at home! With a coffee shop and restaurant right in the main lobby area, there were food options just a step away. The front desk was a HUGE help to us navigating our way in... Read more

I stayed here one night for a wedding reception taking place in the hotel. The staff is helpful, they arranged an early check-in for me despite being fully booked for the weekend. The view of the river from my room was fantastic. The building is old and the walls are thin, but the rooms are well maintained and clean. The most annoying part of the stay was that wifi was not free.

The hotel itself looks very old. It is well located and convenient drive to Boston. The staff that greets you it is not very friendly and knowledgable it doesnt seem like they like their job (interacted with two, one during check-in and one when I came back to the hotel). The real trigger for the Poor review is the fact that I tried contacting their "At your service" and Concierge, for more than 20 minutes and was not able to reach out to anyone until I gave up. All I needed was some soap bars. ... Read more

I've known but had never stayed in this hotel. Pretty disappointing. Price was way too high for a tired and worn Marriott. Location is pretty decent which is why they get away with the price. Surprised they can have a better facility and more cleanliness. A business travelers hotel to stay at by necessity vs by choice. It is what it is.

I had a Caesar salad and crab cakes which were both excellent, prices are decent for a hotel restaurant. The New England clam chowder was good but different (less creamy) than in most places. Atmosphere is that of a hotel lobby so not much to right home about. Easy stop off the highway for travelers.

We stayed here for a family wedding and with all of the details and folks to consider found this hotel staff to be above and beyond for courtesy and accommodation. Starting with George bell hop manager who was so eager to help and great with logistics for ceremony/reception to housekeeping manager Nicole who went WAY beyond. She found my lost pendant necklace and personally shipped it back to me in a carefully packaged envelope completed with a note from her. So grateful...and impressed! It wa... Read more

Stayed here for 3 nights in June and had a wonderful stay. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit on the smaller side, but they are comfortable and clean. If you can get a room with a view of the Charles River, you won't be disappointed. If you have time to go outside and sit, please do! The area behind this hotel is definitely the high point. The restaurant onsite is also pretty good. I had dinner and breakfast here, both enjoyable. The breakfast buffet is definitely worth it. It's also righ... Read more

This hotel is very tired. While a few feeble attempts have been made to keep it somewhat up to date, this is the sorriest Marriott ever. As a Marriott rewards member, I am usually loyal to the Marriott brand and usually choose Marriott, JW, or Courtyard. We selected this location because of it's proximity to family we were visiting. When we arrived (about 11 pm) no one was to be found. After about 5 minutes or so, a young man came out of a back room to check us in. He met us with complete apa... Read more

Stayed for a weekend. This was our third stay at this hotel. I am a Marriott member, and I used my points, however, I wasn't as pleased with the property this time. We have family in Newton and we were there for a concert in Boston, so it was again very conveniently located. The hotel atmosphere just seemed a bit sketchy~not clean and employees didn't seem to be all that thrilled with putting any effort into their jobs. I could go on with specifics, but to wrap it up, it just wasn't up to Marrio... Read more

I have stayed at this hotel at least 20 times and in the recent past I have said never again. I return because the location is nearby my family. I checked in this evening and was given a room overlooking the parking lot. It has no privacy. However that would be livable were it not for the filth of the room. The carpeting is stained and damp and is buckled. ( supposedly this is from the carpet having been cleaned, yet it is still dirty). I put towels over the area where I walk. I Ickes all my bel... We stayed here for four nights and it truly was a very nice place to stay. The room and the bedding were very clean and comfortable. Although they were having a very busy weekend, our room request and our request for an additional cot in the room was met. Note to Marriott Rewards members, the wifi is free for members, but I was not told of this when I checked in. As its location was not within the city of Boston, I do question why they feel it necessary to charge an $11 a night parking fee, but ... Read more

The hotel was very nice and the rooms were clean upon check in. My favorite things about the room and our stay were the comfy beds and the black out curtains. I could have slept allllll day it was so dark and comfortable. No free wifi and no free parking were a real bummer though. Wasn't anything exceptional but definitely wasn't horrible by any means. Front desk attendant was very nice when we checked in.

My 80ish year old parents and I decided to share a room. We had a king bed with a roll away as I requested. My problem primarily is with the roll away. I am only 120 lbs and I could literally feel the coils and springs in the mattress. There was no topper or cushioning put on the mattress. And EVERY time I moved it squeaked loudly. I did tell the staff about this upon checkout (2 nights in the room) and they did compensate me with points. The receptionist asked for me to fill out a comment card ... Read more

Decent hotel for the money. Needs updating and cleaning. Outside is very dated. Parking fee is ridiculous. They wouldn't know if you brought a car or not. I could see a few if I was in the city but this hotel isn't. Good location.

A three night stay is costing $329.00 per night. Although the this is also a conference center I see nothing that warrants this cost. My room has two double beds, a small but functional bathroom. It's clean, has a small refrigerator, no microwave, flat screen TV and a one cup coffee maker. Although my room is on floor two which is below ground level, it takes two-three minutes of running water before it comes out hot. All the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel has free wifi I the lob... Read more

My wife and I had a glorious weekend stay at the Marriott Newton. We visited Newton to attend a college football game. We met friends whose son was playing in the game as well as other college families. The staff at the hotel is extremely nice and the atmosphere is pleasant, although the hotel is undergoing a renovation. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast served at the restaurant. I am certain that the hotel will be a great place to stay once the renovations are complete.

Comfortable stay in Newton Marriott. Rooms good sized and clean. Air Con in public areas too high! Pool disappointingly small. Breakfast food quality only average. Concierge lounge well stocked and serviced. Room rates most competitive for Boston area. Hotel well located for Mass Pike but no shops or restaurants really close by to walk to.

Just want to give a shout out for my best encounter at this MARRIOTT ........ I was to be staying 3 nights and when I saw my was totally disappointing over a roof. I had stayed in this hotel 5 years ago and knew there were rooms with water views. So Melinda or Melissa was the lovely woman at the desk started a quest . I was told I had to walk far, but luckily I am in good shape. The next room someone had violated the no smoking rules and it literally stunk! Room number 3 was... Read more

This hotel has been here for years - of course completely updated and beautiful. Located on the Charles river. And close to 95/128 and Mass like. This is a great hotel, staff is incredibly courteous, rooms nice sized and updated. Enjoy your view of the Charles River and think about folks in boats there in the 1930's. bravo Marriott fir keeping the jewel alive and beautiful!
