We have been vacationing on the Vineyard for many years and have always stayed at the home of a dear friend, until his recent passing. This was the first time we have stayed at a hotel and I'm so happy we chose the Kelley House. Since we were traveling with our dog, we started looking for dog-friendy properties and thought we'd probably have to rent a house but to our surprise this hotel was EXTREMELY pet-friendly. Our reservationist made sure we had one-bedroom suite on the 1st floor of The C... Read more

We stayed at the Kelly House in September 2014 and absolutely loved it. The location was perfect and the hotel was clean and comfortable with a cottage charm to it. When we came back in September 2015, we were incredibly disappointed. The first room we stayed in was on the first floor. The smell of mold was so strong that we couldn‚??t stand to be in the room for long periods of time. The carpet was damp and there were holes in the walls. When we turned on the shower, you could see the dir... Read more

well we had a different experience then expected. we had booked a regular room but when arriving at the kelley house they could not find our reservation due to an updating of their computer system a couple weeks before. i had my confirmation and because i did they upgraded us to a cottage/suite which was outdated but extremely comfortable and spacious. we appreciated the upgrade! the staff was wonderful and they are doing major renovations so should be getting updated. all in all we had a gr... We stayed at the Kelley House for the MV Wine Fest weekend. The staff was lovely and accommodating. We received a room upgrade to s suite which was very nice and far bigger than we could possibly need. The location is certainly a plus being right in the heart of Edgartown so walking around the shops, docs and over to the light house was very easy. There were also bike for guest use if you wanted to explore beyond walking distance.

We stayed at the Kelley House over Mother's Day/Pink and Green weekend. We ended up in a spacious room with water views that was perfectly fine for our stay. The decor was a bit dated, but we didn't spend much time in our room. Parking was free and convenient, and we noticed there were baked goods and coffee in the morning (although we didn't have any). It looks like there is some construction going on next to the pool- hopefully that will be completed soon. If you're looking for a reasonab... Read more

I was somewhat frightened to book a hotel here, given the critical reviews which have been posted on Tripadvisor. Bethani Berg of the reservation desk ensured me however that the hotel made many renovations last winter and everything is fine now. Since I have only made bookings two weeks in advance (most of the hotel rooms in the village were sold out), I accepted their offer for a 279 USD/night offering. I'm not a good sleeper, normally I sleep only 6 hours a night. Maybe because the bed qualit... Read more

Stayed there for a one night stay. Location is great, service is good but the quality of the building and furniture was not good and prevented us from a good Night's sleep. The bed structure was loose and the frame kept moving and making noises at night, waking us up. Also, the ceilings / walls are very thin and you can hear noises from other rooms, specially walking upstairs. Not sure what can be done about this as it is an old building, but the prices are very high for not having a good Ni... Read more

We stayed here previously and had a great stay. Unfortunately this was not the case this time. We were first given room 101 on the first floor. We went into the room and the smell of must and mold was so bad that we requested another room. I was told the hotel was full but they were able to move me next door to 103. Upon first look the room appeared fine and didn't smell as bad. After spending time in the room it was, however, awful! It too smelled and the bathroom was atrocious. Mold all ... Read more

I like a bed and pillow that is not too hard and not too soft. I found the bed and pillow in 304 exceptionally comfortable. The best sleep I had on our 2 1/2 weeks trip! Yes, the inn is an old historic inn so it obviously is old. However, we found it kept up reasonable well and we often choose to stay in historic inns and we are picky about cleanliness and upkeep. Both we ok for us here. A bonus is that they have bikes available for their guests. We enjoy a lovely late afternoon bike ride around... Read more

Very nicely located in the little town Edgartown conveniently reachable by bus from OB. Nice rooms incl outside pool. Currently their restaurant is closed but all fine. No breakfast but there are plenty solution around the house. The lighthouse is just a small walk away from the hotel.

I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews because our experience at the Kelley House was great! First of all, a perfect location in the center of the town, but still in a quiet area so you don't hear any noise. It was walking distance to all the great restaurants, bus station, port, the Lighthouse and its beach. We had a king room on 2nd floor and it was bigger than expected, very comfortable bed and a nice shower - all you really need for a beach vacation. We loved the cute bicycles you can... Read more

Great location and there's a pool, however, this hotel doesn't rate with the other hotels labeled as National Historic Hotels. It was sparse 1980s decor. I love Edgartown and stayed for two nights. Too pricey and no ambience. Disappointing hotel.

We recently stayed at the Kelley House in Edgartown. We have stayed here many times. It is the sister hotel to Harbor View Inn which is elegant and amazing! It was booked for a wedding so we ended up at Kelley house. The location is perfect, right in the middle of downtown, great restaurants, shopping and water views. I do need to mention that I had booked this reservation 6 months ahead and was offered a specific room after a very nice conversation with agent and when we arrived we we're put... Read more

I was very happy with our 3 night stay at the Kelley House. Some of the reviews about the rooms did make me nervous but we had a nice room on the 2nd floor. It was over looking the street and parking lot which was pretty crowded but noise was not bad and I enjoyed people watching from our window. I did hear the people above us, I believe some kids running around and this was disturbing but I can't blame the hotel. The room was spacious and clean so I was happy. Stayed at the Kelley House in June. We were really excited as we have vacationed in MVY for many years and had always wanted to stay at the hotel. The location is awesome, right in the middle of town and across from the harbor. The exterior of the hotel is great, as is the lobby. However, once you get beyond that, the hotel is in dire need of work. Paint peeling. Wallpaper coming off. Carpets stained. Sink faucet leaks. The hotel restaurant closed due to waste pipe issues, Maybe the owners don't... Read more

The location of this Inn is unbeatable. You can walk to the beach, lighthouse, shops, restaurants. Perfect with kids as it has a pool right in the middle of town! You can see the boats while at the pool. There is also a great pool bar. If your kids are teens, you will not mind them wandering off for ice cream or shopping on their own. Rooms were well appointed and can accommodate a rollaway. They are not fancy, but clean white linens, a fridge and great staff. They serve milk and cookies in... Read more

We chose Kelley House primarily for its Edgartown location. The room decor is what you would expect to find in a historical inn. We were nervous about being assigned to a first-floor room next to the pool and outdoor bar. Our room was little noisy during the day, but we weren't there much anyhow. More importantly, it was surprisingly quiet after about 9 PM, so we slept quite well.

This is a 3 1/2 star hotel charging 5+ star prices. While the staff is nice, they are mostly summer interns that seemed new to the hospitality industry. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Egartown. We could see the harbor from our room! The grounds we a mess, partly due a renovation of their restaurant, but there is no excuse for the conditions of the property. 20% of the light bulbs in the main building hallways were missing. This hotel has the potential to be much better, bu... Read more

Pros: Unbeatable location, as others have said Pool was perfect for kids to play in and not crowded at all on a summer weekend Staff was super friendly and always greeted us hello/said goodbye Cons: Decor was dated/going downhill. Room had a motel type feel. Bathroom had mold in the bathtub and didn't feel super clean. Food at the Wave bar was really gross. Couldn't finish the lobster roll. They're all pre-made, refrigerated sandwiches and everything was gross. People were smoking outside ... Read more

Spent 3 nights at Kelleys house in July 2016. Loved Martha's Vineyard and Edgartown , what a beautiful place. Room cost £250 per night, and for that you would expect some kind of room service. But on the whole the staff were nice and the room was clean and tidy. There is a small pool area and all of the shops are in walking distance. All in all we had a great time.

I really tried! It was no use. I made my reservation eight months in advance for an July 23-25th stay. I called the hotel directly on December 5,2015 and asked for the room number of the room with the blue carpeting on the web site. I asked to make a reservation for it. The woman told me it was room 82 in the Court House, but that only Expedia could take reservations.. So I called Expedia and made a reservation. They did not not tell me that Room 82 was never available for them to book and ... Read more

Dino and Mike were very helpful at check in. Hotel is in a great location. Easy walk from the ferry and close to all the shops and restaurants in Edgartown. The rooms are spacious considering the location, bathrooms a little tired. The pool area is also tired but clean and definitely was a nice treat after a day of shopping. The pool bar area is a great place to hang and people watch. Had a great visit, thanks Kelley House for adding to our special weekend away.

We stay here annually for a few days. Some signs of aging, w/o clear signs of redos. 40W bulbs in the lights ... may be environmentally (and lower cost) correct, but hardly customer-friendly. We had to purchase 100W bulbs to be able to read comfortably. Clock missing in one room, then no stopper for the basin in another (water use?). Also not clear that their parking lots are at all checked for those not staying at Kelley. Room had not been cleaned one day by the late afternoon -- "had to clea... Read more

This hotel was extremely expensive and there was visible mold in the carpets and curtains- the room reeked of it. Also wouldn't accommodate a 1hr late check-out despite being not that busy on an early Sunday afternoon. I don't know that this is atypical for Martha's vineyard but still would not recommend

I'm sad to say this time around my stay at Kelly House really sucked. We stayed on the first floor and we could hear everything. People walking down the hall and up and down the stairs. The room was over priced for what we got. Parts of the ceiling was come down. The bathroom was really bad. We paid way to much for a fixer upper. The room need to be repaired big time.

Outstanding location, outstanding staff however the lobby is the best part of the facility. No hot water due to a ruptured pipe, not their fault but still disappointing. Bathroom moldy and old looking/smelling and in need of paint, TV remote control did not work, room was otherwise clean and very comfortable, I would not stay here again for the price unless improvements were made.

We absolutely LOVED the location and grounds on this beautiful, historic inn. Our favorite part was the historic pub attached to the building (Newes from America), and the location to all of the shopping, the docks, and restaurants. The staff was helpful, courteous, and friendly, and gave us fantastic suggestions for the area. The only thing taking this from a 5-star to a 4-star review is that the ceiling appeared to have water damage, and the popcorn coating was peeling off. Not sure if all roo... Read more
