Nicely updated hotel on the inside. Outside is a bit dated but not too bad. Rooms were nice, although our AC was a bit whacky and seemed to never shut off. One complaint was the location of the plugs in our room. All were to the right side of the bed as opposed to having some on each side. Not a deal breaker, just kind of irritating.Overall Id stay here again. Its a short walk to Lechmere which will take you anywhere you want to go.

We spent two nights in Cambridge at the Royal Sonesta, and it was a good experience, despite some incredibly rude fellow guests. The hotel did the best they could, and I appreciate that effort. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a beautiful, large room with a river view and a luxurious bathroom. It was a great room, and we were very happy. Unfortunately, a group that had rented multiple rooms on our floor had no regard for other guests and repeatedly made a lot of noise in the hallways, includi... Read more

The Sonesta is located walking distance (within 20 minutes walk) of North Station and Lechemere Stations. It does have beautiful views of the Charles but when you get to your room, the windows are not particularly large and the affect is lost. The Sonesta sports a couple of restaurants. Breakfast is a quick pick up from their in house cafe - which serves up food and prices that are definitely in league or better than Starbucks. However, the restaurants are not awe inspiring. Located at a very convenient spot with great views of the Charles River, this hotel offers a great way to enjoy Boston and Cambridge. The facilities are nice (including the gym), the rooms are very comfortable, and the staff is friendly and efficient.

The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly and willing to help and both the art bar and the coffee shop serve great products. There were some issues with the room. After my room mate arrived, my key to the room stopped working and the hotel staff could not resolve the issue. I resolved it by using my room mate's spare key. The telephone didn't work and there was some confusion on how the lights work. Apart from that, the hotel is great. The bed is fantastic and the AC works perfectly. When I ... Read more

The views of Boston across the river are remarkable, miles of the city's skyline can be seen from the hotel. The staff is first rate. They genuinely want guests to enjoy every aspect of their visit. The location is perfect with the Museum of Science with it's Omni Theater a short walk, TD Garden in sight from the hotel, and shopping just across the street. The running, walking and biking trails are a few steps out the door and follow the Charles River past some great sight seeing. We ate two fan... Read more

I recently stayed at the Royal Sonesta Boston, Cambridge for business and was delighted with the attention to detail which makes a business trip run smoothly and hassle free. I was unwell whilst on my trip and had called front desk on a completely unrelated matter. I had not mentioned being unwell, however, as front desk could obviously hear I was unwell, Arely (front desk supervisor) very kindly had a surprise bowl of complimentary hot chicken soup sent up to my room. We stayed for a night in Boston and the Sonesta again gave us a convenient upscale hotel option at a reasonable summer price. Our package included free overnight parking good until 3PM the next day. The room had a river view and the amenities were as expected. There is outdoor seating this time of year for drinks and/or food and that's a nice touch right on the Charles. There is a Riverplace walk to stroll along the river. Helpful staff.

Good location for a meeting but would not pick this location for a leisure trip. Rooms are indeed clean, comfortable, and adequate for a business meeting but really not frills. There is a decent gym facility and a walk/run trail just out the back door. 2 very pricy restaurant/bar areas are appropriate again for a business crowd but I'd rather find a more quaint location for an intimate retreat with my wife. Overall, this is not the best of Boston!

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights during a short visit to Boston. Upon leaving the train station we were met by people asking if we needed a taxi. They then tried to get us to use a 'flat rate' taxi for $35. This was rediculous as our hotel was only 2 .5 miles way. We ended up getting a metered cab for $12 - bit of a difference so watch out!The hotel is in Cambridge so just a little bit away from the centre of things but there's a metro station 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel which gets you t... My wife and I spent four days in Boston/Cambridge and the best views of the Boston skyline is from across the river in Cambridge. The hotel staff was professional, courteous, and welcoming. When most of the best hotels in town are sold out and you book another 4 star rated hotel in Boston and pay over a grand for two nights, you expect a good experience. First impressions of room 410: bathrooms are very small but a great view of the Charles River and Boston. On closer inspection, the ceiling in the bathroom had two large cracks and peeling point. Yes, there was a tag on the bottle which might have said that it costs $7.5. I think that they stopped short of doing a nice job on the bathrooms which are quite dated in terms of look and feel with old tubs and shower curtains. Fantastic staff especially Richard at the front desk and Seada at the Artbar- they make you feel so welcome that it was a pleasure to come back.

Very slow internet even with membership. Room was booked well in advance but still ended in the room without any view for 300$ per night. Not worth it. Staff has a weird sense of humor. I attended a conference in western tower but stayed in eastern tower, while people attending another conference in the eastern tower were in the western... Read more

What a beautiful hotel inside and out! My family of four came up to Boston for college visits and have stayed at Royal Sonesta hotels prior to this stay before. This one definitely solidifies our continuous return. The staff is awesome, especially Dawn @ front desk. Its right on the Charles River. Parking was convenient and lots to do within walking distance.

Arrived on 6th November for a week which included the election of a new president on the Tuesday. To be honest, you would have been hard pushed to know such a momentous event was happening without watching TV. Hotel is great with good and courteous service. My room seemed cold for the first two days but fine after that. Location is great but do try to get a room with a view. Room 819 had a small window looking out over the river and I could have done with some more daylight being there for a wee... Read more

We had a great time at the Royal Sonesta. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We got upgraded to a suite overlooking the Charles. I enjoyed the complementary wine very much, thank you! Our room was great, the pool was great, we the location around the corner from the Museum of Science was just perfect for us.

Convenient location on the river at the intersection of Cambridge and Boston. Close to Lechmere T station and Galleria. Spacious, clean, modern room, with comfortable bedding and high end amenities. Excellent HVAC, although could not change from heat to ac -- is centrally controlled. Fun, motion sensing floor lighting helps you find your way and gives a nice ambiance! Many restaurants and shopping near by....but not a quaint area, per se.

It was refreshing to see some changes at this establishment during my business meeting that extended into lunch and drinks. The property is laid out in a way that makes going back and forth from venue to venue easy, and it was good to see they did away with honey in community bowls for patrons to use in their teas. The lunch was very good as was the previous breakfast choice. It is close enough to Boston for a quick trip in to enjoy the Celtics or Bruins, or to head into the North End for a... Read more

When was the last time you showed up at a hotel and the staff let you have early check-in at 6:00 AM? Thanks to the thoughtful and helpful staff, I had a place to crash after an exhausting red-eye flight. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The rooms are nice and have more of a high-end feel to them than I expected. Hope to visit for pleasure instead of work next time. Seemed like a great location for a Boston sightseeing home base.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Royal Sonesta 2 weeks ago for a wedding. The location is amazing, we had a river view suite which was phenomenal, great amenities, comfortable bed, decent bathroom and again the view was lovely. We were a little disappointed in the customer service as we were trying to change our room and did not receive enough information from the front desk, we also did not feel very welcome when checking in. Otherwise, the location is great for traveling to Harvard and an easy... Read more

This hotel was absolutely amazing. My fiancé and I were in Boston for his 40th birthday and our celebration exceeded our expectations. We have stayed at many hotels in Boston and nothing compares to this amazing find. We don't normally ask for an upgrade, but this occasion called for it. Gigi was at the front desk and she not only accommodated that, she went above and beyond and was genuinely happy for us to choose this hotel to be our spot. She upgraded us to a beautiful, modern King suite wit... Read more

Overall I was looking forward to staying at the Royal Sonesta and had read great reviews about the hotel. However, the hotel let me down overall and despite some positives the overall experience was average. I only stayed for one night here, having joined my partner late due to work commitments. Positives: - Great view and reasonable location - Wide range of facilities - Pool and gym were good. Negatives: - Failed to change the name on the room despite me calling from the UK and then receivi... Read more

The Royal Sonesta is an excellent hotel located in Boston by the Charles River. The hotel is close to MIT and Harvard University. The hotel is quite luxurious and the service was amazing. The staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The beds are wonderful and the rooms very quiet. The room service was very good and exactly at the time we ordered it for. I highly recommend this hotel if you need to go to Cambridge

We had a conference in this hotel and we stayed for 2 nights. The location is perfect, right beside the Charles river and very close to MIT and other universities. Great to take a walk along the river. There is a mall across the street and a set of very good restaurants within walking distance. Rooms are clean and the view of river from the room is fantastic. There is a famous restaurant right in the hotel along with a coffee shop.

During my stay at the Royal Sonesta, I dropped my wallet outside my room door (with substantial cash in there). The next morning, the person giving me a wake up call told me that they had found my wallet and that I could come pick it up at the front desk. I was very impressed that I got my wallet back so quickly, safe and sound.

We had another excellent group stay with hundreds in attendance without a single complaint. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful from the people at the round about to the bellman who took care of bags in storage, to the front desk people at check in and out, to the waiters and bartenders. Service at the two function/meeting rooms was excellent. Rooms are excellently appointed with lots of electrical outlets and updated furniture. Bathrooms are a bit tight but well appointed. Conven... The location is adjacent to the Charles River with beautiful view and nice access to a walk/run path. Staff are very responsive and provided excellent services. They provided accurate directions, restaurant suggestions and parking options that we requested. A variety of food options are available right in the hotel. The decor is pleasing, up to date with wonderful areas to sit and visit on the main floor. Fitness center has plenty of options for work-out. No waiting for equipment availability. T... Read more

Thanksgiving Day at the Royal Sonesta Boston and dinner at the Artbar worked for all of us. The feast and hotel stay were perfect, and reasonably priced for the second consecutive year. Memories were created at the hotel and the surrounding area with a family swim, neighborhood walk and a visit to the Science Museum. It is becoming a "Tradition".

Our family stayed at the Royal Sonesta Boston for the first time over the Thanksgiving holiday and we couldn't have been happier! Staff were friendly and responsive. Rooms were large, clean, attractive, and full of amenities. Pool/fitness center are the largest and nicest I've seen at any hotel I've stayed in and I've traveled all over the world. And the location is unbeatable! Free happy hour for Travel Pass members was enough to get me to sign up! With adult children living in the area, w... Read more

The property was lovely (although I personally preferred their sister property Sonesta ES Suites Burlington Boston as it was a little more comforting, as opposed to this property. Suburbs vs the city). There are no microwaves in the rooms. You must ask for special arrangements, which I did not know going in and the staff was not helpful in getting this resolved. I had to go up the chain of command which took a little longer than I would have preferred.
