Excellent location! We parked the car with the hotels valet & didn't need it till we left. The rooms were extremely clean & bright. Every hotel employee we came in contact with were all extremely friendly & helpful !!! Unfortunately the hotel bar/restaurant was being renovated but they recommended so many awesome places to walk to. I would definitely go back here !!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, and we really enjoyed it! The room was very clean, modern, and I LOVED the toiletries! I usually don't care for the shampoo and conditioner in hotels, but the Molton Brown products they had were fabulous! The staff members we had contact with were equally fabulous. They were so kind and helpful, and I loved that there was a doorman to greet us. :) The location was wonderful! We really didn't take the T anywhere, because we were within walking dis... Read more

Loved our stay at the Ames! The rooms were cool and modern. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the location is PERFECT, if you are there to play tourist. Right next to Faneuil Fall/Quincy Market, 5-10 minute walk to Boston Commons one way, and 5-10 minute walk to the North End. Ubers were about $8 everywhere else. Will definitely stay here again.

Stayed just the one night on a recent business trip. The location is great, the room was modern with some nice little touches. Breakfast room was nice and I enjoyed the food, although have seen more extensive offerings. One thing that does annoy me is a good hotel that doesn't offer complementary water - charging $8 a bottle is a bit rich. Having said that, I would stay again next time I'm in town.

Lovely little boutique hotel, with very personable service. The location can't be beat -- across the street from the Old State House and only a few minutes walk from the Park Street T Station. The hotel felt intimate and elegant. Would absolutely stay there again.

Perfect spot in Boston, whether you're on business or a holiday. Housed in a heritage building the interiors are completely refurbished and wear a clean, pared down, contemporary hip look. Great big windows afford views of the buildings downtown, the bed is comfortable and linen is luxe. The Molton Brown toiletries are a nice indulgence. The double glazing ensures there are no street noises. The service was good, we requested a coffee maker in the room and they were prompt in delivering one. Whi... Read more

We stayed at the Ames while in Boston and really liked how boutique and trendt it was. High ceilings, open shower, large bathroom and close to everything. The guest service gentlemen were great however on our first night at 630 we got a call complaining of noise. We were only in our room for roughly 40 minutes getting ready (just my husband and I) and we had music playing on a small speaker we brought. It wasn't very loud at all and we got a call asking for it to be turned off. The call came in ... Read more

I got there a day early and had to work with two reservations but they allowed me to stay in the same beautiful room. I had a view of of the harbor and it couldn't have been sweeter! Close to major tourist attractions like Fanueil Hall, the Aquarium and the Boston Freedom Trail, the Ames Hotel is currently undergoing a lobby facelift. We stayed there the night of June 22nd in room 404. The room was clean and spacious. The only drawback was that the windows would not shut tightly and let in a lot of street noise which made for a sleepless evening. Additionally the subway is close by and every time a train passed by you could hear and even feel the train. Other then that I h... Read more

Hotel staff at the front are not very helpful. We cannot find the plug to connect the hard wire Ethernet cable (the hotel actually advertised itself for having this service!!!!) in our room. We tried to inquire the front desk staff but they had absolutely no clue and did not offer to help. They also charge an extra $16 on top of the $42 valet parking/night if you pick up your car after 2 pm. Paraphrased from a sign on the side of the building: "The building was built in 1889 and was then the tallest building in Boston. Built before iron was used in construction of skyscrapers, it's reinforced by nine-foot thick masonry walls." When I visited at the end of June 2016, the first floor was being remodeled so check-in was in the 2nd floor dining room. The front desk staff at check-in and check-out all seemed to be training but were friendly enough. The room was beautiful, very conte... Read more

I stayed here three nights on business. It's the third time I've stayed, and I continue to be impressed. Rooms are comfortable, large, and stylish, with great Molton Brown toiletries, large TV, good shower. Quick tip - call ahead to see if the renovation in the lobby + restaurant is complete. It wasn't noisy as they put me on the 15th floor, but it might have been had I been lower. Also renovation meant that check-in happens at an awkward small desk on the 2nd floor, and there's no bar/restaura... Read more

We stayed in what they call "The Apartment". We were blown away by the decor and cleanliness. If you are looking for modern sophistication with comfort and to be treated like royalty - stay at the Ames - specifically Room 904. Most amazing room with a view. Absolutely beautiful. Great service. Wonderful location. Thank you, Ames, for an incredible memory with the kids!

Admittedly we got a great deal but book #904 if you can. This was a fantastic find, close to everything you'll want to see in Boston and also close to the T and to Logan. Only piece of advice is to avoid expensive valet parking as there is a garage across the street for 1/3 the price. Friendly staff all around and again WOW, on room 904.

Situation : My husband and I travelled from San Diego to Boston (red eye) and reached the hotel a little too early (9am) while the check-in was 3 pm. Proposed Solution : They told us they could stow our luggage and try to get the room ready for us early and definitely give us a call before noon -- we were OK with that since we did show up way too early. The Ames Boston Hotel is a unique combination of being a very historical building with very contemporary, minimalist rooms. The location was great for us since my husband cannot do a lot of walking. It's near two "T" subway lines & lots of tourist sites, not to mention right by a stop on the Old Town (hop on, hop off) Trolley. The Ames is an old hotel that is currently undergoing renovation. It is nicely situated in Boston offering easy access to the city and harbour. At the time of my visit work was being done on the restaurant on the street the result of which there was builders rubber on the street and pavement near the entrance. For my purposes the hotel was fine and it was easy to board a taxi/uber in front of the entrance.

This very comfortable, stylish and boutique hotel is well worth the visit. Well located in Boston's downtown facilitates easy walking and access to everything needed. This hotel pays attention to the little touches that make a difference. The bath is opulent and the room a good size. Only minor downside was that my bathroom light didn't appear to work, but this really is a small issue (plus I haven't bought it to anyone's attention).

Was 30% cheaper than most 4 stars Boston hotels. The room was neat, modern (ok not greatest value furniture but new). Interesting glass-window shower in the room, unusual (not everyone may like but there's a window to keep intimacy). The lobby is small which is why they can't play in the higher league but when you're in the room, doesn't look much cheaper than other 4 stars, actualy perhaps better (fresher). Top location (restaurants, quincy market, bars). Would return.

My husband and I stayed here for the first long weekend away that we've had in years, due to starting a new business. The location couldn't be beat! You truly are steps from some of the most pivotal history of our country. While I understand that hotels have to update and upgrade, the fact that the restaurant, and lobby were closed and we were funneled through a dark hallway to a tiny elevator (the only one of two that were functioning, and maybe the slowest I've ever had!) to arrive at an ad-ho... The Ames is located across the street from the site of the Boston Massacre and the geographic center of the city. Although the T is steps away, you can walk to most Boston attractions. The rooms are very well appointed and most comfortable. My bed was new and the linens crisp. Good lighting and plenty of seating. My room on the top floor had fairly weak water pressure in the shower and that shower floor was lethally slippery. Those were the only negatives - not bad! I don't think the restaurant ... Read more

We recently spent 4 days in Boston, a city we had never visited before. We stayed at the Ames Hotel, which is situated right in the heart of historic Boston. We were within walking distance to many attractions. The hotel was very nice. Spacious rooms, ours had a great view of the city. Request higher floors to avoid busy street noise.
