I'll start with the positives:
The room was spacious, and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a fan, which most hotels lack, but it was nice to shower without all the steam fogging up the mirrors. I had a good nights sleep, once I was able to fall asleep. I thought since there was a wedding party going on in the ballroom, there would be a lot of racket as I have experienced in some other hotels, but I guess being on the 5th floor has its benefits. Check in was quick and efficient. The parking area offered quick access to the elevator, without having to walk all the way around to the front again. Breakfast buffet was fresh, hot and tasty. Coffee was immediately offered upon our arrival to the breakfast room. Though the server didn't ask if we wanted the buffet or a menu. Maybe most people take the buffet option since portion size is much easier that way. There was a fair amount of choices for breakfast including a pancake maker. The breakfast meats were kept to a nice hot temperature without being overcooked. The server checked on us often to see if we needed anything.
Now for the negatives:
We checked in and made our way to our room. When we arrived to the floor, we found the set up to be a little confusing as the room numbers were going in the opposite direction from the elevator, and didn't seem to be in any kind of numerical order - at least it seemed that way. When we got to our room, we found the door wide open, and heard a man's voice coming from within. It was a little startling at first, but then we thought maybe there was a mistake made. My husband went in and said hello - and the voice answered back. My husband asked if maybe there was an error with the room number given (as we thought maybe the room was already occupied). The man said there was not a mistake, but that he was just doing a repair. That was a little unnerving - especially since he was in the bathroom. he asked if we were here for the night, or the weekend, and we told him just the night. He said he was going to clean up and everything would be all set. After he left, I examined the bathroom wondering what kind of repair he was doing. It looked like he was repairing tiles or something in the shower. At least he didn't leave it a mess. Then I went to look out the large window and take a picture of the view as I like to do sometimes, but the windows were filthy. Not that I expected anything crystal clear, but I could barely see out the window at all.
We found the room to be very spacious, but it lacked extra seating options. The only places to sit were either the desk chair or the bed - though the room has adequate space for a chair or small sofa.
In the bathroom area, there was a large empty space that seemed like a complete waste, but perhaps if someone was staying for a long period of time it would be a nice place to store suitcases, or other belongings.
The large window located behind the television had curtains that were shear, and the drapes could not be closed, which I found unsettling. The other window on the other wall had drapes that could be closed. The room had two a/c units, which was a bit of an overkill when it came to that. When both were running at once it was a little louder than I like it to be, especially when trying to fall asleep at first. I turned one of them off in the middle of the night.
The mini refrigerator is always a plus, as some hotels don't offer them - but it was very wobbly when you open the door. While sitting at the desk I noticed something under the bed, and thought it was poop - yes poop. When I got up to take a closer look, I realize it was not poop, but one of the bed's feet, or pedestals, whatever you call them. Funny how this little thing was missed by whomever cleaned the room prior to our arrival. You'd think this would be seen since the bed is off the floor and the little foot thing was pretty much in plain site. Though it didn't seem to really affect the bed at all. Still a little unsettling that this was missed by housekeeping - or maintenance for that matter. It makes you wonder how thorough housekeeping actually is. I had to check the sheets to make sure they were actually clean before I slept in them.
All in all this hotel is average at best - 3 stars in my book. May or may not consider staying again. I mean, it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't fantastic either. At least the bed was comfortable. One more plus I forgot to mention was the ease of the free wifi; as most hotels require you to enter a password to access the wifi, this one automatically connects. And it actually works well too, another plus.
Maybe if I was on a business trip I would like this hotel a little more, but not so much for a vacation stay.
