Using a AAA discount, this was easily the most cost effective in expensive Boston lodging. Location in the theater district was convenient and also close to Chinatown restaurants. Bathroom was nicely redone, as was the large lobby with bar and separate sitting area. The room was smaller than most and did not have a mini fridge or safe but I was willing to trade that for paying less than $250 per night rather than over $300. Staff was friendly. Also liked the snack and sundry store on-site w... Read more

I booked this hotel because it is right across the street from the Wang Center, in the theater district. We would be attending our granddaughter's law school graduation, and since I have some mobility issues, the hotel seemed like the best choice. Every staff person we met was lovely. No complaints there. The room was clean, but very small. I asked for an 'accessibe shower' to walk into (not climb over a tub) and that's what I got, but there was no way to keep the water from just about filling t... Read more

I have never stayed in a hotel that left complimentary earplugs on the bedside table. Earplugs and a note wishing us a good night's sleep, along with a coupon to scan to download free white noise. And with good reason! We could hear cell phones ringing in the adjacent rooms, and some serious Saturday night street noise - through a closed window on the 7th floor. Also: THIS WAS THE SMALLEST HOTEL ROOM I HAVE EVER SEEN. The bed takes up virtually the whole room. And it's a QUEEN. I'm 5'8" and I ... Read more

Top hotel in terms of location. This time unlike my previous stay they actually had running water this time. The room is spotless and very quite despite being central. But the hotel is poor value for money. No in room safe, no fridge. The breakfast was dull and tasteless. No business centre. Considering the cost this place barely makes the grade. The Seaport Hotel is a much better deal for the price

No hotel shuttle but only a short trip from Boston Logan Airport by taxi costing $35, including tip. Checking in was a breeze helped by very friendly and efficient reception staff. Our time of arrival was roughly 3am UK time so we were somewhat travel weary. Somehow I managed to"lose" the credit card I checked in with. I discovered it was missing in our 11th floor bedroom and went back down to reception to see if it was there. After a thorough search no sign of it. One of the reception guys, Wil... Read more

The property is clean and staff very good. Food that was served in meetings and also the restaurant breakfast was very good. The room was much smaller than expected. Typical lower end hotel as far as iron and ironing board quality. ALL of the outlets in the room were loose - like wiggled off the wall loose. Great TV. Good lighting. In the center of the theater district. 2 mile walk to Fenway - safe city. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area.

In the theatre district, close to Chinatown and the common, an excellent location for getting around the old part of Boston. The rooms are small, but comfortable and clean, but most have no view, the inside rooms face each-other. It can be a bit noisy, but it is in the middle of a city. The staff are very helpful, and the hotel is well maintained. There is a bar, and a small eating area for breakfast and dinner, but no lunch. The gym is very small, but adequate. Check in was quick and the staff are friendly. We were given a corner room which is slightly larger than average rooms, which was appreciated. We stayed at Courtyard Boston Downtown for 4 nights while attending a conference. The rooms had recently been upgraded and were tastefully decorated for practicality, such as multiple open shelfspaces, and spacious bathrooms with glass doors, and the paint schemes of the room walls made the rooms look more inviting and looked more like an upscale hotel. This is the second time I have had to stay here for a work "retreat" and I hope that I will not need to stay here again next year. Here is what you should be able to expect in a courtyard Marriott: friendly service, hot water, a working room key, and edible food. But six months ago and again in June, they didn't deliver on these basic things. I got over the fact that the water was cold, I dealt with the fact that I had to go back to the Lobby three times to get a new key, but I can't get over t... Read more

This hotel fell far short of the minimum standards you would expect for any Courtyard Marriot. The hotel is next door to a nightclub, which was blasting its bass the night we checked in. The lobby was rattling, and unfortunately, so was our 9th floor room. I was up until 3 am because of the noise. First time in Boston and picked this location given the location and the price. We have stayed at Courtyards in NYC but this was a shock. The other comments about the hotel having small rooms are true. This is probably the smallest hotel room we have ever been in. It was very cramp for two adults. No luggage stand was provided since there wasn't enough space for one. The only chair was at the desk. If you need to have more than just a bed and a desk, spend the money and stay at another place.

This hotel is in a great downtown location, but I don't think I have ever squeezed into such a tiny room, even in NYC. There was not even room for a bathroom door to open out or in, so it had a sliding door that clearly did not fit the doorway--it didn't have a lock on it nor would close all the way. You had to turn sideways to get around the bed past the TV to get to the tiny bathroom. I clearly did not get one of the "spacious" rooms described by other reviewers. With a rate of $279, it was ... I made a reservation at the courtyard Marriott on 27th August and was guaranteed a room. Unfortunately, there was no room upon my arrival. I was told by the front desk that in will be put up at the Westin. Having checked in at 11pm, this was the start of a very unpleasant experience. This causes great inconvenience to me because I have arranged for my car to be parked near Courtyard and have an early appointment the next day. I arrived late at night thinking i will be able to rest immediately a... Read more

It's not your typical Courtyard where you get a refrigerator in the rooms but it has everything you need. The staff are fantastic. The assistant general manager was fantastic with her tips and suggestions. The hotel is central to most attractions as well.

Located in the theatre district. Efficient check-in och check-out. Hotel is newly refurbished but is already a bit worn out. Small rooms. Friendly staff. Restaurants nearby. Inhouse Starbucks is fantastik for breakfast. In room coffee maker is a plus.

Stayed here for two nights after a cruise. Room was small-had a king bed but little extra room for seating. OK for one person and we managed but closet space was limited. Bath was nice and roomy, though. Good location and close to subway, park, restaurants and within walking distance of lots of things

Not the normal Courtyard you would expect. Rooms are small, older but clean. Obviously this was another hotel chain at some time. Price was good but we booked the room 8 months in advance. Location is in the theater district. Close to a stop for the Gray Line hop on hop off bus.

A very nice hotel close to the theater district. Friendly staff, outgoing. The lobby was modern, sleek and nice. They were popping popcorn when we arrived for Monday night football. The bar was fun to watch the game. Nice rooms, clean and cozy.

This is an old Elks club, with an elegant lobby, and it's been redecorated using lots of gray, white and black. The front desk staff was very nice indeed, very patient with my friends and me who had lots of questions. I was in an 11th floor suite. There is no concierge service, and the 15th floor lounge has a television, the business center, and lots of cold bottled water, but that's about it, no bar, no food service. Breakfast is a buffet, or one can get Starbucks and muffins at the bar. Not mu... Read more

Disappointed for a Courtyard. the rooms were extremely small, but met my overall need. There is no room service, so if you plan to spend the night in after a long day--you have to walk to get something to eat. The shower was small for the price, maybe because it was Boston? it was a bit noisy as well

I stayed at this hotel for a week while I was in Boston for a conference. The property is beautiful. The hotel has been recently renovated with a black and white, modern theater vibe and it is very well done. We asked for an upgrade and were upgraded to the 15th floor. The room was plenty large enough, especially considering you are in Boston. The staff was friendly and held a wine and dessert event with very tasty french wine. There is a bar in the lobby where you can order a drink and a snack.... Read more

Ill start with bad stuff: The rooms really are THAT small. And don't look for any real dining option. As far as Courtyards go, this one gets to be part of the club by location only: we had concert tix at the Wang directly across the street, and walked the Common and Newbury street from here. The good stuff?...totally the staff. Well run place, courteous people from front desk, valet, to Bartenders. We really appreciated the people who work there, but I will probably search a little harder... Read more

Due to a family emergency I needed to stay near Tufts Medical Center. From the moment I checked in until I left I was made to feel like family. David Ofshay took such good care of us while Tufts was taking care of our daughter. I cannot thank you enough for how you made us feel.

Over the year, I've had different trips that happened to result in me staying at Courtyards. I normally like to stay at Westins. But let's face it, Westins prices are high - especially in cities. Since I was staying for an entire week in downtown Boston for work, I wanted to be fiscally responsible and chose to stay at a Courtyard. My Courtyard experiences were great this year except none of them were in downtowns of big cities. I assumed this stay would be different and wouldn't be very ni... Read more

We stayed here for a visit and the rooms were so tiny and dark it was unsettling. The lobby is beautiful the bar is amazing(especially the bartender) but the rooms are the downfall but from what I hear all rooms in Boston downtown area are pretty small. Everything is close to this hotel its super convenient.

Stayed here for the weekend to meet up with family staying at The Ritz. It was only a few block walk to get to their hotel as well as the Commons and many different restaurants. It is located in the heart of the theater district. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated. The shower size for our room was a bit small, so if you are a large person you may want to ask about that when you make your reservation. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel rooms are spacious and almost an efficiency apartment. Some problems were noted with my room however. There was an unsealed window in the bedroom which let in air and noise. I told this to the housekeeper and she acknowledged the problem. She also said she reported it earlier but nothing had been done. The closet door was off track and I had trouble getting the ironing board out. A couple of tacks were coming out of the carpeting so I had to wear shoes. (An acquaintance experienced the... Read more

Although the location is convenient, the room size is tiny. I cant even imagine how two people could functionally maneuver in the room. The bathroom is very reminiscent of that found on a cruise ship - tiny is generous. Staff is friendly, location is good, but even for a major urban hotel, this was a substandard size accommodation.

Rooms are very small. No vanity mirror with magnifying. Cable TV went out every night of a 4 night stay. Last night of my stay at 12:30 am a full hotel evacuation due to a faulty generator. Communication was awful. All in all the price is too much for this property. Good location , comfy beds , nice house cleaning.... would not go back .

I've stayed here several times to attend many different venues in that area of Boston. It's so easy to find, and the valet attendants are very nice. Parking is a bit expensive though. The hotel is clean, the front desk staff is friendly and the bar tenders are also wonderful. Some rooms are better than others, as far as layout. I would suggest a higher floor on weekend nights because the music and bass from nearby clubs can be heard/felt. I will continue to stay here every time I am in that area... Read more

I typically stay at other Marriott properties in Boston, but they were sold out so I had to try something new this time. I found the Courtyard to be conveniently located and easy to get to. A short walk from the financial district where I needed to be. I had a high floor (15) room which seemed recently renovated. The bathroom was quite large and well designed. The room itself was well appointed and on the larger side for most Courtyard's I have stayed in and had a massive flat screen tv to ... Read more

We stayed here for a football weekend and the location was excellent. However, the rooms are some of the smallest we have ever stayed in for a Marriott property. $400.00 per night!! They told us we had been upgraded to a nicer room...I would hate to see what the first option was because this was NOT an upgraded room... Friendly front desk service though and a wonderful location for visiting Boston.

The location was great and the front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. The rooms are "cozy" (the hotel was built in the 1920s) but it didn't bother us too much since we were only here to sleep. The only problem I had was the noise from the ambulances during the night. I'm a light sleeper and I was woken up a few times in the night.

There are a lot of features about this hotel that are not purely in line with what I think when I think Courtyard -- the decor isn't drab, the location isn't in the hood, and the rooms are not outdated. These features are much flaunted on the website. As such, I felt justified in paying a higher-than-Courtyard room rate for what I thought would be a higher-than-Courtyard experience. Unfortunately, the 'above and beyond' features stopped there. The rooms really are very small (I guess I had convi... Read more

This hotel is right by Boston Common and a short walk to an orange line stop. We used the subway a lot and it was really handy to be so close. Nice old hotel. Believe this hotel use to be the Tremont Hotel. Rooms are not that big. bathroom are small. Limited space in the rooms. Struggled to control the the temp. If I wasn't using points I probably would;t stay here. Rooms need work, patches of paint flaking from the ceiling. Workers are nice but not your typical Marriott property. Plenty of room to hang out in the lobby. Televisions and tables in each room. Across the street from Tufts.

We stayed one night at this hotel and while the room was small, they make good use of the space and it was clean and comfortable. The location is perfect -- just minutes from Boston Common and a short walk to Quincy Market. If you don't plan to use your car, you can park right across the street in the Tufts parking garage for $34/day. Or you can pay the $53 valet parking fee for the hotel, but we saw no need to do that since we planned to walk everywhere. the hotel was easy to find right off of ... Read more
