If you want to share your pool with outsiders and have no parking then stay here otherwise don't! Poorly managed hotel! Not worth the money. You are paying for an outdoor pool that anyone can use. People off the street are walking in the hotel washing in the lobby bathrooms. Very disappointed in this hotel!

Only 2 things hold me back from a 5 star review and that's the parking and the fact that the staff do not have their own elevator for their cleaning carts etc. We actually lucked out and got a spot in the hotel parking lot the first night because someone left. If you miss one in the lot you have to park across the Coastal Highway. So, we decided to bus it all day, so we wouldn't lose our spot. The hotel itself is great! Both pools (indoor and out) have their own bar and food which the kids and u... Read more

I spent one night here for a conference onsite. Pros: outside wall has huge window and room had a great view of the ocean from one direction and the bay from the other, hotel is on the ocean, room is huge. Cons: hotel seemed over-priced. Granted all of OC was more expensive than I expected for off-season in early May, too cold to be outside, boardwalk closed when I went there, and town seemed to be a bit of a ghost town except for those at conference. Furnishings were in nice shape, but dated. ... Read more

The Clarion could use a facelift in some common areas. However it has a great beach vibe with its beach bar, pool area and terrace. There's even drink service on the beach and good menu outdoors. During Memorial Day weekend the outdoor bar closed at 9 and activity moved inside. I wasn't so crazy about the hotel nightlife - skewed to senior citizens definitely. That said the afternoon and early evening outdoor crowd was younger and fun. You step right out on the beach which is a nice plus o... Read more

Recently stayed there for Memorial day weekend. The hotel needs updating. The lobby, the rooms and especially the restaraunt. I thought I was stuck in the 1970's. I actually saw two young couples walk out of the main restaraunt and smile and say to me. " Wow, this is not for us...from the decor to the vibe, etc". The rooms are musty and old. The bar area was nice and the beach. The outdoor pool was tooooo small and the indoor pool was better but had a funny smell. The maid for room #704 ... Read more

I'm a very picky traveler, so I was pleased that I was not at all disappointed in my stay here. The staff was efficient and friendly, from the front desk to the servers in the banquet hall. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the linens and towels were of good quality. The towels were nice and fluffy and a decent size - it's definitely the little things that make the stay nice. I was there on business for a conference, which included 3 meals. The food was outstanding in every way -... Read more

I recently stayed at the Clarion for a wedding over memorial weekend. My experience was fine with regards to the accommodations. I accidently left a very expensive pair of earings in the room when I checked out and did not realize it until the next day. I was happy to find that housekeeping had found the earings and had quickly locked them in the hotel safe. They were very responsive in finding them for me and sending them to me FedEx. We have just returned from our 4th Baltimore Raven's Beach Bash at the Clarion Resort and cannot wait until next year. Each year, this event gets better and better. Valerie does an awesome job planning and organizing the weekend. The bar staff and restaurant staff do a fantastic job and they always smiling. Two who stick out were Nate and Cassie; the outside bar where they were working, got busier and busier and they made everyone feel comfortable, relaxed and kept us well hydrated. The band tha... I stayed here for a work conference. Overall the facility was very nice. My only issue was that it was not widely advertised that they are a pet friendly hotel which is great for anyone who loves pets but horrible for someone who is allergic to cats and dogs like myself. I was not aware that there were pets in the facility until after I checked out and saw several dogs roaming freely in the lobby. By the 2nd day of my stay, my allergies were so bad I lost my voice. The Clarion has a very nice staff. The problem is the rooms and lobby need a total update. If this ever happens, engineered hardwood in the guest rooms would be great along with sleeker more modern furnishings that would be brighter and lighter. The hallway area by my room had the unmistakable scent of animal urine (I did not have a pet) In addition, against the hallway wall near the elevators were dirty dishes that were not removed. I noticed the dishes at 4:20 PM. At 10:30 PM, the dishes w... Read more

The staff are amazing, but the hotel needs a major face-lift. I realize that beach hotels take a lot of abuse, but for the price you pay at this hotel you would expect more. It is pet friendly (which is awesome), however the entire hotel has dark thick carpet throughout and I cannot only imagine the pet waste that may be soiling those fibers (which is not so awesome). A few suggestions that would be nice to see in a remodel... manufactured hardwood-great for sand cleanup and animal accident... Read more

I requested an ocean front room and was told all the rooms were. This isn't true as the hotel sits perpendicular to the beach. If you step out on the very small balcony (to small for even a chair) and look to the side you can see the ocean. On our floor, our room was the furthest from the ocean. This resulted in a view of the busy 6 lane highway that bisects OC. The location of the hotel is in North OC. There is very little within walking distance as most of OC's attractions are in South OC. I went there on business. The room was very comfortable. I was there for a conference. The location could have been slightly better. If you wanted to go outside and find some shops or a different restaurant you would have to walk a bit further than I would want. Other than that the staff was nice, the restaurant appeared to be nice. The gift shop was good too.

I stayed here 3 days for a work conference. The rooms are decent, the staff was pleasant and it's located away from the busy strip. Mini micro fridges in the room. Direct access to the beach w/ food options close by as well. If you don't mind walking, leave the car parked and see what the area has to offer. I would stay again.

Loved it. So family friendly, a lot of activities and services available, nice atmosphere, beautiful beach. However, the outdoor pool was very small and packed with a lot of children. Someone even pooped in the pool once and everyone had to get out. I'm not saying it's the hotel's fault or anything but hear things just affect your overall experience. They fail to tell you that they have rooms without balconies and with obstructive views which are roofs that apparently collect beer bottles, cans, cigarette butts, trash and even dirty towels. The hotel itself is not bad, but the maintenance needs serious improvement. I travelled here with my puppy and we were placed on a pet floor. I did not mind this other than the fact that you could smell all of the previous pets in the room. It seems like they never thoroughly clean the room. In addition to this, there were flies everywhere. Again, it is not a bad hotel, but it is simply run and down and frankly quite gross. My most recent time staying was not my first, but it was my last.

Since I had never been to ocean city before, I had no idea where to stay. I wanted to be where the action was. Once i got there, I found the streets are numbered 1 to 100's. The boardwalk (where all the action is) goes from 1 to 27th street and is about 2 1/4 miles long. The fontainebleau hotel is located at 101 street. It was quite a distance to the boardwalk. Nevertheless, the hotel was nice. It was expensive since i made the reservations only a few weeks before arrival. It did hav... Read more

Checked in the day after Labor Day. The rates were cheaper and the weather was still sunny and in the 90's. Some parts of the hotel could use a face lift. Other parts were more modern. I really enjoyed my stay here. It had everything I needed for a 4 day beach vacation. Check in is at 4 Check out at 11 We ate 2 meals outside of the hotel. If your looking for a ocean view hotel here's the hidden secret behind it. Every room within the hotel has an ocean view because the hotel is sideways looking ... Read more

My room was the worst. 3 ac units just outside the room, was my view. Not the Ocean. Fun listening to that all night. The bathroom was dirty from previous guest including shaver hair - you don't want to know. One bed was made but suspect the sheets were not changed. I kept my socks on since the floor/carpet was filthy! Animals were the surprised visitors. No wonder the place was so dirty!!!! Will never stay again.

Stayed here as part of a conference springtime week. Location was fairly well north of the action but an easy Uber ride up and down the strip. Facility was old but clean and the staff was friendly. Balconies didn't offer direct on views of the ocean and weren't very large, but it was nice weather to open the patio door.

This place has alittle bit of everything! Right on the beach, great drinks, a wonderful and reasonably-priced breakfast buffet, indoor and outdoor pool, gym, sauna, steam room and whirlpool! They also play great music in the restaurant and hallway/elevator!

Very nice place. Staff was friendly and helpful. Let us use the pool and sauna room until our room was ready. I will definitely stay there again if I go back to ocean city. Price was not bad either. Room was clean and comfortable. Close to ocean also.

Stayed here last week, coinciding with Bikefest. first time here and overall thought it was a pretty nice place. Obviously older but kept up nice. Room was clean except for some random long black hairs on the bathroom wall. Not a big fan of the small balcony but our room had a nice view of the ocean and bay. Glad we went north as it was very loud with motorcycles the further south you went. Didn't realize it was Bikefest until after we planned and booked the trip. Had drinks in the bar tw... Read more

It was a surprise to arrive and find it was Biker Week! The staff including the maids, were friendly and helpful. it's right on the beach. We had a very small balcony. We paid a conference rate of $170 per night. NOT WORTH IT. The room was clean except for the A/C. Everything is dated, the bathroom only had one set of outlets and the top one didn't work. The grid work on the dropped ceiling in the bathroom was quite rusted. Water pressure in bathtub was low. Screen door on the glass ... Read more

Property was run down, needs renovations, looks better online, Buffet was over priced and not good. Cold stale food. Outdoor bar not open. Not worth 250 dollars a night. Balconies do not directly face ocean and and only large enough to stand out on or just use one chair

We had a wonderful time. Room was clean and comfortable. Had side view of ocean from small balcony but enough to know you were at the ocean. Everyone was very helpful. I would stay here again. They loved my Cuddles.( 5 lb Maltese.)

Every time I come, I eat at Horizons' buffet. They have the BEST chefs! The snow crab legs were HUGE and their prime rib melts in your mouth. I had prearranged for snacks to be in my room upon arrival: great champagne and huge strawberries coated in DELICIOUS chocolate were waiting in our room. The FOOD and room CLEANLINESS far outweigh the outdated decor by leaps and bounds! I HIGHLY recommend Clarion Fountainebleau!

First, front desk staff was not friendly at all. Next, we got up to our room (which was not quite as described) and the AC did not turn on at all. Had to call and have maintenance fix it. The "balcony" was one of the saddest I've even seen. You could not even get a chair out there. The showers were not hot at all - not even lukewarm - had to be one of the worst showers I have ever taken. Plumbing was not good either. The toilet clogged and overflowed after my 8 year old went to the bathro... Read more

After an extremely rough night we arrived at the Clarion Resort in Ocean City, MD. Not only were we warmly welcomed and made to feel comfortable but the entire staff did the same for our service dogs. The room was extremely comfortable and spacious with a fridge and microwave and the view of the beach is gorgeous and calming. It is not oceanfront but fully visible without standing on one toe and leaning left on the balcony. The dog park is safe and our dogs were comfortable using it. We took... Read more

I stay here frequently due to the conference facilities. I have to say my last experience was poor. However, the front deck manager, Gerri, has restored my confidence. My company neglected to complete my reservation and Gerri went out of her way to make my reservation and experience and less stressful as possible. She even ensured that my credit card was not double charged due to our booking error. She was very patient with us and extremely kind. We will be back, Gerri! Thank you from the SHRM ... Read more

Medium sized hotel that has been here a while. And though the decor in the main areas is dated, the place is clean and the staff is friendly. Rooms are normal size and updated, with the bath rooms a little on the small size. Double Beds are not queens size and may be tight to fit two adults. Most rooms do have a view of the ocean and have an outdoor ledge to stand on but not sit. There is Direct access to the beach and ample parking. Nice indoor and smaller outdoor pool. Stayed here for my 50th high school reunion. Rooms weren't very clean. Prices in lounges were high as hell! $19.45 for one drink and one beer, because there was a 3rd rate local band playing. Food is not very good. No covered parking (which was nice with a hurricane passing through. Room prices were high for being the off season (October).

I stayed a few days at the clarion for a car show and was a little disappointed with the so called free wifi. It took forever to get it to work, through no help from the service desk. When I finally got connected my speed was 0.06 Mbps, I believe dial up was quicker than that. It kept timing out when I was using it so it was useless. I called the desk and was told there was nothing that could be done. My other problem was the in room safe. It would not open, a security guy came in said the batte... Read more

I stayed for a conference. The rooms were dated and not very clean. I could hear the elevator all night and at 2:30am I heard the staff having a conversation outside my room and they were so loud I thought they were in my room. One of the game machines on the game room was broken, we told the front desk staff and all they did was say " yeah we know" there wasn't a sign on the machine nor did they offer a refund of our money.

This hotel is sad. Most of the prior reviews are correct; dated decor, filthy rugs, sketchy wi-fi and dark, worn rooms. Holes in the walls, walls in desperate need of painting and rugs that have see better days. The one thing that saved the hotel was the staff. Everyone i encountered was really friendly and helpful. If these people had a hotel that they could be proud of they would shine even more! I hope that Clarion reads these reviews and does something about a hotel that COULD be a jewel o... Read more

I have been coming to the Clarion in Ocean City, Md for many years. The location is very good, the staff seem to be friendly but the facility itself is getting "dated". It just feels old and tired. I recently stayed in this hotel for only two nights. At first I thought I just got bit twice as a result of something minuet. However, the second night I awakened terrified and upset that I had approximately 81 bites all over my body (red, itching, swelling). The room was extremely dark and lighting extremely dim. Furniture is outdated. I felt like I'd stayed at a motel. I will never, ever, ever stay here again! Lesson learned. I would share pictures, but not like this.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on 11/11/16. We checked into our room and then left for the evening. The room itself looked fine but I agree with others about the rooms being very dark. The beds in the room are the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on in a hotel. This will be my last visit to the Clarion. The hotel was overall dirty, the room had an odor, and we were told all the rooms face out to the Ocean - ours didn't. The Thanksgiving meal that was served left alot to be desired. The food was cold, and it tasted like the veggies came from a can. We had a five o'clock sitting and there were hardly any desserts left. The hotel needs to shape up or it won't stay in business for long.

Knowingly reserved the least expensive room with downside being restricted ocean view. Not informed about the kennel atmosphere. We were awakened by a barking dog in the next room each day. No ice machine on the floor.
