Staying at Howard Johnson was okay. The Jacuzzi tub was very nice. The bed was a full instead of a queen but still comfortable. The continental breakfast was not pleasing at all. Staff was pleasant though. I kept being awoken by other sounds from outside of my room.

Overall clean except cigarette holes and marks on the bedspread and a cigarette hole in my sheet. Room was non-smoking but smelled as though it was masked with fragrance to cover up previous smoking. Personnel staff were very nice. At $65 per night I guess one cannot complain.

The biggest complaint is that when we checked in to the hotel, three lights in our room were not working -- the one over the doorway, the one over the in-room mirror, and the one over the bathroom mirror. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk, nothing was done. Further, the bedspread had a hole in it, some of the electrical outlets did not work, the room's full-length mirror was cracked, and the toilet constantly ran on. The complimentary breakfast was minimal but more important... Read more

This was a terrible stay and an absolute waste of Rewards points. We will never stay here again. The property is run down and unkept. The carpets and comforters, the furniture and the bathrooms - all very old and deteriorated. This Howard Johnson should be an embarrassment to the Wyndham Hotel chain - just like The Knights Inn on Security Boulevard in Baltimore. Please don't ever stay here - you are exposed to prostitutes and drug dealers and an overall unsafe environment.

Upon arriving at the hotel we were great by a friendly, smiling face and was allowed to check in before the stated time. The hotels decor and ambiance was dated. Upon entering our non smoking room it looked well maintained. However, after further inspection the duvet cover had burn holes in multiple spots and the white sheets had a few discolorations on them. The floor had random sticky spots and the shower curtain wouldn't close all the way allowing water to get all over the bathroom. The poo... Read more

My overall stay was ok simply because I was there with my bff which made the stay an absolute blast and most of the staff was very friendly that being said I've never stayed in a hotel that didn't have a restroom in or near the lobby for guest to use whom traveled such long distance to stay there that's totally unacceptable, but if your looking for an ok lay over then I guess its not so bad.

This is not the place to stay if you're on vacay and visiting others, or if you're germophobic. We're the sort of travelers that seek the best value for acceptable lodging, and that's what we got at Howard Johnson in Pikesville. Don't get me wrong -- we like luxury once in awhile, but we save those luxury hotel stays for special occasions... so they feel more special. We're repeat lodgers at HoJo Pikesville, for our frequent family visits to the area, and this last stay was better than most. This hotel is great if you just need some place to sleep. The bathrooms are fairly clean, they service continental breakfast, bed is comfortable and the staff is pretty nice. The issues come with cigarette burns on the blankets (even for non-smoking rooms), all sockets do not work (so bring an extension cord) microwave and frig are not in the rooms ($5 each a day if you them) and the furniture falling apart.
