When we booked our room, we booked an Ocean View suite, but when we checked in they told us that it some how got changed to Bay view suite. This is not what we booked and I showed him the email with confirmation. He said "but the room is really nice." After checking into the room, which was nice BTW, it was not what we paid for and thus insisted that we get Ocean View that we booked. Finally, after getting the run around, we got switched. As we were waiting the same thing happened to anothe... Read more

We went to the hotel for my daughters 13th birthday. It was two adults and four children, two of which are 3 years old. It was a nice, clean place to stay, very convenient to the boardwalk, beach, stores, etc. This was a time that not a lot of people were there, week May 6-13th. Someone pulled the fire alarm twice while we were there, once at night and the other first thing in the morning. There were teenage kids that stayed in a few rooms above us, were very loud, played music very late, we had... Read more

Dump room, shower didn't work correctly (almost no water)room smelled funny, had an open electrical panel next to entrance door (total code violation) . The list is extensive. We reserved an efficiency, received a std room, staff told us that was their efficiency and blamed it on Expedia. We usually stay at the days in next door, and we will be from now on! Completely dissatisfied. Staff not willing to make it completely right. Hotel has 133 rooms or more and only 100 parking spots in thr... Read more

The hotel is mostly very nice. It is directly on the boardwalk, and the room was well designed, and reasonably well maintained, although the sofa bed was definitely showing its age. We booked an efficiency, which allowed us to save money by preparing several meals in out room. The staff was unfailingly polite and cheerful. On the other hand, there was no request that we made which wasn't met with some kind of obstacle. We asked for extra pillows; there were none. We asked for extra towels; ther... Read more

We stayed here last week when the hotel was a little slower. We loved it! Our room was very spacious and clean. I felt comfortable letting my young daughter run around the room bare foot. The staff was nice and seemed to always be on top of things. We will definitely be back.

I emailed the hotel to try and have some of these issues resolved but it has now been 5 days and I have not heard back. I stayed at the hotel, in the Oceanfront building, from 5/27-5/30/16. When I first checked into the room I first noticed the condition of the bathroom. The vanity and shower rod were falling apart, there were cracks everywhere and the shower rod was splitting apart. There was no stopper in the bathtub, and the fan did not work. Saturday morning I called for room service, and wa... Read more

I booked this hotel for one night stay, I traveled with my wife and our 5 month old daughter for Ravens Bash. Hotel located at 5th street, so it's right at boardwalk (next to Hooters). We had with partial ocean view room on 4th floor. Room was clean, it had two king bed, decent size bathroom and a balcony with partial ocean view. Check-in was easy, if you arrive early and your room is not ready, then just park at the hotel parking...they usually check for parking permit signs at night time. Wha... Read more

I chose Tidelands because of the location. I've stayed much further up on the boardwalk before with my husband but since we were bringing our 6-year-old daughter with us we decided to stay closer to the rides, games, arcades, etc. Our room was extremely stuffy. So humid and hot. We had no idea how to work the air conditioner and I actually called down to the front desk because I thought it was broken. I was told we needed to put a hotel key into a slot to get it to turn on which we weren't told ... Read more

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.. Hey, DID I SAY AWFUL... started out not having our reservation right because I booked on hotels.com and said we would pay at the hotel which they charged my card beforehand. Then get to our room to these pictures, awful.. then the a/c doesn't work so we call maintenance, he sends a housekeeper back to our room with a note that it can't be fixed until the next day.... next day still isn't fixed! Tried to leave the patio doors open but young teenagers were partying hard, so t... Read more

It's decent. Hotel could definitely use upgrades. Due for some renovations. Booked a pool view suite, ended up with a street view. Very loud teens on the balcony late at night. It's definitely one of he better places to stay on the boardwalk.

so we were booked short notice, we booked a partial ocean view, which was not bad it overlooked the hooters and faced other hotels, we arrived at 6 or 7pm, pulled up to an empty lobby with a gated pulled, no problem some told us to go to the other entrance, which was not to bad as that was the building we were staying in, no doorman, quick check in, no carts or bellman visible or offered. we make our way up to the room, it was a good size two king beds, no chairs or tables, you essentially had t... After getting an email saying they have changed hands, we decided to give it one more shot. Much better this time. The rooms could use some upkeep. The staff was very helpful this time. My suggestion is to book through them and not a third party site. The site we used messed up twice that week, putting people in Bayside rooms. The staff fixed the problem with no hassles. Plenty of towels and linens this time. I will be back again.

Tideland Caribbean is located in a great spot at the heart of the boardwalk. If I was giving a rating based off location alone, it would easily be a 5/5. Sadly I think the cons outweigh the pros. I'll start off with the parking situation- there is limited parking underneath the hotel, and usually full. There is designated parking across the busy street which is close by, although for many people this can be an inconvenience. Our room was ready at 4pm (we arrived early at noon and they kindly o... We went to Ocean City for the weekend for my husbands birthday. We chose the Tidelands because of their 2 room suites since we have 3 children, 2 of which are teenagers. It just so happened that we only ended up bringing our 1 younger son, so we debated changing our hotel mostly because of the bad reviews. We decided that we would stay because of the great location and getting closer to the weekend, nothing was less expensive. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised and wanted to say s... The hotel is very nice. The rooms are beautiful and I love that the rooms are all tile. Beds were comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony. This hotel is in a great location. Parking is not the best. There are limited parking spots at the hotel and close to the hotel. It is first come, first serve to get a parking spot and if you don't luck out with a convenient spot you will need to walk more than a few blocks. At most beach hotels we would keep our beach chairs, etc in the car ... Read more

My boyfriend, 4 year old son and I started at this hotel from June 29 through July 1. Upon arrival I read the reviews for the hotel which were not that great but because of the location I decided to give it a try anyway. We stayed in the second building in a poolside view room on the third floor. The room itself was better than expected. Like other reviews stated it was very much outdated and quite dusty to say the least. The over the stove light did not work as well as several other lamps in th... Read more

This is a nice hotel conveniently located on the boardwalk. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The parking could be better but this is not unusual for this part of OC. We didn't have any problems and will return since it is good place to stay in a great location on the beach.

I was hesitant to book a night at Tidelands Caribbean Hotel based on previous reviews. However, my family and I were VERY impressed with the location, room size (two rooms separated by kitchen/bath--each with a king bed), view (partial bay/ocean), cleanliness, comfort, free parking... Front Desk and Housekeepking staff were extremely helpful and professional. I didn't arrive expecting perfection--but I was pleasantly surprised. We were excited yet apprehensive to choose this hotel this year. For the past several years, we stayed at another Carousel Group hotel, Crystal Beach, down on 25th Street. This year, we decided to try staying closer to the hustle and bustle. We booked an Ocean Front room, and the view did not disappoint! Our room was clean and nice, but showed age. We didn't expect brand new and were pleased with the first impressions of the hotel. Parking was challenging, but we knew that coming into it becaus... Read more

Water pressure is equivalent to watering can. Hope you like cold showers. Air Conditioning is tempermental (see picture below -hallway thermometer reading at 78 degrees). Both stove burners in the kitchenette were broken. No toilet paper. 4 towels supplied for a six person suite. Outdated. No free parking spaces available our entire stay. Wil... Read more

Right on the Boardwalk, this seemingly small hotel offers ocean view rooms as well as non-view ones. Let me start with the great things this hotel have. The location is perfect! It is right smacked in the middle of Ocean City's Boardwalk. The staff is outstanding, the parking facilities, plenty. The rooms, well, let's talk about the rooms because there are things the traveler needs to know. We stayed in an ocean front efficiency with two Queen beds and a sleeper sofa. Ocean front it is but kind ... Read more

My family and I went with my wife's parents and sister and brother in law. We had one suite, if that's what you'd call it, they had another. From all appearances online, this place looks wonderful. But don't be fooled by what the ads tell you. Trust those of us that have experienced it first hand. The only reason and I mean ONLY REASON I'm giving this $hit hole 2 stars is because of Samuel. Sam works the front desk and bent over backwards on more than 1 occasion to try and make things better for... Read more

Where to start... Well, let's start with the name. "Tidelands Caribbean Resort". I have no idea where the "Caribbean" piece comes into play. Nothing in the hotel's offerings, amenities or decor suggests "Caribbean" Then there's that pesky word, "Resort". Other than the $8.75 per day resort fee, I found nothing that constituted a resort. So the name is just a bit misleading. The room was not cheap. We paid almost $400 a night for a room with a view of the alley and dumpsters. If anyone would l... Read more

I hope this review is seen by the owner of the Tidelands Caribbean Hotel. I recently stayed in one of the 2 room King Suites with my family. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. The front desk staff friendly and tried to help, but the problems we had were beyond what they could fix. To start, we did not have hot water the first 3 days of our stay and the pool was absolutely disgusting. After complaining to the front desk and being contacted by the manager, we received 150... This was our 8th year staying at the Tidelands, and it was pretty good then, but has majorely went down hill since. We told the people at the service desk that out drain in the shower wasn't working, and they put out name on a list and said somebody would be up to fix it. Well, that never did happen. Every day we had to stand in dirty water while trying to shower. My family and I stayed at this hotel because of how they advertised it, "a Caribbean resort" sadly it was far from it. We didn't have "hot" water to shower with, when we called for towels it took several hours and another phone call to get them and our "kitchenette" was filthy. We were unable to use any of our supplied dishes because they were horrid looking. Manager on duty, Ross, was VERY accommodating, & offered to switch is the next day. I was very pleased, because I would NEVER book a room facing the street.
