My family and I recently stayed at the Majestic for a week. From the moment we stepped in to the apartment, we started to notice several things broken, missing, or dirty. The most memorable disappointment was the shower (and when you've spent all day on the beach and have a toddler with you, the shower is pretty important). Not only was the knob for the cold water broken, but once we got it to work, the water would turn scalding hot then freezing cold during a 10 minute shower. The couches were... Read more

This is not a five-star hotel by any means, and I would never recommend it for a romantic vacation or special getaway. However, you won't find a better hotel *at this price* that is (a) centrally located on the boardwalk and (b) oceanfront. Some specifics: - Interiors are very dated, but also very clean. Linens are all clean and intact (no torn towels, etc.). I wasn't scared to touch anything. - Amenities are not bad for the price point. TV with a ton of channels, bathroom is well stocked wi... We were going to stay in OC for one night and wanted a place on the boardwalk. Being local, we knew about the rocking chairs here and wanted to stay. When you step into the hotel, you step back about 30-40 years. From the old time typewriter to the old style paper file holder, this place is nostalgic. Our room overlooked the boardwalk and was what we needed. Yes, it is not an upscale, 5-star, but no one says it is. If you want a place to spend a night or two in the middle of the boardwalk, this ... Read more

A friend and I booked this room at the last minute. Upon checking in, Ron who worked at the front desk was extremely nice and kind, but once we got to our room, that was a whole different story. The hotel is definitely outdated. I thought the beds were supposed to be queen beds, but they were full. The bathroom vent was filled with dust. There's was no iron in our room and the one pillow that was in the closet, you could tell was old and had a hole in it. Don't expect any shampoo or condit... Read more

the room was very small for 4 people, only cleaned it one night for a 4 night stay. People were very friendly, alittle expenisve for not being a very up to date hotel, elevator is small, needs redoing. and updating.

Went here for a girls trip. Will never stay there again rooms are smelly extremely shabby needs extensive updating the carpets are filthy looking and the room I stayed in was in bad shape got moved and that was a lot worse the smell was gagging. Packed up and went home. By the way the staff at the reception is bad need of manners.

Perfect location on the boardwalk. A little dated on outside. Checked in and open the doors to the rooms which smelled so awful. So dirty old and the air conditioner had black mold visibly growing on it. We shut the door and walked up and down the boardwalk. Thankfully a Howard Johnsons had 2 rooms available. We booked it and walked back to the Majestic where we were greeted by two very annoyed front desk girls because we interrupted their texting. Asked for a manager and expressed our dissatis... We just stayed at the Majestic for 2 nights. After reading the reviews, I was very skeptical but stayed there anyway. If you go in expecting a typical beach hotel, you get what you expect or maybe even a little better. The room was acceptable for space and it was clean. The shower was good, never got cold water as I read in other reviews. The refrigerator had an icebox that refroze our ice packs every day so we could use them in our cooler to take to the beach. The only problem we encounte... Read more

We stayed here because it was the only hotel with vacancies for a last minute beach trip. We didn't have any issues with parking but we parked and didn't move until we left to go home. The pool was adequate, the chairs around the pool were filthy. Check in and out was simple and fast. We were fortunate enough to have a room on the first floor but it was very small and cramped for 2 adults and a child. It was dark and dingy. I opened the dirty, old curtains to allow sunlight in and discovered tha... Read more

Firstly, if you're looking for luxury, look further up the boardwalk. If you're looking for a clean room, modestly decorated, at a fantastic boardwalk location and an awesome porch with rocking chairs, this is it! We have stayed here several times, over a period of several years, and are never disappointed. Rooms are outdated but not shabby. There are fridges (compete with a freezer section) and microwave in rooms. The rooms are quiet. Bring your own hairdryer. The Majestic is about cente... Read more

This place is perfect for a cheap vacation. Not the most luxurious stay you'll ever have but right on the boardwalk in front of the beach and friendly staff, rooms are clean if not a bit well loved. Good wifi and parking. Plus you can't beat the price.

First off, I should have looked at the Yelp reviews vice the reviews. This place is the WORST hotel I have EVER stayed at, and that includes a $16/nt hotel in Bangkok near the Bangkok airport during a period of civil unrest. We were headed to Ocean City for Tropical Storm Hemine weekend (er, Labor Day, but Hermine got in the way), so the hotel rates were pretty high. I went back and forth between an Air BNB and a hotel on the boardwalk, and since I've just moved from San Diego to th... Read more

My wife and I stayed at the end of the season when the rates are a little more affordable. The Majestic Hotel, like every other "Boardwalk" business, is expensive during regular season. Staying at the end of the season, along with plenty of hot temps; and a great beach, can make for a great vacation. The hotel is always clean. For those that an't beach lovers, there is a pool for your enjoyment. Parking this year, for us, was a little bit of a pain in the rear. Because of a big number of guests,... Read more

If I could have picked 0 stars or less I would have done it! We have stayed here 6 years in a row and this year has been the biggest disappointment. It's never been a 5 star location, but it was always ok and my husband loves sitting on the porch in the morning, drinking coffee and watching the ocean. So, location, location, location. You overlook a lot to get a good location. We got there this year and we stayed in room 306. It was a total hole. The room was filthy, used soap fro... Read more

When you book one of the cheapest hotels on the boardwalk you are not going to get everything you would if you paid 3 times the price. First Majestic is an old hotel that needs some upgrades. You could start and pick the place apart like the remote control for the TV only turned it on and off and you had to change the stations by putting in the numbers. When taking a shower you could be cold one second and hot the next if someone in the next room used any water. BUT the place has charm, of t... Read more

I spent many childhood summers in OC, and as an adult our family has spent many years at the Majestic. Although never what I would call a "top of the line" hotel, it has always been clean and reasonably comfortable. Location is right on the BW, roughly a mile from the pier. Over the years it has suffered from a lack of TLC on the part of management, but it still has a bit of its old charm. It needs a major facelift, but tries hard to stay in the mix. Staff is all young and somewhat indiffere... Read more

As we like to walk the boardwalk, it is great having the hotel right next to the boardwalk. The hotel could use some modernization, but it is clean and we basically just need a place to sleep and shower. Speaking of showers, our room this year was on the fourth floor. It easily took 10 minutes of continuous shower water running until we received hot water. Enjoy having the rocking chairs to sit outside to read a good book, listen to the waves, and/or watch the boardwalk strollers.

This hotel has a great location on the boardwalk at 7th street. Easy walk to the amusement rides, restaurants and bars. You never need to use your car. NIce ocean front porch with lots of rocking chairs to enjoy the view. Half the rockers were the older cane style and other half are new composite rockers. Check in was very quick and desk clerk was nice as were other staff members. There is one parking pass for each room and there are 2 parking lot locations, one right on site and the other ab... We booked late for Sunfest so our options were limited. Majestic is an older building, small hallways, tiny elevator. We were on the third floor, first impressions: No lock on the door, except the standard one in the door knob, no peep hole, slight damp/must smell, curtains were old and dusty/dirty and barely on the tracks, the bed was thin and lumpy. The blanket had holes in it, and had the bed size written on it in large sharpie letters. The carpet older and had lots of dirt on it. The bathroo... Read more
