On a business trip we stayed here for couple of night. It wasn't the cleanest hotel I've been and in particular carpets are really worn out! However, the staff were friendly and helpful even in busy time which was good. The breakfast was also good.

Booked on line and didn't realize that this was the OLD (50 plus years) Bethesda Holiday Inn rebranded as a Doubletree. Really showing its age. My room was adequate. My partners' had a "suite" so that we could hold business meetings. The bedroom portion did not even have a window! Claustrophobic. There was complimentary internet that was very weak. Lobby was dark and depressing. Only breakfast choice (other than a Starbucks counter) was a $15 buffet with stale sweet rolls and cold bitter co... Read more

We usually go to to the Marriott in Bethesda on Pooks Hill Road and love it, unfortunately, they had no suites so we had to go elsewhere.I booked three rooms at the Doubletree for family members. I was embarrassed. We arrived after 3:00 p.m. and the two rooms for our guests were not ready. Even worse, there were no carts to bring our belongings to our room. The valets were useless as far as going to management and getting some help with bags/carts. We had a suite so we had a lot of supplies, but... Read more

Anytime I need a hotel in the Bethesda area, the Doubletree is my first choice. The hotel is always clean. They offer wonderful meals and there is valet on site. It is close to the Medical Centers and many wonderful restaurants. This trip it was exceptionally busy but that did not take away from the quietness or quality of sleep.

I used this hotels for my wedding guest and was very impressed with their service and facilities. The staff worked with my wedding planner to reserve 10 rooms at a reasonable rate and helped me secure a suite to use to get ready the morning of my wedding. I would definitely recommend this hotel for group and individual stays.

I stayed here while attending a training. We drove to Bethesda from Montana and this was our first time in this area and the hotel was easy to find and a pretty darn good location. Bars and restaurants in easy walking distance. The hotel was very clean, modern, comfortable with plenty of outlets and plug ins and a good shower. Starbucks in the lobby was delightful. Had a couple of drinks in the bar and it was fun. drinks were about $10 a piece. probably not too bad for the area. We did not eat ... Read more

Stayed at Double Tree Bethesda MD for a procedure to be done the next day at NIH. The staff were helpful from beginning to end of stay. The room was clean and quiet. There was a large-screen high definition TV with multiple cable channels, and the room could be digitally controlled for temperature. I was able to sleep well the night before my procedure. The bathroom and shower were spotless. Finally, checking out was quick and easy. All in all, a very comfortable stay.

It looked like a junkyard in the hall and in the room it was a carpet that was old and filthy. Room service didn't respond I called three times to get a menu before I give up, no more Hilton for me and I am a diamond card holder. The employee didn't care if the guest was treated well. I've stayed at this hotel a few times over the past couple of years and my experience is a little more disappointing each time. The front desk staff is very nice and check in was very smooth, particularly with on-line check-in. The hotel seems to be skimping on in-room amenities. My room had one decaf and one regular coffee packet, no creamer and one Equal packet. There was no bath mat and no facial/hand soap in the bathroom- only the soap in the dispenser in the bath/shower. This hotel has a good location with several restaurants within walking distance. The staff is generally friendly. From there is goes down hill. The hotel is expensive which I expect is a condition of where it is at. For that high dollar I would expect the accommodations to be high quality, and that simply is not the case. The carpets are dated, the hot water on he 15th floor takes a solid 7-8 minutes to reach temperature (I'm not exaggerating). I didn't know this until my first shower when the l... Read more

Cons: The hotel is just really, really dirty. The first room I had wreaked of smoked. I changed to a second room. Have stayed at this hotel before for business several times. This time my wife joined me for the weekend. We arrived Friday at 1:00pm and there was no room available, so no early check in, even things did not seem busy at all. The rest of weekend we observed people checking in early all the time. Room on Hilton Honors floor was very nice and spacious. There was a water leak in the lobby ceiling all weekend along. Lobby could use an upgrade. Location is good close to restaurants.

There were NEVER enough towels or washcloths. We had four people in our room and housekeeping usually left three towels and one washcloth. We stayed six nights and they never did get it right. In the evenings, when we asked for more towels and washcloths, we were told the hotel had run out of clean washcloths. They gave us hand towels to use in place of the washcloths. WEIRD! Either do you laundry more often or buy more washcloths! One night, we were also told the hotel had run out of soap!

In my opinion not quite at Doubletree standards. First the positives. The staff is very good, Very attentive and willing to help. Breakfast buffet was very good also and again buffet staff very attentive. Besides that, furniture and carpet in my room seem beat up, certain portions of the furniture we're not clean, and Wi-Fi is terrible pretty much everywhere, and I tried with my laptop as well as my iPhone. In summary, not all bad but I would say not at Doubletree standards.

The on-line check in facility was one of the best features that I've experienced since I did not have to spend so much time at the front desk on arrival, especially after a long 10 hours trip. I have stayed at many, many Hilton Properties over the past 30 years. I have found this one to be sub-standard in many respects: 1. Enjoyed our stay. The room, staff, restaurant, location, made our trip easy comfortable and pleasant. Highly Recommend for your next trip to Bethesda and Washington area. Close to everything and walking is possible to most places locally.

The rooms could use updating. Check out your room upon arrival, it might be missing small amenities expected. The staff will bend over backwards to correct any issues. Heating and cooling systems don't regulate the temperature well.

Hotel is very conveniently located to many restaurants and bars. Valet parking is not an issue and service is rather quick. Rooms are somewhat expensive for an average hotel room, but I guess that is the norm due to its proximity to DC. Would stay again if in the area.

Poor TV station choices, Nice bed/linens, Bad internet set up. Lack of running water from Midnight until 5:00 AM really it never came on and we had to leave @ 6:40 AM to make a medical appointment @ NIH in Bethesda, MD.

The hotel is more or less standard for what you get in Bethesda - good location - close to NIH and tons of restaurants. A bit old but fine. An employee rescued me when I forgot my wallet in the room and not only found it but also commandeered the shuttle bus to get me back to NIH in time for my meeting. Could have been a disaster.

Location was good for our itinerary; Very helpful to have hotel shuttle to the Metro; Maid service left something to be desired in that they often did not follow through with what I thought were simple requests. Front desk staff very helpful and accomodating. Rooms could use some updating but mattresses were very good. Had originally booked with the Bethesda Hyatt but they were undergoing substantial renovations, so went to Doubletree as a fall back choice. Next time it would be back to the Hyat... Read more

I chose this location because it was close to the event location that I was going to work at. I really enjoyed the staff that was really polite. I had a late arrival (12am) but the staff made my checkin quick so I can go on and settle in. I received the service like I did at any other Double tree. Cookies and water bottles were given to me without asking. The hotel is located at a great location which made my commute so easy. It is also close to the interstate and other shopping areas. Top quality front desk staff and good location if you want to be in Bethesda. Hotel is a bit dated and will benefit from a makeover but the price is OK for the location. The rooftop pool is good and the staff works very hard. They will want to take everything to a new level however- replace the rugs to begin with. Not bad, just a bit old/dated - 1980s feel.

They don't tell you that you have to pay $26 on weekdays and $12 on weekends for parking. Also, they don't allow you to put a do not disturb sign on your door, so that they will clean your room everyday. If you are the type of person who tips the staff who clean, add this to your cost.

The hotel was generally good for business meetings. The room (king) had a lot of open space and could have used a couch or a nice chair or something like that. The quality of the bed was kind of poor. The bed felt kind of cheap and flat.

This Doubletree Hotel is the downtrodden cousin of most Doubletrees. The staff wasn't friendly, the restaurant was lit like a cafeteria, the bartender took 10 minutes to acknowledge my presence, even though I sat right in front of him at the bar wanting to order food to take up to the room. The cook mixed up the very simple instructions on the order (no tomato or onion on the burger; dressing on the side for the salad). The rooms are okay and reasonably clean, but the neighborhood seems just ... Read more

I booked this hotel because it was inexpensive and close to my son's college. Arrived late on a Friday night and found out there was valet parking ONLY. It was $12 a night on Friday and Saturdays - You can't beat that near D.C. (and that includes coming and going as many times as you like.) Personally I parked and left my vehicle the entire weekend. The metro is 4 blocks away. If you don't want to walk the 4 blocks the hotel provides a free shuttle to the metro station. Everyone at the fr... Read more

The hotel was perfectly acceptable - fine for 3 nights while we explored Washington. But it was the exceptional service and help that we received from Jason on the front desk that has prompted this review. We had 2 or 3 small issues to sort out during our stay and each time he handled them superbly. Thank-you Jason! Close access to the Metro was a bonus and very easy to get around.

Great location and friendly staff. Room service was spotty and check-in was time consuming. Dirty dishes with old food on tray left outside my room for almost 24 hours, and I finally cleared them myself. Room service menu limited. WIFI basically not functional, even paying for Premium. Bedding not warm enough, and room didn't have extra blanket. Upon request, I was brought a blanket that was stained and even had a hole in it. Still a great NIH conference though!

I had an issue with a cigarette smell in my room and a member of the staff came right up to resolve. Also, the front desk followed up with a call to ensure everything was taken care of to ensure my stay was the best.

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in 45 years of traveling. 3 luggage carts for 270 rooms. Virtually nonexistent valet. And managers that expressed false concern and did nothing. Room was not made up at 230 when we returned from a brunch. Valet lost our car keys for 15 minutes. On departure was not asked how my stay was and car was not ready at 7 am on a Sunday. The room was nice, and the food available for room service too. The hotel has a Starbucks in the lobby, which was convenient for the early meetings. I visited the NIH for work-related purposes, and it was a very nice 15-min walk from the hotel to the main entrance of NIH.

My stay in the hotel was fine, but I was billed incorrectly (over $190 more than I should have been) and it took two days, multiple phone calls, and being passed around on hold for over half an hour until I was able to speak to someone to fix the problem. I think this is unacceptable for such an established company.

We used the hotel because it was a good base for visiting family. The hotel was decent and the beds were comfortable, but house keeping on the last day was relentless. About an hour later a male house keeper knocks quickly on the door and opens it before we could get to it. It wasn't even enough time to get to the door. It was ridiculous. The grout in th...
