We came to Owings Mills, Maryland for a family reunion and needed a place to stay. After doing some research, I learned that there were three hotels within five miles of my sister's home, so I looked at all three of them to compare value. The cost of all three was quite similar, but I chose the Hampton Inn because it looked clean, it offered a pool and a fitness room, and a continental breakfast that others praised. The young woman with whom I spoke at the reservations line was polite, well-spoken and efficient. She reserved three rooms for me and sent confirmations immediately, which I appreciated very much. I received a reminder of my reservations about two weeks prior to our planned visit and I was glad because one of our group had canceled and I wanted to cancel that reservation so I wouldn't be charged for it. Again, the young woman at the reservations line did a great job and sent me immediate email confirmation. The day before we were leaving I received an email telling me that I could check in online - I'd never heard of that before, but it allowed me to choose my own room location which I thought was great, so I figured it was worth a try. We drove straight to the family reunion location instead of running to the hotel first. When we finally went to the hotel later in the evening, I was greeted with a friendly smile and a request for my name. The instant I said it, the desk clerk said, "Oh yes, I have your room keys right here" and handed them to me! The rooms were nicely appointed, not huge but certainly big enough to not feel crowded. There was a flat-screen television, large business desk, lots of electrical outlets, a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron and ironing board and hair dryer. The bathroom was very large and decently lighted (I would have liked a bit more light above the sink but I've definitely seen worse). The vanity was large (4-5 feet) with lots of counter space as well as shelving down below for storing personal items. The Neutrogena products were a nice touch. The shower was large - I usually prefer a bathtub, but this shower was nicely tiled with enough shelving in it to make it easy to bring everything I needed into the shower with me. There was lots of hot water, and the shower head was adjustable so I could make the water stream the way I like. The beds were quite comfortable, and I was very pleased to find an extra blanket in the spacious closet. Breakfast the following morning was everything other reviewers said it would be. They offer a nice variety of breads, bagels, sweet rolls and scones. There was also a nice variety of dry cereals, as well as a large bowl of fresh fruit, another of yogurt, and another filled with hard-boiled eggs. Hot selections included oatmeal, western omelets and sausage links, and waffles you could make fresh and hot in a waffle iron. There were many kinds of juices available as well as water, coffee and tea. It was an excellent breakfast with something for everyone and we enjoyed spending time there together as a family. The internet was fast and free, the check-out was lightning fast, and everyone working there was friendly and very willing to help. The only 'complaint' I had was that the parking lot was attached to a second hotel and getting into the lot was a little bit complicated. Once we figured it out we were able to do it easily, but arriving in the dark on the first evening was a little bit tricky. Other than that, we were extremely pleased with our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling in that area.
