From the front desk staff to the housekeeping, I found service was always friendly and excellent. I was with a group and we had several meals here. They were done buffet style as we were a large group. I was very pleased with the selection. I had reason to go to my room in the middle of the day and found housekeeping was there. The maid politely asked me to show her my room key. THANK YOU!! I appreciate the concern for my safety and the security of my belongings. The free shuttle to and from... Read more

Very nice hotel, great staff and walking distance to all Old Port bars and restaurants. I loved the map room, very you could enjoy the morning papers and fresh coffee or tea. The restaurant is also good. I like old hotels..if you do too this is a great choice for old port area

Here for wedding. Beautiful facility old style hotel, still use "real keys". Great rooms, comfortable beds located right down town. Close to wharf, shops, food etc. Staff helpful and friendly. Didn't eat in the restaurant but no lack of great food near by. Would definitely stay again.

We have a wonderful time staying at the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa. The room was great, coffee was delivered to our door in the morning. The breakfast at the restaurant was outstanding, and the food in the lounge was also outstanding. We had an early flight back to Madison, so we needed to get our car and bill by 4 am. The staff person at the front desk had both our bill and rental car waiting for us. Front desk also printed our boarding passes for us for our flight.

Nice hotel with turn of century decor (that's 20th century). Good restaurant on site with great, but not free, breakfast. Rooms are good size and fine for traveller. Wi-fi was free but didn't work in my room- no signal. Centrally located within walking distance to everything in downtown Portland.

Excellent location, right downtown. About 30min walk to Munjoy Hill or Promenade. Friendly staff, complimentary shuttle from airport. Clean, quiet, comfy bed. But standard rooms are a little cramped and, due to the architecture of being an armory, the windows are small resulting in a dark and dreary sort of setting. Did not try the restaurant.

I visited the hotel with a friend to celebrate my birthday. The location is a short 2 blocks from the waterfront and valet parking is offered at a very reasonable $12 per night. The staff was friendly and professional. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. We each had massages in the spa and enjoyed them thoroughly. I would stay there again.

Room 116 was a good sized room but it is literally underground. We were surprised when we were told to go down to "G" level (the main elevator bank doesn't even go that far down), we had to go down the hall and take another elevator down two levels from reception) The room was pretty big, but was very dark (not enough light fixtures) and you have to keep the curtains closed unless you want passer-by's looking down into your room. I normally wouldn't care if I had to keep the curtains closed the ... Read more

We had a great overnight stay at the Portland Regency! We were in a pet-friendly room on the ground floor. I found the layout of the hotel a bit confusing at first, but one of the very friendly staff helped us find our room. The room was huge and included a sitting area with a couch and two chairs. That said, this hotel was recommended to me by a friend who said their room was on the small side. It may be worth asking about room size when you book. It seems to vary quite a bit. Due to the ground... Read more

We enjoyed a three-night stay at the Portland Regency Spa and Hotel in downtown Portland. The hotel's location is one of its best features. It's just a couple of blocks from the waterfront and we were able to walk to many of the boutiques, coffee houses, bookstores, restaurants in the Old Port. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful during check-in and later when I asked for restaurant recommendations and directions. Our room was located on the third floor. I should begin by telling that I booked through a third party and I believe this fact negatively impacted our stay. Upon check-in, the clerk said," I see you booked through a third party" and then gave us the most remote room in the joint...third floor, right corner, and 50 ft from WiFi hub. Our breakfast was 30 minutes late and came only after a reminder call, we had no WiFi, and none of the bathroom toiletries were replenished during our stay. Added to this was the fact that parking is vale... Read more

My wife and I flew into Portland, in order to rent a car and drive to Acadia National Park. We only stayed one evening. The staff was friendly and professional. The room was furnished nicely, and was very clean. The location was good (close to the airport, restaurants, and the historic port). The in-house gym looked pretty good. The only complaint I have is that the gym closed at 9:00 p.m. Since we arrived in the evening, all I could do was some aerobics.

We visit Portland twice a year and always stay at the Regency. It is a historical site as back a couple hundred years it was built as an armory/fort. It is two short blocks up from the waterfront and Commercial St. where you will find many restaurants and bars. We found the best rooms are on the fourth floor which also have balconies to view the waterfront and city.

We stayed at the Regency since my company was having a party at Dimillo's. Great place to say in the Old Port, with-in walking distance of EVERYTHING in the Old Port. All the staff was nice and friendly.

The rooms were fine, the staff friendly, the location great but don't have then park your car. We spent one night had the car parked. When our black, one month old Audi A8 was brought around it had at least thirty bird stains in it that had been in direct sun. The hotel was nice enough to spray it off with a hose but the damage had been done. I'm sure I will be paying a couple of hundred dollars to get the paint etching out. The lot they park in is an open lot evidently in the sun. There are a n... Read more

This is a beautiful hotel, conveniently located in Portland, close enough to the waterfront to walk. The room that we had was a little small, though not uncomfortably so....I found the beds to be a little lumpy but was so tired that I slept well. The hotel and room were clean. I loved that the shower, which had great water pressure offered soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers instead of little bottles.

This is a beautiful historic building, which adds to the charm. The floors can be a little confusing and it is a long building. When we pulled up, there was not valet to help with car or luggage. We went inside and checking in was fine. No help was offered with our bags. The room was comfortable and large given the historic aspect. The shower had very little pressure as did the toilet bowl, both of which did not add to the charm of the building. The suggestions of places to go was lacking... Read more

If you went by the demeanor of the employees at the reception, you might wonder if this was a Motel-8. Seemingly the front desk has not bought into the luxury or the history laden story of this place. The hotel bears the 19th century exterior and some of it makes into the interior (common areas) as well. For an average of $325/night we reserved a room for 2 nights during the July 4th weekend. We were graced with the corner room on the top floor. The room had 2 windows, out of which one was a por... Read more

The location is dead center of all the wonderful restaurants and stores in Portland. Most hotels close by our new construction, this one is a renovated armory. That means rooms vary a lot. We stayed twice in a week. One room was standard dimensions, the other, on the corner with windows looking on two different streets was a bit more that standard length but just a bit wider than the beds. The price over the course of a week varied by 50% so timing is everything with regard to the rates. W... Read more

My wife and I needed a 4 night getaway and Portland offered an ocean side setting within a reasonable driving distance. Old Port and the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa delivered in all respects. Great service, cleanliness, restaurants, room service, lounge, valet parking, all finely executed. If we had a complaint it may have been the in room A/C, while quick to cool, was louder than needed. A central 2 block location from the waterfront made navigating the sights as simple as possible. Without a ... Read more

I stayed at the Regency Hotel for two nights for a conference. The hotel is centrally located which is its biggest asset. My room was large but the rooms seemed to vary when I compared mine to my colleagues. Although I was on the third floor, I could hear the front door open and close in the morning (The room was near the central staircase.). The air conditioning seemed to be set on one temperature so at times it was warm/stuffy and the windows could not be opened. The rooms were clean, how... Read more

We stayed at the Regency Hotel for 2 nights. Couldn't have asked for a better location -- we parked the car upon arrival and didn't need it for the next 2 days. The hotel has a little cobblestone roundabout in front and the restaurant / bar is set up outside across the street from the entrance (they have a lovely cocktail menu). It feels like a private street with very little outside traffic coming through. Our room was large and airy. It had 3 windows!! Unheard of in a new hotel. I was ... Read more

We've stayed at the Regency 4 times but only checked out the fitness center this last time. What a treat! It's small but has everything you need. Plus, it's in the spa so it has the feel of a spa--with cucumber infused water and individual ear buds, lush towels, beautiful changing rooms with saunas and steam rooms. We were in heaven. Next time we'll book massages! The rooms are lovely. The beds plush and comfy and the location is superb! You are right in the middle of shops and restaurants--so... Read more

I requested a room other than a basement room, we were put right over the front door so we could hear it banging repeatedly starting at 6am. The room was dark, dingy looking with a lumpy couch. After beds were turned down there was one pillow on the bed, the pillows with a sham and the roll pillows were on the floor. We requested coffee for the morning, a tray was delivered outside our door. It had a carafe, cups, 1 mini muffin (rubbery) and a small lemon pastry. Shampoo, conditioner and show... Read more

As for the location, you can't get a hotel much closer to the Harbor and Commercial Street than the Portland Regency. As for the hotel itself, it is in a beautiful old building, with a nice courtyard entrance, but the interior and amenities could use some updating. Not that the hotel is bad inside, but I would rate the interior and facilities as "average." I gave it an "above average" rating, based primarily upon the location.

Wow, what a great hotel! The location is so central that we were able to walk to everything and leave the car at the hotel. The rooms were very spacious and beds were quite comfortable. The hotel has a spa which is such a plus! We used the sauna and spa jacuzzi which was complementary. I was really quite impressed with the whole hotel.

The front entrance of the hotel faces a delightful courtyard, and no traffic apart from guests leaving their cars for the valet parking. Our room was spacious, as was the bathroom. The staff were incredibly helpful, polite and friendly, and I loved the early morning complimentary coffee and pastries delivered to the room. The hotel has a perfect location, very cl... Read more
