I stayed here for a business function. I loved the architecture because the hotel is an armory that was converted into a hotel. At night, there are lights along the ramparts that make the hotel easy to find. The lobby area was wood and marble. There was a sitting area off to the side which was convenient for making phone calls during breaks. Everyone who worked there seemed sincerely interested in being helpful without being pushy. I loved the chocolates that were left after the turn-down ... Read more

We just got back from a four day visit to Portland, Maine and thoroughly enjoyed the Regency. This converted historic building was as close to downtown Portland as possible. Very friendly staff, nicely appointed rooms and just a good place to stay. The pluses- the location, the staff, the nice sized rooms, free local and USA newpapers (even on Sunday). The minuses- the proximity to area bars, you could hear rowdy patrons walking the streets for a bit-but remember you are staying downtown in ... Read more

We stay at the Regency when we want to have a fabulous weekend away. The front desk staff is fantastic. The valets are impeccable. We love the location. It is perfectly situated and makes every place walkable. Very reasonably priced too! Stay at the Regency, you'll be very happy you did!

My husband and I stayed at the Portland Regency this past weekend for a leisure trip with some friends. The Regency was a perfect choice, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, the hotel itself is beautiful, our room was very clean. The only thing that I didn't like was that there was no parking, we were forced to use the valet for an extra $12 per day. But it wasn't really a big deal because everything we needed was within walking distance. I would definitely recommend staying here.
